Hau is higher leveled, is the one who starts the adventure at same time as you, the one who gets another starter, the one who becomes the final boss in USUM, the scripted first post-game boss (challenger) in SM and is the one who helps the MC make a Red-Blue parallelism for the 20th anniversary.

To be fair, HEROES used to be jerks in the 80's - see characters like Spyro or Sonic. If you pay attention to Blue's dialogue, it's pretty clear that Red is also being just as much of a dick to him - but since he's a silent protagonist, we don't actually hear his side of the conversation, just the responses to it from seeing Blue's reactions.

i like what they were going for with nemona, the execution isn't perfect but the idea is great. she's already beaten geeta iirc, but she's *bored* because she's the strongest, so she starts over with you to give herself something to do. the postgame could have had a rematch with her that brings back whatever team she fought the elite 4 with before, since you beat her at every turn. give her an actual competitive set that actually challenges you in the rematch, let her comment about not playing around anymore, it'd be cool.
Silver has an actually good character arc, the main theme is that treating pokemon with kindness is good, being cruel is bad, but it isn't beaten over your head 50 times like modern entries. if Silver came out now he'd probably be irritating but the original GSC Silver is peak rival
