This, its a excellent game on Xbox, switch's N64 Emulation shits the bed too much for my liking but the Xbox Series variant is alright even has achievements if you are into that sorta thing and if you only have a PC get the mod that adds mouse/keyboard controls its infinitely better

It was never a good fps. Doom mogged it in every way and still does. It's value was as a 4 player fps in an era where that would otherwise cost upwards of $8000 to get 4 PCs together on a LAN.

It's a very good game for its time. The objective based single player was quite unique for its time especially for a console game.
Perfect Dark does everything Golden Eye does but better and is available on more modern hardware with better control options.

The game is designed around the N64 controller. To accommodate it, enemies have slow animations that are interrupted when you shoot them. Using kb+m is literally game breaking.

The controls were horrible even for its time. Even King's Field had better controls, and that game's controls were awful.

going for the time trial cheat unlocks is super fricking fun.
The only thing holding Goldeneye back is the hardware and low framerate. The controls are fine and a lot of the features are still cool even by today's standards.
