Druid and technically diablo but I haven't beat him yet. It just doesn't feel as good to me as 3 does overall.

The ultimate redpill is that diablo 2 fans moved onto diablo 3 but don't talk about it because of incessant shit posting tied to diablo 3s launch. Seasonal gift pushing is just more satisfying than anything LOD has to offer out of the box.
It's just nostalgia. People who played Diablo 2 just have good memories of it because they were younger, had less extractions for videogames and life was simple and happy.
Diablo 3 is better in everyway except that I was dumber and happier and more innocent when I was playing Diablo 2 and this enjoyed it more.
Game starts at Nightmare. Then the real itemization starts to come into play and your character starts to kill fast and feel invincible once you track down a few holy grail items and build some runewords.
Nah, D2 itemization is amazing and way more impactful. We basically traded it for amazing combat in 3 and now4 (though the jury is still out for D4 endgame). None of the 3 games are perfect, but 2 will always have the most robust loot endgame.
the game content is actually dangerous and the itemization and skills ae deep enough you can cheese your way through some content that is otherwise a slog so it feels good to get through tough stuff quickly because of your smartness or in todays case game knowledge i guess.
The downside is that some classes arent fun to play at certain parts of the game. either early game or lategame depending on the class, but i guess it comes down to preference.
I've been playing the remake and I can't remember of the arcane sanctuary was always that scuffed. Also did skeletons used to stack in chokepoints or where they always cucked to one at a time?
No it isn't. I am literally doing Countess runs right now hunting very specific things, but also finding random shit that is completely changing how my character plays.
D3 was just find ever escalating higher damage number and the one to two meta legendary slot/ set piece for the character.

Jury is out on D4, but 3 isn't a great indicator. As I already pointed out most of these stats are either completely missing or just not as impactful with how you build a character in D3.
>make singer barb >moron screech to make myself stupidly tanky and strong >literally moron screech enemies to death >then moron screech the loot out of their corpses
Literally no other ARPG has this build and that's why I still play D2
normal mode always feels kind of bad since you dont really get your build working smoothly till level 50 or so, unless you pick one of the builds that work good out of the box
No World Of Warcraft cartoon graphics and combat. Maybe the combat is slower, but I would rather have slower combat than Fornite: Diablo Edition. Also, I just got done playing the remastered version and it looks great.
I played all of D2 last year with a friend
I don't think it's the masterpiece people like to claim but it was VERY fun to play, I love summoner classes and very few games do them justice, D2 is the best one I've ever seen (Necromancer)
It was actually one of the few games that after I completed it I wanted to keep playing to get more skeletons and level up my skills in general (but I didn't do it because my friend refused)
We tried D3 after and it was almost like it was an entirely different series, Necromancer on that game was so underwhelming compared to D2, and everything about the game felt like it was focused on the online, post-game, build, min-maxing and all that shit rather than a great campaign and great progression
And we dropped D3 on the second act I think
All I think is that D3 wasn't the real sequel to D2 and could've evolved many things about D2 but that didn't happen
>2 Jahs and a Lo to still be worse off than a hammerdin with spirits and lore
its impressive just how much time and effort is required to make any kind of melee build work when compared to how stupidly fricking simply and effective magic/elemental builds are. its even more impressive that after all this time the developers never bothered to make melee competitive/less dogshit

The main thing D2 has over D3 is build disparity. You could have a good character, or you could have a bad character. D3 is genuinely better in a lot of ways, but it is somewhat handhold-y in the sense that you just need to equip whatever items buff the skills you want to use, or whatever skills match what items you happen to have. It isn't as engaging as looking at a skill tree and planning out your levels, then getting rewarded later with a badass character. D3 just can't create that classic feeling of starting up a game with a couple friends and then having a friend be able to absolutely powerlevel/gear you because their dude was awesome, or being that awesome dude. Everyone is just kind of at the same level because it's hard to make a guy that can fail the content until like T6. I guess you could say that means it's balanced better, but at least for me I don't think that's a universally good thing.
A lot of the other differences are very subjective, like the graphics/art style. D3 is a lot more stylized/cartoony, so the gore just hits different. It looks better in motion, sure, better effects, better animations, all that jazz...but it's not metal. D2 just had a little more grit to it. The other thing for me is lethality. I primarily play on hardcore mode and D2 can kill you really easily. I only ever maxed out one character in D2 because I'd die sooner or later despite my best efforts, in D3 I was able to cap out every class and only died during the ladder seasons when I was trying to one up people for the lulz.
Depends on how attached you are to the level 99 race. If you care about being a super hardcore first to 99 I need to kill Baal 200,000 times to get first, then terror zones are a casualized mistake. Otherwise, terror zones are just something to break up the monotony of farming the pit/cs/at/wsk for the billionth time. I'd imagine more people would be upset at sunders, but considering casters were already consistently buffed in D2 and melee was already trash pre-sunder, casters getting buffed even more is just expected at this point. Same for the next hit delay changes, just more caster buffs.
>play on controller >get access to multiple skill hotkeys
Why in God's name is M&K still limited to one skill slot? God forbid Blizzard change the original UI since they seem to be so keen on changing everything else
what class are you trying to play, what lvl and act are you on.

You can't. The nostalgia bittergays pretend 2 is better than 3.
D3 is superior to D2 in almost every way other then having trade.

Autism. You spam one attack and target specific items to let you spam that one attack better
Poe is the best Arpg. it’s not even close and I’m sick of any other opinion.

>Alright, you boomers need to teach me about the appeal of Diablo 2
there isnt one, all diablo games are inconceivably bad
Next you're gonna tell me how Ultima Online was the greatest
its certainly better than diablo, but no OSRS is just a straight up improved version of ultima online and is the best ancapistan simulator
Yep, you got pegged for the exact kind of snob I figured. galaxy brain moment.

Diablo 3 is terrible. What are you talking about? The cutscenes are neat, but the gameplay is World Of Warcraft but in a Diablo setting.
Why is 2 better then?
No World Of Warcraft cartoon graphics and combat. Maybe the combat is slower, but I would rather have slower combat than Fornite: Diablo Edition. Also, I just got done playing the remastered version and it looks great.

You build a shrine to Baal from all the corpses you have slain.

Bait thread.
I love Diablo 2's amazing itemization where 90% of unique weapons, shields, and armors are trash compared to runewords.
>you should just wear all unique items
>He doesn't have fun doing Set Only or Unique Only runs
Were terror zones a good addition to the game? Why or why not

i haven't reached at least lvl 90 you can't talk about the game being slow or whatever. teleporting around on a sorc in d2 is way faster than d3

Yeah it's moronic. Sad to say as soon as I started using controller in D2R I can't go back to m+kb now.
you know there's quick cast right?
If you even have to ask, you have literal shit for a brain.
