have a nice day shitlennial, your generation is unironically the most trooned out
we are winning in popularity in the internet. too bad you lost the internet war
Gen Z will never be able to shit talk any older generation and have it taken seriously. You're a bunch of neurotic manchildren who proudly wear your countless phobias and mental illnesses as a badge of honour.
God it's so shit. It only takes a couple of minutes of listening to the voices in Masters to see why it's a bad idea to add to the games. Modern voice acting in gaming is a joke.
ANY Nintendo voice acting is bad, it's always been bad except for bing bing wahoo except now that's bad too because the nonbinary POC they got to do Mario's new voice sounds like he's being strangled and gagged.
>the nonbinary POC they got to do Mario's new voice
Given that his name is Kevin Afghani it's considerably less likely that he's into that LGBT stuff than it was when Mario was voiced by a white american
I laughed about this, because when Pokemon Generations was being released, I remember people complaining about the dialogue despite they were just saying the game text.
I want voice acting if it's high quality. But it never would be. And it's not even a gamefreak thing. Breath of the Wild's dogshit voice acting convinced me that Nintendo in general can't pull it off. And it's not like I've ever played a game that had anything better than "acceptable" voice acting to begin with. I can't think of any other game in which I feel I'd be missing out if the voice-acting was cut for just plain dialogue text.
And Pokemon's an entirely different monster of shit voice acting because they have their own personal league of Z-Listers over at TPCi, it's not even a matter of getting stuck with the same few commons that infest every single piece of Japanese media.
>I can't think of any other game in which I feel I'd be missing out if the voice-acting was cut for just plain dialogue text.
Kingdom Hearts 1, Xenoblade 1 and 3, Armored Core 6, Star Fox 64, Final Fantasy XIV, Kid Icarus Uprising, the Bayonetta series, the Deus Ex series, and the Nier series just to name a few
I wouldn't say I want voice acting, but the way Game Freak directs their cutscenes as if they're TV episodes with the camera doing cowboy shots of characters emoting is really awkward with no voice acting. They really should take a cue from other, older games with no voice acting. Vagrant Story uses dramatic camera angles and sweeping shots combined with dynamic speech bubbles to look like an animated comic book, making the lack of voice over less jarring.
?si=1EXzL2u4A_a8bmnt
But although I'd prefer that approach, I think the most realistic thing for them to do is to just have voice acting in a made-up language like The Sims or Klonoa.
?si=CoygmAGNuX-ra8Cm&t=10
That way they wouldn't have to rush out shitty dubs in other languages or potentially alienate people that speak a language that didn't get a voice over. They already use a made-up script for sign graphics for the same reason. Klonoa benefits from the Kiki Bouba Effect by giving certain characters more pleasant or harsh phenomes in their "language" to add to their character, and I think that could help Pokemon characters stand out.
They just need to have a sound effect as the text scrolls on dialogue like how they did in the gamecube games or Undertale if they wanted different sound effects to be linked to characters.
The games have never had voice acting. Where are these newbies who've never played a Pokémon game before coming from suddenly acting like it's weird for a game to not have voice acting?
Don't cut my quote off half way you stupid prick.
To the extent that new pokemon games do, it is.
This isn't some SNES game with a jabbering sprite in the corner.
That is lip synced singing with direction paced to the vocals, but without any of the actual voice acting present.
It is variably confusing, uncanny, or annoying to experience as we're forced to watch these awkward mute films that seem unaware they don't have any attached audio.
Yes but only if it's Japanese, everything else will sound like shit. And have an option to turn off voices and have a slider bar for volume customization. But we really need more complete games with more features before improving audio or visuals.
These homosexuals never watched the anime post 4kids switch. Ash never stopped sounding like a chain smoker and she voiced him for literally half her lifetime since she was 18. It's probably like the same homosexuals that want a Pokémon MMO but don't even understand how the game works and really just want to play the Ash anime.
The only reason I want it is because Gamefreak insists on having characters sing in long cutscenes. Those moments rip you out of the game and are awkward as frick.
Unless you hire an actual talented singer it's going to be handwaved anyways. Like when it just cuts to the audience saying that was a wonderful song in anime or games.
A large number of japanese voice actors sing as well, so I don't think that would be a big problem or anything. Ideally, I would want Pokemon to have voice acting in the vain of Zelda, where only a few scenes are fully voiced.
Not really, Voice Acting in general is overrated as frick for video games and has been a blight on the Vidya industry as a while, especially since it invited in the "VIDYA IS JUST LIKE MOVIES" attitudes that end up giving games with objectively terrible direction in their development prizes about how good direction they have because VAs and Mo-Cap actors didn't do a sub-par job for once. Actual cancer that only benefits lazy morons who either can't read or won't read and people who want changes just for the sake of having change in stead of those changes being something that actually provides something of value.
>fully 3D models with animations (not super detailed admittedly but they are) >mouths move as they speak >one character even sang a song too
Whether or not you want voice acting, you gotta admit it's awkward that it isn't there.
This, it's fricking jarring. Even the Mario rpg remake was guilty of that. It just makes it look like the game is bugging out and not playing the voices properly, when in reality there was no voice to play to begin with.
It's weird because it feels like every cutscene could do without the 90% opacity black bars and boxless subtitles. They level up the animation quality with no real payoff.
Other than the rando you'll reply me with, japanese VAs aren't trannies.
Yes but only if it's Japanese, everything else will sound like shit. And have an option to turn off voices and have a slider bar for volume customization. But we really need more complete games with more features before improving audio or visuals.

they will never be japanese
How about you work on your reading comprehension before pondering on other's opinions on japan?
What kind of RPG doesn't have voice acting nowadays?
I don't care if it's low budget like Fallout 3 where there were like ten voice actors total, just something to make the story a little more engaging
But of course autists hate the idea of voice acting because it's different to how it's always been done, even if it'd be much better.
While you're at it how about we replace the god awful generic monster noises with the pokemon saying their name
voice acting means dubs and dubs mean possesive twittergays polluting the discussion way more than it already is.

You don't need to be a weeb to know that voice acting will be shit in other languages. The japs at least put forth an okay effort.
And you never addressed my other main point. Which was that the game needs way more features before we should address things like voice acting or even visuals. The games are severely lacking end game content. Raids are boring and shiny hunting isn't for everyone.
>and made everyone British
Would not be a problem if they cast an actual british person for it, and it's also been the problem with the Galar VAs for Masters
>Would not be a problem if they cast an actual british person for it
Xenoblade disproved that meme, Bri'ish voice acting is just as shit as amerimutts. Westerners are simply not up to the task.
I don't want it because TCPi's main office is in London so they would all be bongs and you just know GF wouldn't give you the option to use a different voice language to the text language or even have the option to completely mute voices.
I think they should just have a little sound for each scrolling letter like how Earthbound and Final Fantasy Tactics do it, full on silence is a bit jarring.

I'm French and I don't want voice acting because Japanese companies have this annoying habit of only dubbing their games into English and no other languages.
Which is weird because Western games ALWAYS have French voice acting (with the exception of Rockstar games, frick this company).
If I'm forced to listen to Japanese, or worse, American language while playing, I'll stop buying the games
It doesn't really add much of value to the experience of playing while driving up development costs. Frankly it might just make things worse since it would further bring attention to the protagonist being a silent self-insert. It's fine as an occasional novelty like having music with lyrics (Roxie's band performance, and goddamn it's just sad that Piers' performance didn't have any), but it's not something I actively desire for Pokemon, or any video game for that matter.

FPBP there is no good voice acting outside of big budget feature films.
Only people who use Twitter want voice acting.
The rest of the world wants twittards skinned alive, doused in gasoline, set on fire and head chopped off with an axe
And yet most of them still use it.
No sane person wants some British frick that has never done VA work to voice shit in pokemon
>Unironically wanting to listen to THIS over and over
Didn't people already learn their lesson after Zelda?
Sex with Japanese school girls.

miss beans was freaky looking enough in rango, whoever genned that should be ashamed of themselves
This is exactly what a Japanese person hears when your heavily marketed Japanese VA does the same noises.
Other than the rando you'll reply me with, japanese VAs aren't trannies.
>troony troony troony EVERYWHERE
obsessed, you will never breed
Now imagine the whole board becomes that.
That's what will happen if they add voice acting.

Japan does not even allow gay marriages or civil unions, homosexuals are treated like clowns in Japanese media

did they choose a low profile vtuber for dubbing her? sounds awful

kinda the point honestly name of the chuuba please?
Where is the issue?
Zelda doesn't even have full voice acting, I was thinking Pokemon ought to do the cadences like the npcs do.
ANY Nintendo voice acting is bad, it's always been bad except for bing bing wahoo except now that's bad too because the nonbinary POC they got to do Mario's new voice sounds like he's being strangled and gagged.

Brainrot.
I only lasted 38 seconds before stopping. Voice acting for cinematic cutscenes only
We all know it would be awful so no not really. The only people who want it are those who still believe gf knows how to do anything well
The dialogues are so trash I definitely do not want to hear them being voice acted.
I laughed about this, because when Pokemon Generations was being released, I remember people complaining about the dialogue despite they were just saying the game text.
Courtney's "I want analyse you" is good example.
I just want meaningless simlish babble
that is unironically their language, they speak a language similar to simlish
I want voice acting if it's high quality. But it never would be. And it's not even a gamefreak thing. warcraft
Silent Hill would be nothing without its wacky dialogue.
And Pokemon's an entirely different monster of shit voice acting because they have their own personal league of Z-Listers over at TPCi, it's not even a matter of getting stuck with the same few commons that infest every single piece of Japanese media.
to be fair they got bocchi's Va for the anime

Kingdom Hearts 1, Xenoblade 1 and 3, Armored Core 6, Star Fox 64, Final Fantasy XIV, Kid Icarus Uprising, the Bayonetta series, the Deus Ex series, and the Nier series just to name a few
From Soft games as well. Hell, all FF from XII to XVI.

Pokebabies really want to pretend they're not the laughingstock of the generation
The pokemon fanbase is already low IQ enough as it is. The last thing we need is to lower it further.

I wouldn't mind voice acting but also like TPCi is not good at dubbing
Me too
They just need to have a sound effect as the text scrolls on dialogue like how they did in the gamecube games or Undertale if they wanted different sound effects to be linked to characters.
Youre not alone, mon ami. voice acting is always cringe shit on the switch, look at any jrpg with japanese "humor"
No
The games have never had voice acting. Where are these newbies who've never played a Pokémon game before coming from suddenly acting like it's weird for a game to not have voice acting?
It's basically just newer people that want Pokemon to be exactly like every other RPG.
It is weird for a game to pantomime voice acting and dialog as much as Pokemon does and not have any.
Look how awkward this is.

no it isn't

I don't really care either way, but if the games keep pretending that they have voice acting, then you may as well add voice acting at that point.
Does do something similar to the talking flower
>Heeey!

No I don’t.
Those times are a minority and I always remember its better this way.
>you gotta admit it's awkward that it isn't there.
I don't because it isn't.
I feel like if it DID have voice acting, Max Mittelman would do well as Arven
I want voice acting just for the actual cutscenes because they feel incredibly off without it, leave it out of general gameplay.
Isn't that usually how it works in most games that have voice acting?
Sounds about right yet Pokemon can't even hit that low bar with the few cutscenes it has.
I would rather have less cutscenes.
>well *I specifically* do not want voice acting
oh boy do I have the solution for you!
You know GF wouldn't do that.
Mainly because they couldn't fit it in after wasting all that space on audio files.
Yes lets ask for the devs to waste time and budget for a feature I won’t use
fricking moron
No I rather not be it either. Only exception I'd make is to scenes with music in it

But pokemon are animals.
They don't say their names.
Pikachu and Eevee said their name for a time so why not
it got reconned starting in Legends, pikachu use his old cry and eevee's cry was reverted to his gen 6 cry

Yes
Usually wouldn’t care but my waifu got a good VA in masters so I’d be cool with it
Honestly, I think people want voice acting because they don't want to read the game text.

True, most 5 year olds are pretty poor readers
