They had a concept for a BK remake that would expand each world in various ways. One example is you would be able to drain the water from Treasure Trove Cove, and explore caves underground.

Overall, they don't really need remaking though. They're a product of their time, and their N64-isms are charming. I'd rather just have a new Banjo Game that's an actual adventure, as opposed to some vehicle thing.

      >Overall, they don't really need remaking though

I reject this mentality. I mean you're not even wrong, BK holds up absurdly well. But I still firmly reject the notion that a remake couldn't meet all expectations AND exceed them AND become the greatest games in the series and surprise all of us with how much more fantastic they are than the originals, in ways we didn't even anticipate were possible

Just because a mediocre Banjo clone was made by some members of Rare (who didn't seem to get many important things about the original games), doesn't mean I'm going to write off the entire platforming genre as some relic that just can't be good in the modern day.

Also that patch was to redesign the Impossible Lair's difficulty and fix getting the secret tonic for it that was such horseshit that I can't believe they designed it that way originally and call bullshit on anyone who says it was an "oversight".

I don't think people want a remake of these as much as they want to relive being 8 years old, receiving a vhs tape in the mail with the cartoon duo on it and excitedly marching to block buster every week until they got this mythical game in their hands. The gameplay is terrible and a remake wouldn't mask this. It would only further undermine the reputation of banjo.

Either give them modding tools to fix it themselves or just let them lament. We can't expect companies to adhere to our standards of how WE individually remember a game's graphics, since they never listen and it's a never ending battle if listening to autistic nitpicks, which they never have time for or care about anyway. They either up-res the original graphics or leave it be -- no in-betweens.

I'm kind of curious to see what a B&K remake would look like because despite the texture work looking really good, it weird to see things like pipes just be a flat texture or the sand castle just be a giant block, so it'd be nice to see some of that have dimensions and depth to the objects. I have a feeling it'd look something like Yooka-Laylee in terms of graphics or even OoT3D.

      Anonymous

I don't really understand your post. "People don't actually want these games because the gameplay is bad"... okay, I've heard this before. "It would undermine the reputation of banjo even further" - what do you mean by this? I thought you said the gameplay was bad? What is the "reputation" of banjo that needs to be protected? That it was a great platformer? Oh, you said it sucked though?

Basically, you're just trying to be some sort of contrarian and don't even know what you're talking about.

        It's pretentious for sure.
I'd guess it's his moronic way of saying "Nostalgic memories of playing it as a bab" is protecting its reputation and a remake would prove just how shit it REALLY is when that couldn't be any further from the truth. B&K holds up extremely well and a graphical update would serve as a compliment to the game.

Put Tonics from Yooka in Banjo it would be frickin great. Some cause visual effects, some alter the gameplay itself. I don't think they should be "upgrades", save actual upgrades for the Cheato cheat codes. But stuff that alters gameplay in fun ways, it'd be fantastic

I don't think Banjo's gameplay is bad(or that platformers are somehow a genre that have aged so badly they can't be done now), but I'm not going to argue with him.

I mean, it's a game for kids, basically. You're not going to get the most robust challenge out of it, but it's a fun game to just play through and appreciate the atmosphere of every few years.

    Sonic 3D: Flickies' Island
I would love to see this get remade, I know SEGA would never do it, but fans as autistic for this one as me, though with actual talent for developing things like this, unlike me, could pull this off... I'm not too hopeful though.
I'd love to see a version of this that actually takes advantage of the Saturn, how it could've been if SEGA requested Travellers' Tales to do a Saturn version from the start, but in full 3D. In this case, the mechanics and level design are kept intact, the aesthetic style and OST aswell, everything... but in full 3D.
I mean, this alone changes the entire thing in a really positive way, as Sonic would feel more natural to control, and jumping on enemies here wouldn't be so tricky like in the original at times, I think having various camera styles and settings could really help make this even better for each individual player, and if we're really going balls to the wall here, having multiple characters, Super Sonic on regular levels, and the features added in the DX version, like saving, a level select and an emphasis on various collectables and time trials, it could be a superb 3D Sonic.

A remake of SpongeBob SuperSponge that is based off the PS1 version but also adds elements from the GBA version like the exclusive stages, slap attack by default, better controls for leaf blower, better shark and worm bosses and also realizes some unused concepts like the final boss being revealed to be Plankton in a machine where the wienerpit opens up and he gets mad at SpongeBob. I don't think this will ever happen because very few people care about this game, but I think it's fun and a better version of it would be awesome.

Repost from a few days ago

I got some ways to improve Glitter Gulch Mine. It's not unsalvagable by any means

    >Remove the toxic gas room near the waterfall and just combine it with the Canary Mary room. Having TWO toxic gas rooms is pointless and just confuses people on which one to go to.
    >Make the entire section of minecart tracks inbetween Humba and Mumbo inaccessible and up on stilts. I have repeatedly seen a shitton of people get turned around and disoriented by walking down these since they don't go anywhere useful. Just a big meandering time waste
    >Allow the player to miss 2 dynamite sticks in the FPS game
    >Completely remove the flooded maze. *I* actually like it but the vast vast majority loath the fricking thing. And it just piles onto the navigation-related confusion. Cut it.
    >GIVE THE TNT BOXES WHO SHOOT DYNAMITE AT YOU GOOGLY EYES, YOU MOTHERFRICKERS
    >Have the river drop down 2 feet every like 20 feet. This would instantly help players understand if they are facing the front of the river or the opposite end of it
    >I don't dislike the Humba transformation but frick OFF. I should clearly be able to use Fire Eggs to detonate shit. If you wanna keep the Detonator then you MUST justify it by giving it something more mechanically worthwhile to do.
    >Take the Bill Drill Jamjars and move him directly underneath Bullion Bill's house. Not on the opposite riverside. I have seen many people walk right by it cuz the camera doesn't really point over there naturally.

And lastly, they totally tried to help players navigate by including gem piles of different colors and signs outside caves. This doesn't quite cut it but I also dunno how to fix it

I'm open to remakes of games that warrant remakes.
Anything that had potential but was kind of bungled in the initial execution. If anything, DK64 should be remade, because there's at least half of a really good game in there, that's buried in some questionable design decisions.
They should remake Wind Waker and Mario Sunshine, and actually finish making them this time.
      They should remake DMC2.

Render 96 sillicone graphics ray tracing approach. Plastic foliage with hard saturation, deep dark contrast

Very faithful textures, faces on the cave walls must be kept

    Devil Bottles equivalent for both

Cancel moves into each other, more mario momentum, jump b peck replaced with something that can compete with belly slide

Online Banjo Fall Guys mode, where 99 Banjos are being chased by something and have to navigate traps, slowly creep over narrow walkways in the sky, or just some unique way to feel connected in the singleplayer. Maybe there's 4p coop rush mode where you take on unique coop bosses, split up to find 5 randomized jinjos before time runs out, flying courses, etc. Or maybe you just have other ghost banjos walking around the singleplayer with you. Or just goldeneye w eggs again

Tootie mode for BK and BT

Multiple moves for traversal on transformations

Dragon Kazooie and all Tooie moves can be swopped into Kazooie thru save data

Small snippets of Grunty's Revenge areas snuck into time warps where youll be given small challenges for a jiggy set in those worlds prompting dialogue about its familiarity

    More jamjars, boggy, hunny b

If I was doing a dream remake, I'd have every level be completely open. No loading screens, all one huge ass map. Then have the stop and swap stuff re added. Hell, put all 3 games on 1 cart and make it one huge long continuous game.

      >No loading screens

Big mistake, Banjo-Kazooie still needs loading screens for the same reason characters still need to make funny noises when they talk. What was once born from technical limitations is now iconic. BK would be a worse game without screen transitions. It's part of the series style.

    >What would your dream remakes look like?
    Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters (1998/GB)
I adore old Yu-Gi-Oh! video games, way before its priority was PvP and online above all else... we're talking about proper RPGs here, and this one, the original that got Konami the license for the cards in the first place... doesn't hold up much. I mean, I know this is the closest we'll ever get to a proper RPG based on Duelist Kingdom, my favorite arc in the original series, but being the first meant that they still didn't get everything right.

I'd change this in a remake:
    >An overworld where you can walk around like in Pokémon or Yu-Gi-Oh! The Sacred Cards.
    >A store where you can trade currency for those specific cards you want or to sell.
    >A bunch more cards and things like effects, that way Pegasus' Relinquished can shine.
    >Artwork inspired by the anime in cutscenes, but chibi on the open overworld.
    >All of the unique card artworks in the original in it, but redrawn in color and HD.

      Anonymous

This is actually giving me ideas.
      >Duelist Kingdom arc open island RPG
      >card pool is of the era
      >day-night cycle
      >you can have normal battles with random npc duelists during the day
      >field power bonuses
      >player killers(eliminators) roam during the night and try to hunt you down
      >you can try to hide from them or risk a game over by dueling them
      >major duels from the manga/anime start at 8000 LP and reward star chips that open the castle
      >normal duels at 4000 LP to keep a good game flow and reward some sort of points/currency that can be spent at a traveling merchant to purchase card packs or even perks(like skills in Duel Links) which can be used in normal battles only
      >major duels can be unlocked by fulfilling certain tasks(dueling a certain number of normal duelists, fishing mini game to duel Mako, etc.)
      >finals can be Pokémon elite four style
      >challenge mode after finishing game which prevents save scum and updates decks with modern support, modern card packs available from merchant

    >What would your dream remakes look like?
    Spider-Man vs. The Kingpin
I'm fond of all 4 versions this title had to its name in the early 90's, but the Mega Drive one is by far my favorite, but in theory a dream remake would take the best elements from each. What I love in it is the simple premise, you're Spider-Man, alone instead of having help from any other superhero, and Kingpin has framed you, Kingpin's a powerful enemy that doesn't get enough attention in most Spider-Man video games, but he's used to effect here, having influence to gather various enemies of Spider-Man to execute his plan. I also loved its dark atmosphere, as it was dark, but not too dark for the most part... except when Mary Jane dies... anyways, it's good, and the OST helps with that, I also loved how you had to take photos for JJJ's Daily Bugle, to get money for web fluid, and rest in Peter's apartment to restore health, it added a ton of elements of Peter's life, I also loved that it had a web-shield, which was quite useful for me.

    Here's how it'd be:
    >A fully 3D adventure that takes advantage of modern hardware, with levels fun to explore.
    >NY open world to websling around, but little filled, and mostly being a hubworld for levels.
    >A dark atmosphere, but not too dark/serious as this is still the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
    >Return of the photo mechanic from the Mega Drive and Master System/Game Gear versions.
    >Venom suit from the Master System/Game Gear versions also makes a comeback in all difficulties.
    >No filled like Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen or any of the modern multiverse stuff they love adding.
    >No help from the X-Men or Fantastic Four, in an adventure where you feel lonely, besides MJ.
    >New stuff to do with your webbing, besides the shield, gadgets and more early Spider-Man stuff.
    >All villains from the SEGA CD version make a comeback, also the Todd McFarlane art style.
    >Have bad endings like before, and the 24 hour real time timer that can end up in a game over.

Great concept and ideas. Can't imagine how they'd implement McFarlane's art style but maybe the Spawn show on HBO would be a good starting point.

Thanks! I'm sure the artstyle wouldn't be easy, but if they managed, it'd stand out for that alone, it was a true revolution of Spider-Man art in the 90's, I'm also biased because his Venom is my favorite, I like the additions Erik Larsen made, the tongue, droll and sharp teeth... but the original, with none of those features besides a really long mouth and smile, with way more teeth than the average person, it looked more like a human, just distorted, which I find to be more scary, and it adds to that horror element of Venom.

My dream would be pure direct ports or eventual open sourcing of games so they are jot in rights purgatory if the developers have no method nor intention of returning to a specific IP. Keep it well preserved as is and have it accessible as an executable so that its integrity can be retained, perceived flaws and all. If I wanted things changed I'd ask for a different game.

    This one but with:

    - Better graphics

    - easier to get new cards(more points for every duel won).

    - The arenas in the fights now have audience watching it.

I think having a store similar to Sacred Cards would also help, not having to input passwords for every card and stuff, also being able to buy multiples, and sell cards you have too many copies off that you can't even use
      >No censorship.

targetting tooie would be smarter. More moves, multiplayer already built in for versus and coop essentially, more modes of play like first person and saucer segments, stoneys, kazooie only, etc. It's also the one that has the most to benefit from a few tweaks; I guess what people want is more warp pads or something. For me just fix terrydactyl and demand more from my arsenal with world traversal and its perfect

there has never been a good remake in ANY medium.

      what about blaster master

Zero point in remaking games as modern as ninendo 64. Remakes are worse 99% of the time anyway.thw onlyutility is to conveniently play it on new console

    >What would your dream remakes look like?
A remake of either Sonic 1 or Sonic 2, but in full 3D, literally just taking the level design and not changing much of anything, doing the best they can to simply make it in 3D without it feeling as this 2D title disguised like Crash does (I do love Crash by the way) not much different from how Sonic Adventure 2 did Green Hill, but this time I would want to see the whole thing done, and it needs to feature the physics and control intact from the Genesis.

Sonic is fantastic in 2D, there literally isn't a single good reason for him to not be even better in 3D, but SEGA never translated 2D Sonic into 3D properly, 3D was always a new thing, for better or for worse. I think that Sonic Utopia fangame is a good example, though I'd want the original level designs since they have more focus. Adventure's still the closest we've had officially.

I dream of nobody making another remake of anything ever again.

I'm not a big remake fan, but at the very least, I've always though Shogo would benefit from a remaster. Make the game run well on modern hardware, give the graphics a facelift, etc. Considering how things are, it would be done by Nightdive.
They could probably even do the cancelled expansion packs, if given enough time.

This game fricking sucks so a nightdive port is the only way it can be improved.

    Spider-Man: The Animated Series (1995/SNES & Genesis)
One of my all time favorite versions of this iconic character, the 1994 TAS was everything a fan of the comics wanted to see on their TV screen, and a video game would be icing on the cake... well, it was subpar, one of my main gripes with it is how it looks, it's not bad, but it doesn't look like the TV show at all, especially Spider-Man, besides being buff, both SNES and Genesis could make on model characters for adaptations of animated source material, just look at Disney video games for these consoles... having it actually look like the show, so you feel like you're playing this new interactive episode, would've been huge... also, control needed to feel better than this, both Spider-Man vs. The Kingpin and Arcade's Revenge had already been out for a few years at this point, and featured a Spider-Man that was a blast to control, this has no excuse for feeling so awful, and it's my main issue with this title. I don't hate the level design, with better control I think it'd be fine, I'd just remove the cheap deaths and/or would add unlimited continues, no artificial LJN difficulty to make the experience even more miserable.

It'd be nice if they ported Skies of Arcadia Legends and/or the original Phantasy Star Online to Switch

God what I would love to have this game but with with depth and challenge in its combat. Least make it kinda like yakuza or warriors. Would also like more classes and more interactions with classmates and teachers.

    Frick you nerd, OP

Don't need remakes. Remasters are cool though if they don't switch the dialogue to make it all gay

Just remaster the classics and the best overlooked games. Not that complicated

If I could choose though, probably late 90s/ early 2000s fps, racers, sports and the other classic ones
