Even without that insulting bullshit, the game's story is an incoherent, convoluted mess. Sam Lake trying to use Alan Wake as some kind of multiverse crossover with Max Payne, Quantum Break, and Control sucks and totally ruined this game.
Somehow they made the combat way worse from the first game too.
I'm not fond of the whole "remedyverse" thing either and I'm saying this as someone who loved the first game so much it became my first "lore-obsession" game.

Alan has the ability to change areas with the lamp, ability to rewrite entire scenes, Dark Presence chase sequences, etc. All things which are actual gameplay.
