>all skills are intertwined
>bunch of weird obscure items and interactions specific for 1 single situation in some random minigame or zone that can change the way you interact with them
>huge generic but cool as frick fantasy world with fun lore
>bunch of viable builds for different situations in PVE (unless you are a tryhard gay)
>fun quests that dont force you to interact with morons waiting years for some specific raid
>can be played as a single player game basically if you want to
>community gets to decide what it wants
People dont give OSRS the credit it deserves, its not just a great MMO its one of the densest and tightest games ever made
Not a single useless skill, not a single moment you are not spending improving something about your character, bunch of interactions with items and obstacles, great soundtrack, timeless artstyle and a bunch of love from the devs
I wish someone made a competitor to it thats not just a standard clicker game
>People dont give OSRS the credit it deserves
No, I give credit to RuneScape in 2007
Even in 2013 on release it was just a soulless husk cashgrab by a shell of former Jagex.
Most people who parrot this shit never played it in the timeframe they praise.
Game only got better
>huge generic but cool as frick fantasy world with fun lore
>huge generic but cool as frick fantasy world
>generic but cool as frick
>generic
No
>knights
>wizards
>castles
Yes
>can be played as a single player game basically if you want to
Not a good thing in an MMO.
>community gets to decide what it wants
Not a good thing when the community is moronic.
>Not a good thing in an MMO.
Absolutely is
You have multiplayer only content those who want it and singleplayer for those who want that.
Forcing multiplayer dungeons and raids at anything but max level is dumb
I like RuneScape but it does a hell of a lot more poorly than it does well.
(pre-backup) quests are really fun and worth playing for those. Everything else is a joyless slog and a horrible use of your limited time on this earth.
Are you kidding me, remember that Shield of Arrav quest that’s needed for a LOT of other quests
Wow, one quest out of two hundred where you have to go find somebody
>give OSRS the credit it deserves
That they purged all majority of the remaining players then later claimed their game was at their peak playercount? LMAO
The tone of early Runescape is something I've always liked. Like a mix of clever British kids show with old fashioned point and click adventure games. Your character is a funny often selfish guy who just kind of wanders into trouble.
This or RS3?
Will do solo and mostly on mobile to not be bored at work
The new-ish updates to osrs mobile make it slightly more on par with using a cheat client, but it's still not quite there.
RS3 has a lot more afk-friendly activity (and that's true AFK, not "have to stare and tap every couple seconds" that osrs has), but it's more about what you find fun. If you have goals that are menial enough in one or the other, do them on mobile. I mostly use RS3 to make money for bonds for when leagues come out or deadmanmode on OSRS, and occasionally play my main on OSRS, though he's maxed now so there's not a whole lot to do besides some awful moneymakers on mobile, so RS3 is the much better choice. Necromancy also makes it pretty fun to do combat on mobile.
Interesting, I'll stick to RS3 then sincei t does seem like it's more moron proof overall and leave OSRS for when I'm bored of RS3
id love to play it but i fight myself not to because of the team behind the game.
that and whenever i join in convos the topic is always how high a person is, or how wrong their life has been, and in a clan it becomes a competition on who is the most depressed soaked individual lol just not worth it
I don't give it credit because they've over time slowly made around 1/3 the skills completely pointless. That is to say, anything involving gathering, by just having bosses drop all of the resources you'd collect, in such huge quantities that you'd have to spend hours upon hours, or even days collecting to get them.
Zulrah started the trend and they haven't eased up at all. I'd argue it's gotten worse.
To put it another way
you make more money mining in fricking rs3 than you do in osrs.
Hilarity.
Here's my favorite part of the lore
truly rent free
There goes my childhood game. It is what it is.
I want more fun quests back. Latest quest showed the writers and player base are too into the zaros and mahjarat storyline, the quest ended up being disapointing. Its been ages since we had a fun quest, the managers even want to stop holiday events and just redo old ones cause its a waste of dev time.
Is 2009scape any good? I like that you can host an offline single player server without having to pay anything
>People dont give OSRS the credit it deserves
because all of that is swimming in a pool of grindshit
There's a reason why gayex's games are called grindrscape.
Grind and grind like their gay dating app.
I stopped playing when I paid a venny $18 to do MM2 for me
There are times where I want to start playing again but what's the point if I'm having such a bad time that I pay people to do shit for me
I just did that today. Those docks weren't hard at all but I'm moronic and impatient.
>$18
>for MM2
holy shit bro you paid like 8 years of his salary, what were you having trouble with? The docks?
The entire thing, I read a guide and everything about it seemed miserable but mostly the docks
The vennies I went with charge the same regardless of progress so might as well get the whole thing done
How are any of these positives when no one talks in game anymore and it's all minmaxing your grinds?
The game is no longer the same Oldschool you remembered.
One of the good things of this whole shit was able to use Abyssal Whip on black female guard
I'm 3k points away from Dragon rank in Leagues bros... First time playing in 4 years, send me your power
>old school
There's nothing old school about it. They added back the GE which ruined the game in the first place.
GE was never what ruined the game
damn it's crazy seeing literal children pretend they played games back in the day.
Everyone was on zybez and fally park and WVB were fricking DEAD because you'd just go on forums to organize sales/buys, it was a hassle and a waste of time/money to sit there instead of playing the game to sell your shit. gayex saw this and decided to take the power back themselves instead of a third party website being the premier.
>yeah right that didn't happen
it did because ZYBEZ USED THE FRICKING 1:1 SAME IDENTICAL INFRASTRUCTURE TO HOST THE SAME MARKET WEBSITE WHEN OSRS LAUNCHED BEFORE IT GOT GE.
What ruined RS in 2007 was fricking free trade and wildy removal, You couldn't loan or give items to friends without a bunch of bullshit getting in your way, making it hard to play with people you knew, and when that's the case they stop bringing in new people, when THAT happens the game just fricking dies, immediately.
>>damn it's crazy seeing literal children pretend they played games back in the day.
Why would someone who played the game while GE always existed complain about the GE ruining the game you absolute fricking moron?
>say word
>money stolen
RS3 is unironically a far superior game IF and only IF playing as an Ironman
true and I don't play as an ironman
^_^ met a cool girl on OSRS earlier.. think im gonna marry her ingame world 302 varrock chapel tomorrow at 8 PM PST
>girl
what do you mean?? >_<
Its fun
I wish someone made a better MMO with the same philosophy
