I don't understand how this dogshit of an engine is so popular but somehow Flax Engine or Defold are not. Shitload of funding wasted on Juan's moronic leadership.
A game engine doesn’t need to be optimized or fast because… IT JUST DOESN’T OKAY??? Shut up and download this new update for more 3D features that nobody asked for. Stop asking for improvements on 2D.
may as well be complaining that screwdrivers are bad because you can't hammer nails with them. you choose the right tool for the job and prebuilt engines are a tradeoff for ease of development. if you cared about optimizing performance you'd be enginedeving anyway.

Godot's replacing Unity as we speak.
FOSS 3D engine's a god-sent gift.
Use Gdevelop for 2D, homies.
the problem with Juan is that he's too autist to actually take cricism into account also godot tools feel unfinished and they are more worried implementing graphics stuff than actually making an engine with proper tools and usable api.
Might not be entirely relevant, what is a robust and *performant* gui-controller library? Of course we can use godot, or electron, or qt, or plain sdl, but I don't want too many extra bells and whistles.
I wanna make a kind of text adventure, but don't want to reinvent the wheel with inputs and dynamic fonts and all that minutae.
can only develop for windows, which is a huge deficit of potential for porting, scaling, etc. working in godot directly limits your market in a way that you might as well just webdev a game instead
Threads like these offer absolutely zero truthfulness on anything and even randomly generated posts would be more insightful. I can understand simply not knowing what you're talking about but 99% of posters here seem utterly incapable of doing even the most basic of research before posting, you're all bafflingly stupid.
A lot of Unity devs jumped ship. Expect a similar results to unity, that means plenty of shovelwear and asset flip slop, but some devs make gems. And good games take time to make
Give it 10 more years, be patient old man
cruelty squau
check /agdg/ and Ganker3
They never made a good game regardless of engine
>Risk of Rain
Nah, they're alright
i like paperball wasnt that /agdg/
I'm making a persona and earthbound inspired spy adventure that will be the first
>play is literally about waiting for someone
never been more bored with a story in my life. what the frick were they thinking?
Ironic that everyone is waiting for godot to make a good game
but just like the book
It will never come
It's the french seinfeld
Frick how had i not realized sooner
I'm working on it.

I for one do not give a shit about 2D and I'm really glad they're focusing on 3D with 4.2 and 4.3
Yeah, really, we're spoiled for choice with engines to do 2D shit in.
Juan Linietsky won.

submit your code for all that if u care so much homosexual
juan sos un pelotudo.
>relegating geometry tools to plugins only
Yep Juan is a moron and another engine will take godot's by the time it's good.
Cruelty Squad?
Holocure
Oh hi there
its funny how everyone who was shilling Gidot quietly stopped using it after discovering the problems with it.
name the problems
Godot is unironically a good engine.
>game being ported and devoloped in godot
>everyone ignores it the post
kek
>implying you would know if game is made with Godot
Godot users can't resist proclaiming their engine of choice
lol
>FOSS
>needing to credit
Lol

Why are developers so passive aggressive nowadays
How is that passive aggressive?

just bundle joy2key with your game
>text adventure
>doesn't want good text rendering
Writing is more fun than implementing dropshadows.

>almost 2024
>not a single good game has been made with unity or fortnite engine either
What's your fricking point
Unity has the most amount of impressive games.
Outer Wilds.

?
works fine on linux
Aren't Deponia Games made in Godot?
no, they use their own engine
Deponia IOS/PS4 ports were done with Godot.

Didn't the unity shit happen like 2 months ago if that?
Yes and they rolled back the changes. It's actually a better deal than Unreal now.
They're bleeding money (the reason they tried to implement that bullshit to begin with) and have lost all trust. It's ogre.
Meh. If push comes to shove someone will buy them out.
.
2024

you forgot the sad pepe image newbie.
