you're moronic
It's a lot harder than the casualized PS Mega Man games
It's definitely the hardest classic MM game and the lack of checkpoints in the King stages is pretty lame. Playing as Bass + being smart with your part upgrades and special weapons makes it a lot more manageable but it's still a rough time
>make a new Mega Man game for younger gamers still stuck on aging hardware using assets from their newer game
>make it hard as frick and overall punishing
I feel like they didn't think this through.
Also why does Capcom act like this game doesn't exist, it's been left out of every MM collection released so far.
Probably because it's so fricking hard and they don't want to bother backporting the GBA translation to the SNES version. Still bullshit, and I'll never stop being mad it wasn't in Legacy Collection 2.
This game has never been re-released aside from the GBA port. Not in any of the collections, not even on the Japanese Virtual Console/PSN/XBLA. And yet it's still considered a mainline entry
Well yeah anon I know that, I was just saying it bugs me that they won't rerelease it.
Yeah I know that you know, I'm saying that I'm surprised too
It doesn't need a re-release.
I fricking hate zooms so much.
Frick off anon, the original release was Japan exclusive and the GBA port suffers from terrible screen crunch that makes an already difficult game even harder. Both of which were missed by most of the fanbase and go for shitloads on the secondary market
>B-but muh emoolashon
Don't give a shit, a full rerelease like the Legacy Collections hurts no one and makes the games more accessible to new fans.
>and makes the games more accessible to new fans.
Just like the internet, it doesn't need to be more accesible or need new fans. Did we not learn anything from the flood of newbies caused by smartphones?
Shut the frick up, you dumb pretentious b***h. It's a goddamn Mega Man game.
God I hate zoomers
I'm 33 and probably older than you, dipshit.
>le 30yo zoomer
many such cases
Cry more b***h.
Not that anon, but why are you so vehemently opposed to a re-release?
MMB is hard enough to gatekeep itself
>the original release was Japan exclusive
So import it like everyone else, you spastic triggered zooming homosexual.
I'm thirty anon, not everyone who's sick of your moronic shit is a zoomer. What part of
>goes for shitloads on the secondary market
do you not understand? Why are you such a vapid frick that the idea of out of print software being made readily available again triggers you so badly?
>goes for shitloads on the secondary market
Yeah welcome to the current year you triggered spazz. That's every game these days. Med yourself and log off.
So you have no actual reason as to why it shouldn't be re-released, you're just looking to argue for no reason. Again anon, why are you like this?
Honestly I wouldn't mind just a collection with it and the Rockman World games.
>looking to argue for no reason
You're the one who raged at me kid. Go back and read your comments. See how hostile you came at me?
Now apologize.
I recall the Super Famicom version has been rereleased on one of those cheap prebuilt PnP consoles, but as-is.
They should do that and make a Legacy Collection 3 with it in it, Mega Man Battle & Chase (ideally with the Japanese cut content restored), the Game Boy games (possibly with colorization added), the two Xtreme games, the two arcade games (disregarding that they're in the Capcom Arcade second collection), some of the other spinoff Mega Man games likw the PlayStation first-person one and Rockboard (NES and if possible prototype GB), and the Battle Network games that didn't make it into the new collection, such as 4.5, WonderSwan Color one, Battle Chip Challenge, and Network Transmission. Also the worse version of X3 on PlayStation just for kicks.
Dont forget the Mega&Bass sequel on the wonderswan, the neogeo pocket version of power fighters, the chink tactics game and MegaMan X Street Fighter.
4.5 is finicky because a good chunk of the enjoyment comes from getting the Battle Chip Gate In and real Battle Chips and use them in combat. It is called Real Operation after all and unless you use the real BN gameplay patch, 4.5 lives or dies by his gimmick, and we know Capcom would never use a fan patch or modify the game themselves to make it more akin to other BN games.
>the PlayStation first-person one
huh?
I don't remember it being notably difficult, but it's been 20 years since I played it.
You don't remember it being difficult because you don't remember the motherfricking monkey. Frick that fricking frick.
It's not you, this game is absolutely brutal in places.
It's one of the hardest non-shovelware platformers that's for sure
Just need a little practice. Megaman games are all painfully easy and short.
OP, you are having trouble with each part? Post here so I can try to help.
This. Once you know the best strategies and the items/weapons to use, it becomes easy. You can go the hardest route, but it's optional.
>having trouble with each part?
I've already beat the game that's why i came here to complain about it but thanks anyway
That also happened to me. The first time I beat the game, it was almost a Pyrrhic victory. After a few times, I learned the ins and outs of the game and find it easy now. It's a matter of practice.
It's probably the hardest Megaman.
Yes, it's a very hard Mega Man game. They got rid of the E-Tanks that had been so important since Mega Man 2, and didn't really put anything in their place.
Some of the boss fights like Burner Man can be really harsh too.
It's also as though they designed an upgrade system, but decided at the last minute to only allow you to equip one upgrade at a time.
There's a ROM hack that allows you to equip multiple things at once, and the game feels a lot more balanced as a result.
https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/4481/
For example, Bass no longer has to choose between increasing buster damage, or allowing buster shots to pass through walls.
Casually, I'd recommend using this patch. There's no justifiable reason to not be able to equip a "climb ladders faster" upgrade with other important upgrades.
There's also a hack that lets you switch characters on the fly, though it drastically changes the game as a result.
https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/4480/
These patches are compatible with each other, and the Aeon Genesis fan-translation.
It's a hard game for sure, but it's not impossible and most morons exaggerate it's difficulty. Just like any other Mega Man game, it gets easier as you figure out weaknesses and recognize patterns. It's a nice challenge. If you're good at Mega Man X or Mega Man Zero then you'll be fine with this.
Make sure you play the SNES version. The GBA port has shitty controls and a smaller field of view. Also understand that if you're playing on an emulator you're probably experiencing input lag (even with run-ahead). For the best experience play either on real hardware with a CRT (Best) or on a modern TV with a high refresh rate using a RetroTink 5x.
All of that being said, this is my favorite game in the classic series. I love Bass.
As a kid this was one of the first games I downloaded when my brother and I found out about SNES emulation around 2002 or so. I played the shit out of with a keyboard, never managed to beat anyone other than Cold Man because I was terrible at it. To this day it's still one of my favorite games in the series even with all the sometimes miserable stage design. Bass is just really damn fun to play, the sprite work is gorgeous, and it has a great soundtrack.
You absolutely NEED to utilize special weapons to get through the stages, meaning the opening of the game is the hardest part.
bass makes the levels easy mode
megaman has easier bosses
9 and 10 (full game on normal, but especially on higher difficulties) and 7 (just the Wily Capsule and nothing else) are tougher. &Bass has it's moments like
>Burner Man
>King Jet
but they were very kind my last playthrough, so I'm not sure if I got lucky or got good enough to handle them.
You really can't compare this game to 9 and 10. While those games are pretty hard they still let you farm E-tank and upgrades early. You don't have that kind of luxury in MM&Bass The game literally force you to git gud in order finish it.
Significantly harder if you're playing as mega man, bass players have no excuse and should be laughed at if they complain
honestly people say it's harder with mega man but i thought it was easier, granted that was after i learned the levels but he does a lot more damage to bosses
burner man's stage can suck a chode though
fun game
