Does a "killer" status really apply when released for the same console?
It's the right PR thing to say since it was an Aonuma game after all, but honestly it's not even a multiplayer game and the point-and-click stuff makes for a very mellow adventurey kind of experience. I'd say TH has more in common with games like Goof Troop really
>It's the right PR thing to say since it was an Aonuma game after all, but honestly it's not even a multiplayer game
Depends on which game you mean.
>SNES CD (92) >SNES cart Proto (95)
Cancelled, had a direct port to SNES and the proto ROM was leaked but half of it was overwritten and unusable.
Supposed to be Captain Maverick (Indiana Jones type of character) fighting a pirate, and the three boys following him throughout the world. Had animated skits and full motion anime videos.
Story is slightly different from the released versions. >BS Marvelous: Time Athletics (96)
First released version, stamp collecting minigame, zelda gameplay, set in a summer camp >Marvelous: Another Treasure Island (96)
Point and click gameplay (except final chapter and some dungeons), grand adventure using an episodic structure >BS Marvelous: Camp Arnold (96)
Set between Time Athletics and Another Treasure Island. Leans more on the point and click gameplay.
>Marvelous GameCube - cancelled (03) >Navi's Trackers standalone - cancelled (03) >JP-exclusive mode in Zelda Four Swords (04)
This one is actually based on Time Athletics. It's the stamp collecting thing, but refined as an arcade gameplay experience (even remnants of its Marvelous iteration show the same focus, it would have only Dion), so less indoor zones and more fun situations and a shit ton of stamps.
>Triforce Heroes (14)
Has the "three heroes needed to progress past a level" but with action Zelda-esque situations rather than the more laid back point and click experience. It looks like it's inspired by the boss battles and dungeons in Another Treasure Island, but some situations are unfun in single player, hence why multiplayer is "recommended" to help alleviate that.
>TH has something it common with Goof Troop
Goof Troop is way more fun.

Four Swords on Gamecube has unused beta assets in the files that show Marvelous characters, before the game got turned into Zelda.

Or when the "killer" is never ever even brought up when talking about the thing it supposedly killed?
>Solo?
Yes, it's surprisingly fun if you don't binge it and play like 1 level a day. Some bosses and moments are hard as shit though and require luck because they were designed with multiplayer in mind. So far I beat 4 levels out of 8. It's not nearly as good as FSA though, FSA is awesome.
OG Four Swords is the shitty multiplayer Zelda game. It's one of the most boring games I've ever played. Also the extra hard stuff they added in the Anniversary Edition is straight up unfair and unbalanced, I barely got through Hero's Trial, one of the hardest Zelda challenges for all the wrong reasons. >inb4 you are supposed to play with friends
No, I don't care. It has Zelda in its title therefore I'm judging the single player mode. Just like with RE5 and RE6, I had tons of fun with friends but they suck as Resident Evil games. Same goes for Outbreak. It's not Left 4 Dead which has been marketed as a multiplayer series from the very beginning. Should've been a new IP
Also speaking of Goof Troop, it's an accurate comparison, nice
Game doesn't play nothing like ALTtP, I would put this instead
Also >Mega RPG Project
Completly off topic but there is a JRPG franhise not created in the Famicom that managed the popularity of DQ and FF?
Even the best selling Persona game, P5, managed only to sell 750K an that is with Royal included.
>what if ALLTP was just wandering around a mostly empty overworld, linearly upgrading your gun, and going through dungeons that are just a series of screens with barely any puzzles
its a hidden gem for sure
The only thing it killed was its developer even before it was properly finished.
played this recently. Text is boring as hell, the game is linear af and exploration is unrewarding
>Text is boring as hell,
tbh the existing English translation is barebones and at times awful.
It's not properly adapted (or as low IQ people would say "localized") so any nuances, double meaning, humor, and puns are missing. For example there's a riddle in the fourth chapter for which the answer is supposed to be "one", and in English the hint is translated "it's about a dog" (because "bark bark" in Japanese is "wan wan")
Someone is currently redoing it. Play it in Japanese if you can though.
I'm playing Tri Force Heroes right now which apparently was inspired by this game

Yes. It improves upon and eventually surpasses ALTTP in every aspect, effectively making the earlier game redundant.

Yeah...I kinda wish I had friends though. Not like full time friends or anything, just ones to play a coop game with.
Does this even have combat in it?
There's a section where you take a cannon and shoot pirates

Centy barely plays like ALttP. Almost plays like Secret of Mana combined with a Zelda.
ALTTP killer

Literally just The Goonies.
Has this ever had a translation released
Sure does, bro https://www.romhacking.net/translations/2558/
