"Performance mode" aka 60 fps mode is literally the only thing that keeps these "nextgen" consoles competitive with PC. "Quality mode" needs to just go away.

These new games all have to look fricking terrible to run at a playable frame rate, why are they making them like this? What is the point? To simplify workflows? This is a slow linear shooter- there's nothing inherent to it that a 5 year old PC or current gen console shouldn't be able to handle.
It seems like RDR2 is the last AAA game that attempted to look good while being playable.

devs develop games on generic engine, for them to run on generic hardware. they don't have (or don't take) the time to properly optimise shit for specific hardware
