It's got a solid foundation as a unique survival crafting game and a monster catching sim. They just need to build on it, flesh out the world a bit more, make dungeons something other than dank caves, ect. It is one of the first games in a long time that I am actually excited for.
It's a pretty decent game considering its developed by a bunch of monkeys. But it does need a lot more things and i mean a LOT. Give me:
-More enemy types and different behavior, enemies shouldn't behave like simpleton bots if they are only using one kind of attack, but if they are going to be simpleton bots at LEAST let something like human enemies also play under your same rules and use Pals (imagine the Samurai musket battles in horseback)
-More guns that fill different roles, or at least balance the current arsenal to be akin to Doom 2's arsenal where every weapon has uses for any situation. Shit like the early level crafted guns should have stronger variants in the late game like explosive arrows if you get to that level and definitely a buff/rehaul to melee combat
-More pal activities, let me sleep with pals, let me decorate pals with cosmetic stuff like hats, let me have more ways to torment misbehaving pals, let me have Pals wield their guns at all times without you mounting them, give me more Pals that use guns/mount guns on pals
-More bosses that involve BIG pals strapped with BIG guns, i want to see some Metal Slug-esque shit
-An actual story, or some elaborate thing that can justify the capture of humans and especially a legal intended way to get the tower bosses. I want Zoe and Lily on their fricking knees in my base. It doesn't need to be that elaborate or expansive, just make the story faction based (become a pal liberator or become a poacher or do some shady researching or become judge dredd by joining the cops or become an anarchist and conquer the world your own way) and have the big endgame tree do something different depending on said faction choice
-Let us play as Pals, nuff said.
-Improve and optimize the game, this game could succeed a LOT if it aims to play perfectly on something like the Steam Deck or something with lower specs without mods
-PvP that exists just as a for-fun thing, let us do CTF at least.
Also said story elements about factions do involve its own questline and side quests. Palworld 100% needs more of those. It could help balance out base management with combat and exploration by having resources available through sidequests so you don't have to do some dumb grinding at base.
And sure, base management is a lot better than it was on launch (oh god how did people play this game before forcing pals to 1 task rather than praying they do the shit they should be doing), but it feels like Palworld is 60% base building autism 30% catching pals 10% actual combat.
Also give me a merchant faction, i want to be a happy merchant and do some [REDACTED] shit.

This could very well be a good reason for capturing humans with Pal Spheres, having a PalDex equivalent for the different types of humans would be a major boon for the game >No equivalent of smart pokemon that could interact with humans and speak to you, or someting Mystery Dungeon-ish like Pals speaking and talking.

combat is fun, building is fun, teching up is rewarding.
unlocking stuff is paced OK though errs on the side of being a little too grindy, but at least the devs had the braincells to just let you edit the game settings so you can increase XP gain or drop rates etc.
my main issue with it is it's an Intro Boy game (aka: blows its load early, gets shit in the mid-late game).
its fricking AMAZING up to about lv30, then you've killed most of the bosses already and explored like 80% of the map. leveling gets really slow and grindy, rewards arent as cool and the game just kind of grinds to a halt.
I went from being completely sucked in, to "yeah ima play some palworld n chill" to "meh cant be bothered" all in the span from lv20 to lv40.
by lv40 i couldnt stomach it anymore and stopped playing.
might just be a me thing though, like 2/3rds the games i play are only good in the early game and i get bored and just restart by the mid-game because the early game is the fun part.
I enjoyed it. The bugs that caused me the most pain were fixed to my knowledge, though I don't know if late game grinding is still gay and annoying. Oh well, I will replay it eventually when there's a lot more content. It was worth the purchase
Dropped it after a week because there was no convenient way to store and organize a large number of pals.
This still hasn't been fixed even after the recent big patch adding a ton of QoL.

The dust hasn't settled for me yet. I just found a Flambelle and it's the cutest thing ever. I love petting it. Plus it puts in work smithing ingots and at the ranch, and I'm always in need of flame organs for my arrows.

Except it didn't. The FOTM phase is over, and even the minmax autists are not playing anymore because thanks to customizable EXP gain etc. they have already bred their perfect specimens.
The turning point is going to happen once they drop actual big content patch. Based on amount of returning players it will be easy to judge whether it was just a FOTM or not
