Then just grab the DuckStation emulator and emulate PS1 originals.
The routes are definitely a let down with how similar they are but I just enjoy the act of playing the game more in the remake, with its updated gameplay and graphics it can actually be spooky if you are willing to be spooked. Older RE games are fun too just not as much as RE2Make
>with its updated gameplay and graphics it can actually be spooky
Yeah, not with those muddy clusterfrick visuals, absolutely no OST whatsoever, and the handholdy, auto-adjusting difficulty that's easier than the 90s games thanks to not even forcing Ink Ribbons on you.
well you can play hardcore if you care about the difficulty so much and you can download or mod the OST
You can't really complain the textures are muddy when youre comparing it to a PS1 game lol

>well you can play hardcore if you care about the difficulty
I ONLY ever played on HC, because no Inks = no buy.
And it was still a snore fest.
>absolutely no OST whatsoever
Use the original soundtrack dlc >the handholdy, auto-adjusting difficulty that's easier than the 90s games
Turn it off in settings >not even forcing Ink Ribbons on you.
Play on Hard
>J-just BUY this 10 dollaroos DLC to add some 20yo music into our 2019 game...! :^)
Sir. Morning ceased.

You literally cannot, idiot.

The auto-adjusting difficulty only makes it easier if you play like shit. Make try being good at the game?

The auto adjusting difficulty turns regular enemies into T-1000 terminators if you play like a normal, functioning human being, while getting bit once or twice makes them into explosive pudding + spawns more ammo.
You literally cannot justify this bullshit in any way.

Is it just me or do molded auto move away from head shots. I swear re7 has something going on with it's shitty snap movements.

>SH1
This is a PS1 game, you need to emulate it.
I recommend the DuckStation, which is modern and easy to use. Most other emulators should work OK too.
>SH2-4
Insert the CDs or mount the ISOs of SH2, 3 or 4, and then run their installer to the end.
The W10 and 11's own, built-in virtual disc app may not work. Use 3rd party programs like the Virtual CloneDrive.
Do NOT install the games under "C:Program Files"! This can cause issues on modern Windows versions.
For SH2, just download the Enhanced Edition mod's installer, and run it. It's that easy now!
The "Enhanced .EXE" is also the no-CD crack.
SH3 & 4: check PC Gaming wiki and get the Steam006's fix.
>Protips
-Play the games in the release order.
-Start with Normal difficulty is recommended.
-There's TONS of replay value, so do replay them all.
-Turn down the in-game Brightness setting, for better gamma & colors.
-Turning OFF the flashlight can really help w/ stealth!
-Don't try to kill everything that moves, especially outdoors. Leg it, or sneak!
For me it's old Halloween quests and trick or treating in AdventureQuest and Dragonfable. Nothing gets me as comfy as this time of the year in games. Shame DF is terminally pozzed now.
>I heard the 3 remake is shit.
Beyond belief levels of garbage, yes. I bought it for 6 bucks and still couldn't be bothered to finish it. Later found out that even dropping it after 2 hours total I still played a third of the overall game.
no such thing as a good horror game, because they rely too much on the horror part as a crutch (except for silent hill 2, it does something a bit unique that no other really does)
which is also why Alan Wake 2 looks to be the best new upcoming "horro" game

Throwing in the SH PC guide next.
I played the originals I just like the remake better
Signalis is also an excellent game
>I just like the remake better
It's all around inferior to the 1998 OG, with less replay value.
The routes are definitely a let down with how similar they are but I just enjoy the act of playing the game more in the remake, with its updated gameplay and graphics it can actually be spooky if you are willing to be spooked. Older RE games are fun too just not as much as RE2Make

I'm gonna play through Silent Hill 1-4 for the first time (thanks in part to this guide actually), wish me luck.
Good luck, Anon! Hope you have fun!

My first time playing any RE2 was remake in first person. It was great and there's nothing you can do to change my mind.
>space lesbians
No thanks, I'll take the ugly remake. At least it's fun to play.
I'm the fat ugly bastard in the background.
My buddy and I run through a bit of Bloodborne every Halloween night. It's sick.
Darkwood. Beat it last year and now it's time to do it again
Dunno what i'm going to play.
I'm revisiting RE7 for this year. Likely going to revisit RE2R for October 2024.
>there are "people" who WANT to revisit this garbage
>there are people who like something that I don't
Well, you got me, Anon. I reinstalled RE2R yesterday and I'll probably start it again once I finish Doom 4.
recs?
ive played and enjoyed deadspace, manhunt, vampire bloodlines(modded)
>wake up honey

I just play Halloween mods for retro FPS.
I'm waiting for Dead Space Remake to get cracked.
For me it's old Halloween quests and trick or treating in AdventureQuest and Dragonfable. Nothing gets me as comfy as this time of the year in games. Shame DF is terminally pozzed now.
I played REmake last year, I will play 2 this year. I heard the 3 remake is shit.
3 is just the same shit as the Demake 2 (and 4).
Hypocritical zoom zooms just didn't get to enjoy similar manufactured hype with it.
Also, play the OGs. They are all around superior, more complete games.
>3 is just the same shit as the Demake 2
Unless you straight up didn't play the games I have no idea how you came to this conclusion.
Hello Micheal.
>I heard the 3 remake is shit.
Beyond belief levels of garbage, yes. I bought it for 6 bucks and still couldn't be bothered to finish it. Later found out that even dropping it after 2 hours total I still played a third of the overall game.
for me, it’s deadly premonition 1

which is also why Alan Wake 2 looks to be the best new upcoming "horro" game
What about RE4? It has horror elements but it leans more into action
re4 is what I like to call survival tension
>Think about playing 1-4
>Remember tank controls
>Don't bother with 1
every time
I don't play video games on halloween, I watch movies. Nightmare before Christmas, to be exact.
