i wouldn't know. All i did was watch the story mode on youtube. I grew up playing mortal kombat local multiplayer with friends and we were roughly equal to in terms of skill. The online multiplayer of fighting games is too sweaty for me, so I have no reason to actually play the game if I can watch the story mode and the endings online.
Terrible online experience. Focused on cash shop. Unappealing and simplistic characters.

The story mode is kino. That's where all those assets come in.
Most of that space is just deliberately wasted on bullshit like translations for 47 languages in FLAC quality. Companies think massive file sizes are a deterrent for piracy when they're a deterrent for everybody.

Nobody played MK because of the gameplay.
They played it for the martial arts fanservice and they removed it for capeshit, censorship and Hollywood production values that wowed normalgays for a bit but now the novelty has wore off.

MKX is probably one of the best fighting games ever made. Better than Tekken 8 ngl. MK11 and MK1 suck ass though
Was waiting for a sale - MKX and MK11 both had decent story modes and long term content (outside of just online competitive multiplayer) which was nice. Last i recalled with 11 they had some costumes or shit and new characters, but it was traditional DLC and expansions not cash shop grind for $18 skins or some shit? Did this change with MKOne or something?
The costumes aren’t in the dlc packs and you need to buy them or grind them which is a drag because invasion mode sucks.
That' unfortunate. What about fatalities or any other content? I mean, I kind of get unlocking stuff through play, but if they make it stupidly grindy AND give you the chance to skip it by paying, that's shifty bullshit.

when I said that when the game first release, people called me a "coomer" who just wanted to jack off to the characters.
But it's true, people like looking at pretty things and dislike looking at ugly things.

Maybe I'm just desensitized but the fatalities did nothing for me. For me, 50% of the fatality is the backstory that happens BEFORE the fatality. And MK1 lacked that synergy. It's hard to explain.
It's just not a good fighting game. Slow, clunky, formulaic and one dimensional as frick. Feels like molasses to play. Generic dial a combo into assists over and over. Shit online. Microtransactions out the ass. It just doesn't feel like a good fighting game.
