Horizon isn't an RPG. It's an action adventure game, not really the same genre. Also gameplay in Horizon is leagues better. Especially true for FW.
I tried for like three hours. Frickin game was a constant exposition dump and obnoxious. Motherfricker I just wanted to shoot robots with arrows not listening to six different fricks give me their life story.

I have no motivation to start the final mission. The game seems to want me to do the main side quests before so (like getting guy his robot arm) but the quests aren't very compelling.

Not really. Side quests aren't important in FW(they were important in ZD because npcs you met in side quests were also in the final mission). Also yes, final island gets new quests. You also get to reach Burning Shores after the main storyline is over.

God I wish FW had a city as cool as this, though I get it wouldn't make sense in the lore. I was pretty blown away by Plainsong until I saw the assets reused in the other towns.

The story is ok, but every character in this game is fricking moronic and the moment you get sidetracked from speedrunning the story you get hit with their moronism. This game is at its best when running from one story objective to another fighting machines on the way and staying as far away from humans as possible.
Also, why does Aloy keep that shit hair, when Beta looks so much better with short hair. Is Aloy trying to never get fricked by anyone?

>This game is at its best when running from one story objective to another fighting machines on the way and staying as far away from humans as possible.
I never fast travelled for this reason. Didn't even ride mounts either. Simply travelling from one place to the next, taking in the sights, and fighting random machines for rare parts is easily the best part of the game. It was like that in Zero Dawn but at least the story and characters were a little better there. The massive map size in Forbidden West is much appreciated though. >Also, why does Aloy keep that shit hair, when Beta looks so much better with short hair.
I had been struggling to figure out what it was about Beta but that might be it. I immediately thought she was immediately more attractive than Aloy but this is the first thread I've heard anyone actually discuss why.
>Also, why does Aloy keep that shit hair
She lives in the woods and grew up in a tribe more primitive than the people who do human sacrifice. Rost probably taught her that soap scares away game animals
kek, I actually bought the game cuz I saw it for cheap on CDkeys, but haven't even opened it and I legit regret the buy. I asked for a refund. I just had a random revelation that no matter how "good" the gameplay. An open world fundementally CANNOT be good. There HAS to be some time wasting shit, just fundementally.
This can be fixed by not being moronic and pirating a game first to see if it's worth spending money on.

You even had bullshit like a guy killing a fricking Stormbird and being prevented from claiming his kill because some morons declared a random site to be "sacred." Fair and I'm glad he joined, but it also brings up the bullshit of what's his name at the wall. That chieftain was made to seem evil when his stance was the same as half of the other Tenakth: I don't like the Carja and I think Hekorro is weak for wanting peace. Yet instead of openly attacking him or wasting time killing your own people like Regalla he sits and waits for them to weaken each other before he moves in. Basic strategy. Yet rather than have Aloy discover a weakness in the wall with her focus, try to explain it to him but not be believed because you can't see it without a focus, and then have one of the rebels siege them with the elephant and blow up the wall while Aloy tries to *defend* the people, you have her fricking blow it up herself. She puts all those people at risk just to get what she wants yet ever NPC heralds her as a hero. Ridiculous. >admiral guy in Burning Shores
I haven't gotten there yet. We'll see. >Drakka
More bullshit. They literally force you to kill one of them even though both of their perspectives are reasonable. The game also wants you to believe that he is an arrogant guy who just wants power so he doesn't count.
Then stack all this up against the various female NPCs who are awesome, competent, smarter than all the other males etc etc. You even have that Quen librarian fail to show any remorse about her dead body guards, claim that "everyone has their role" yet turn around and parkour and slay giant machines because you haven't have a women be a damsel. Their bias is clear.
I hate how a lot of the good advanced arrows are crafted with that sludge substance and you can only carry 15 of that substance at most.
I got that fancy legendary precision bow or whatever it's called from the arena and it doesn't have access to normal precision arrows, only advanced ones that require that ingredient.
I hate that upgrading some of the legendary gear can take fricking dozens of hours of grinding if you're unlucky.
If I got a cool new toy maybe let me have some fun with it?
In the first few hours of playing I thought to myself "oh, Aloy is more confident now, that will make her character and interactions more interesting this time around". I was wrong, she's still a charisma black hole. The only difference now from the first game is that she's adverse to receiving/asking for help as well.
And again she's flawless in everyone's eyes. Just like the first game. There's not a lot of character growth from what I've seen so far. (I've gotten 2 subroutines merged with Gaia).
Story so far has been interesting enough to keep me engaged.
It's a very pretty game with some questionable design decisions and a boring protagonist.
Sludges comes from apex machines. My advice is not to touch legendary weapons except the one you get from relic challenges or races until you reach to the end game or near the end game(legendary warrior bow from races can break the game btw, especially with spread shot). You also can carry more if you decide to craft your ammo on the bench rather than on the run. Bench crafting takes less resources.
Also don't forget to check your chest in the base. You will get freebies after EVERY main mission.
Burning Shores also has it's own legendaries and they are far far easy to upgrade. So don't upgrade them for now imo.
I'm level sixty.... two I think? Upgraded all my pouches and I have all the skills/perks, Just need to upgrade all the valor skills now.
I have a decent amount of sludge banked (250-300 I think) and I try to craft the rare shit at a workbench.
I've gotten a few legendaries so far while doing side quests and it's annoying that the cool Sharpshot legendary I got can't use normal precision arrows.
Or the legendary elemental hunter bow uses 3 advanced ammo types that all use sludge for crafting.
"Oh, you went through the effort of doing all the bullshit necessary to get yourself a cool legendary? Sorry, you can't use it too much, you'd be having too much fun."
It's dumb. It's a fricking singleplayer videogame, not a second job or an MMO grindfest
300 sludges is more than enough to go through the whole game without ever farming sludges. You just need to go to the inventory chest every once in a while. I think they did 15 sludge limit to prevent cheesing. You can craft like 40 advanced explosive spike with that.
>The only difference now from the first game is that she's adverse to receiving/asking for help as well.
It would have been nice if they made each NPC partner really good at one particular thing so that they were actually helpful. Erend is a melee only fighter so you could increase his knockdown rate. Talanah is a master hunter so she could hit weak spots easily etc. Instead it almost seems purposeful because the player views partners are useless NPCs that will only injure themselves, which is how Aloy views them kek so she always refuses help. >It's a very pretty game with some questionable design decisions and a boring protagonist.
This about sums up my experience so far.
It's mostly because someone spent hundreds of hours to ensure that one specific hair style looks good in all the situations. They don't want you to not see it especially from the back. That's also why there isn't a single helmet that covers the back of her head.
I bought it and refunded it so I was able to write a negative review on steam.
Gameplay is mindnumbingly boring btw, great enviroments but they are totally empty, zero itneraction, you jsut move to the next yellow ladder or climable object
Because that's what every reviewer compares Horizon to. Anons already mentioned Witcher 3 itt btw. I don't understand why journalists wants Horizon to be a BotW clone. I like Horizon because it's Horizon rather than something it's not.
Witcher 3 literally has the same problem as Horizon. It's an empty open world filled with monsters to fight. The difference is that people like the side quests more in witcher 3.
Dude, the first one made fighting robot dinosaurs boring, a feat previously thought impossible.
Why should I bother with the second one? Shit's been cracked since day one, I'd rather play Bloons lol
Guerilla Games has never made a good product, yes, even your precious Killzone games are 1/10 garbage. You have mid taste and probably like marvel movies.

I played Horizon Zero Dawn. I loved HZD. I even played and loved Frozen Wilds. Forbidden West looked completely unnecessary in the face of HZD's ending g and everything I learned about it post release made it sound worse
Well, if you played the ZD for story then sure. FW is unnecessary. If you play it for gameplay it's just an upgrade.
I genuinely enjoyed the first one. It was pretty, the cinematics weren't too invasive, the story was interesting, and the game-play was smooth as butter. I had a tonne of fun nuking robo-dinosaurs with a bow, and I especially love archery in general.
I could not believe how far the polish dropped in number two. The lack of care in the animations was evident everywhere. The whole game feels like eurojank, the crafting and inventory system are slow, the quests are pure drudgery, the enemies are unbalanced and spammy. I was super wary of purchasing it because i didn't see any improvement from the original, and I knew that they were likely to have bled dev talent. I got it for super cheap (discount bin $5 cheap), so I'm not chapped about the lost cash, but what a waste of time. I couldn't even get halfway through this game before I uninstalled it. It's SO boring.
How is it cinematic besides having good graphics? It doesn't have walkie-talkie segments. It doesn't have forced walking segments. Even when game gives you companions you can just ignore them and run to the destination. They run alongside you. Your control is never taken away from you besides the cutscenes. You can skip all the cutscenes etc.
I'm going to call you 'Uranus' because your density is like 1.3

The idea is that everything you did in the first game was pointless because GAIA self destructed, so shit's fricked even if you beat HADES, which is still running, not destroyed yet.
So in Forbidden West you journey to recover the various functions of GAIA to rebuild her.
Also, you do this is in a race with the Zenith, who are humans that left Earth during apocalypse and came back to use Gaia as a mean to wipe out the new life on Earth and rebuild it for themselves.
Also, GAIA is a black woman, because of course she is, what do you expect.
>Also, GAIA is a black woman, because of course she is, what do you expect.
It make sense in the story. GAIA, like a black woman, doesn't accomplish anything. She depends on a White woman to get the job done. The story would be boring if she was a White omnipotent AI who just fixes the planet in like one second.

Am i the only one who finds dumb that some shitters with a bow can beat multiple war machines with arrows? I'm not talking about the robo dinos, i'm talking about the corruptors and the deathbringers, those weren't a shitty AI prompt but the ones that killed the world, the in game equivalent of a tank
yeah I always thought it was a bit weird how the robots were made of fricking metal and some b***h with a bow can do enough damage to pry off parts. I get why they didn't want guns in the setting, but it seems just a bit hard to believe the velocity of an arrow pull is strong enough to bend steel. It would have been a bit more immersive if the weak points were the joints or back of the knees for most of these robots.

I pirated the latest one, it's nice of Sony to not use Denuvo. I'll play it at some point.
The only times she looks good is when that stupid hair style is covered up
Kind of insane of them to not provide different hairstyle options to be honest
It's mostly because someone spent hundreds of hours to ensure that one specific hair style looks good in all the situations. They don't want you to not see it especially from the back. That's also why there isn't a single helmet that covers the back of her head.
It looks good from the back (which is probably more important for a third person game) but I hate how it looks from the front
Let's settle it down once and for all. Left or right, Ganker?
These both looks like absolute dog shit, so much that even the original brutally mogs them.
Right. But unfortunately because some women who won't play the game look like left, you will have accept that they chose left to make them upset.
I bought it and refunded it so I was able to write a negative review on steam.
Gameplay is mindnumbingly boring btw, great enviroments but they are totally empty, zero itneraction, you jsut move to the next yellow ladder or climable object
It's not a Zelda game, games like ER or Witcher 3 has even less interraction yet no one says this about them.
The post you replied to didn't mention Zelda. ER or Witcher 3.
Why are you bringing them up, shill-anon?
Because that's what every reviewer compares Horizon to. Anons already mentioned Witcher 3 itt btw. I don't understand why journalists wants Horizon to be a BotW clone. I like Horizon because it's Horizon rather than something it's not.
Witcher 3 literally has the same problem as Horizon. It's an empty open world filled with monsters to fight. The difference is that people like the side quests more in witcher 3.
Witcher's 3 is well written
Dude, the first one made fighting robot dinosaurs boring, a feat previously thought impossible.
Why should I bother with the second one? Shit's been cracked since day one, I'd rather play Bloons lol
I have taste and aren't interested in "cinematic" ubislop with ugly dyke protagonists.
Horizon isn't a cinematic game
Horizon is exact opposite of Killzone anon... KZ2 fans hated 3 and SF just because they were faster than KZ2 in fact. Horizon is faster than any of the KZ games.
>Killzone
Linear
Slow paced gameplay
High input lag
FPS
>Horizon
Open world
Fast paced gameplay
Low input lag
TPS
Well, if you played the ZD for story then sure. FW is unnecessary. If you play it for gameplay it's just an upgrade.
>The whole game feels like eurojank
SOVL...
>Horizon is exact opposite of Killzone anon
That's a moot point you fricking dullard.
>Horizon isn't a cinematic game
Yes it is, it's a Play Station game after all.
The camera angles are cinematic therefore it is a cinematic game. Jesus christ you are fricking dense.
>The camera angles are cinematic
I'm going to call you 'Uranus' because your density is like 1.3
Rule of thumb when it comes to cinematic games is protagonist covering left half of the screen completely. That's not the case with Horizon. You can adjust FOV anyways.
That's your rule, that isn't how everyone else sees it.
>everyone else
I literally explained how uncinematic it is. It's less cinematic than something like AssCreed or Ghost of Tsushima. You don't have tailing missions or forced walking segments in Horizon.
He doesn't actually play video games anon. No one cared about "cinematic games" when Red dead 2 came out anyway.
you're cute, aloy, but i don't want to sit through hours of you talking to random npcs that i don't give a frick about
the game is boring as shit
Guerilla Games has never made a good product, yes, even your precious Killzone games are 1/10 garbage. You have mid taste and probably like marvel movies.
I played Horizon Zero Dawn. I loved HZD. I even played and loved Frozen Wilds. Forbidden West looked completely unnecessary in the face of HZD's ending g and everything I learned about it post release made it sound worse
>Also, GAIA is a black woman, because of course she is, what do you expect
>Also, GAIA is a black woman, because of course she is, what do you expect.
It make sense in the story. GAIA, like a black woman, doesn't accomplish anything. She depends on a White woman to get the job done. The story would be boring if she was a White omnipotent AI who just fixes the planet in like one second.
>You've got some explaining to do Ganker.
It just doesn't appeal to me. Sorry I guess?
I jerk off too much already
waiting for a sale on the DLC
The mystery of the end of the world and the robo dinos was solved in the first game, i have no interest in the second one
I enjoy the world building, the characters are just insufferably full of themselves.
>Generic open world game with basic crafting and rpg mechanics
Hard pass.
It has actual gameplay. Check dubs:
I have no interest in playing an ubisoft skinned open world with shit gameplay, but the mecha designs is good.
