Alright I will play this game.
Everyone says it's the best pokemon ever and I skipped that gen.
I hope it has as much soul as you claim.

unless you have nostalgia for it it’s boring as frick
THAT'S EVERY FRICKING POKEMON GAME ASIDE FROM SCARLET & VIOLET
Yeah, Scarlet and Violet is just absolutely atrocious for everyone, not even nostalgia tards in the future would want to touch it even with a 10 feet pole
enjoy, king
Thanks, man. I'll enjoy it.
yes it's the peak and the series swan song
It's the peak and i say this with my first game being gold and i still think this remake was the best
>any pokemon game
>good
only mystery dungeon is good
t. moron that eats the goyslop that was DX
it's fine. didn't care for johto in gen 2 so i had no strong feelings for hgss
literally nobody mentioned DX but i'm a DXchad now
The only good thing in PMD is Level 1 dungeons like Purity Forest and Destiny Tower.
take it slow and soak in all the details, make sure to try each feature at least once
Platinum/HGSS/PLA are the top3 pokemon games
replace PLA with emerald and you have all of the good regions
Which is better Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire or Emerald?
Emerald has the battle frontier while ORAS has dex navy and better mirage islands. Honestly both versions of hoenn are good in their own way.
This. ORAS was a disappointment for lacking the Frontier, but the Maison works better in ORAS than it did in XY, even if it is recycled for the most part. The game has solid move tutors (that they later charged a premium for in USUM kek) and the Dexnav makes obtaining hidden abilities and wild held items a breeze. You also have access to the special split, modern breeding QoL, expanded movesets, every pokemon up to Gen 6 (unfortunately some only via transfer/trade), the fairy type, and mega evolution. You have a lot of freedom with viable team building, and there are several formats to play through. Multi battles can be fun if you have anyone to play with.
Didn’t think much of ORAS on my first playthrough, but I was surprised at how much it offered when I revisited it this year.
>the fairy type
You lost me there.
not that anon but I think PLA is my favorite pokemon game.
I've replayed emerald and crystal way more but damn was it fun to fully complete that dex
I'm still so mad they completely ditched the catch mechanics in gen 9
Same but i wouldn't say it's my favorite one. But from the modern games it really is the most fun to play and complete the dex. World looks like ass but what pokemon game that doesn't look like shit right?
Yeah pretty much. They're always so far behind. Unironically LGPE might be the best looking pokemon game
Emerald should be there and i say this while enjoying PLA a lot
You should also play the og GS to truly understand the power of Gen 2.
The entire lineup on the DS is good. You can judge a series health by the quality of its spin-offs and the DS spin-offs we’re all kino. They turned to shit as soon as the series went 3D so it can be assumed 3D killed the series.
>inb4 BORT BORT BORT REEEEEE
I preemptively accept your concession.
if you're playing this on twilightmenu be aware that there are some graphical bugs, menus and text prompts can cause the lighting to flicker and the 3d cutscenes may not render at all
As someone who played GSC, I can say it mogs them hard. If you're looking for content and soul, this is it.
Protip, if you want the GSC johotomons that you normally can't get until the postgame before then, look up the Safari Zone and how to use it. You can get basically all of them via the Safari Zone, plus a lot of other mons that are either hard to come by or locked to postgame. After the postgame, you can actually get some gen 3-4 mons there.
You better not rush it. This game is best enjoyed slowly, you need to really take your time and enjoy the daily routine aspect of it in order to get the most out of it.
this also with the pokewalker.
>tfw lost my pokewalker over 10 years ago
OP here, it's time to game.
>Cyndaquil
My homie
How are you enjoying it so far OP?
>Playing as female mario
I'm disappointed
I always play as girls.
It's a female Cyndaquil so all's good.
Comfy and fun. I got to the Violet City yesterday and caught Mareep, maybe I'll go for Ampharos or Jolteon if I look up where to find Eevee. After exploring the surroundings, the Tower and the Gym, I'll do my best to head to Route 34 to catch Ralts as Gardevoir is one of my favs. I have no other plans for my team.
I chose SS because it's called SOUL Silver and SOUL is what I want from my game.
You can't get Gen III-IV mons before post-game.
What the frick, you're not joking.
That's some bullshit design. What's the point?
similar reasons why in FRLG you couldn't get gen II-III mons before postgame. the most frustrating part about any remake.
hgss still my favorite tho.
>What's the point?
It was always like this with games pre bank i think. For me was always a normal thing but i can understand that it sounds stupid now.
To not mess up with my nostalgia
Sinnoh/Hoenn sounds should have been unlocked much earlier. Same shit happens in ORAS where you can't really get anything outside of the old RS Pokedex until after the primals frick shit up right before you get the 8th badge but by that time your team is/should already be set. The other anon already mentioned FRLG and how it locks every non Kanto Pokemon until you complete the post game.
I think unlocking the Nat Dex after the 7th Badge/Legendary climax is a good idea, actually. In my HGSS hack, I spread out the Gen 4 cross-Gen evolution items between Route 42 to Victory Road, because it felt natural. I also really liked how npc trainers in ORAS used Pokémon from all Gens after the Primal Groudon/Kyogre stuff. HGSS should've given you Hoenn/Sinnoh sounds after defeating Archer.
Post-Lance is far from the end of the game. ORAS may give you the natdex earlier, but there's almost nothing left of the game by the time you get it
You can get a few of the Gen IV cross evolutions like Ambipom and Yanmega.
>I chose SS because it's called SOUL Silver and SOUL is what I want from my game.
Lol, but the good thing about Johto is that you can have both legendaries so in a way both games have soul in them. It was a time that the greedy fricks at game freak didn't make legendaries exclusive yet.
>cyndaquil
>Lyra
You just know.
>Lyra
Cyndaquil fits better with Ethan
>ss
I sure hope you didn't choose SS
>cyndaquil
soulless
good fricking choice OP cyndaquil is the best one
awesome artwork
Yeah, I took it immediately after seeing the starters because it looks so damn cool. It just evolved into Quilava here in the Tower.
How much experience do you have with Pokémon?
nice I am playing silver alongside you and I named him Black person
I wanted to name him Black person as well but I thought israelite is slightly better for a thief, it was a hard choice and took me some time to reflect. Just beat the first gym and got the egg thingy.
I played Red many times as a kid, then fire red, emerald, all of gen5 as an adult, gen7, gen9.
>Naming Silver all kinds swear words
Ah the memories. You are already enjoying the games like we did.
it has a lot of love and attention to detail put into it. that said, it's also a gen 4 game. it's slow.
The only reason I played this game was the pokeathlon. Every time I try to replay it I just get stuck at the pokeathlon all over again and have zero drive to continue with the actual game because it's so damn fun
its a lot better than the modern games thats for sure
i only like that game more cause it has pokeathlon and following pokemon (and the best looking female protag)
>best looking female protag
This isnt unova though?
Depending on if you are more of a gen 1 guy or gen 4 guy you should play GSC instead first
Don't get me wrong, HGSS are fantastic games but I always come back to GSC for the sheer charm.
Why do they look so good? Damn
Gen 2 sprites gen 3-5 sprites and 3D models so hard
Now post the GS Raikou sprite.
I don't understand why we need another Paradox Raikou
It's pretty good. Not as good as the originals to me especially with the gen 4 slowness, but I liked the Pokewalker and they have an actual Safari Zone. Bit of a nitpick but I was disappointed Goldenrod didn't have elemental punch tutors for old time's sake.
>HG/SS
Vomit
>GSC
Soul
