It's not just dislike. The root problem is that there's no financial feedback mechanism for DC or Marvel anymore; they're subsidized by WB and Disney, respectively, as IP farms, because the comics themselves are incidental. Without a need to rely on people actually buying the comics, they've degenerated into their modern day garbage form. That's why selling 30,000 copies of an issue can be treated like a huge thing, even if it's pitiful next to a mid manga, because the publishers and their creators only need to "sell well" relative to their own dire industry standards. It's basically corporate socialism for a small group of hobbyists. If DC and Marvel actually had to pay their own way, then they'd look VERY different.
Dark Horse Comics is the same to a lesser extent. A while back, they had to publicly defend some of the manga they published because, despite being a niche amount of titles that featured regressive content, it brought in like 80% of their income, subsidizing their Western titles.

The sales arent that high, especially for something with an anime adaptations. They called us enemy is 3 years old and never sold much. So it being that high up just shows how abyssmally graphic novel sales are. The only on that list that sold decent is Lore Olympus vol 1, which came out in 2021 and is still on that list kek.

Metroid Dread is one of the top selling Metroid games despite there being no good Metroid game to raise hype for it since 2007's Metroid Prime 3. I would usually say I'm waiting for the day the American comic industry finally collpases and all these writers starve in the street but I know they are either nepobabbies or living a good life off endless grievance politics.
So I guess anger really leads to apathy.
At this point, I think the best course of action would be to make an American version of Shonen Jump. Series that don't make the cut for popularity get axed. Release weekly, or biweekly prints that have multiple comics in one, and then release full volumes for individual comics when they get enough chapters to fill out a 200-ish page volume. That's the only way for the comics industry to recover at this point because the parasites are so deeply embedded within DC/Marvel that they're irremovable.

In Japan, editors have total control over the title. Sometimes they run series into the ground. But mostly it's like "people like this character so use him more". They make decisions based on sales and character popularity votes.

So qrd: The hand make Frank the avatar/infused with the God of Death because that's what he is I guess. He initially refuses but their witchwoman says the God Of Death has many gifts and he can bring people back to life, including his wife sans some of her memories. Theyre working on getting his kids back to life, but theyve been dead for so long with such little samples everytime they come back, theyre hideous mutants. Think the ripley clones in Alien Resurrection. Frank has the Hand round up murderers, rapists, child abusers and executes them on his island. His wife gets her memories back and they do a character assassination of Frank, she claims he was a monster and not a great dad/husband and that she was planning to divorce him after the picnic where her and the kids got killed. Frank kills Ares who "always considered Frank a son". This draws the attention of the Avengers who think Frank is possessed (he is, kinda). They beat frank up and lock him up. While deciding what to do with him, his wife and BW sell all of Franks assets. She takes half the money as "alimony", divorces him, then donates his half of the money to charity and tells him to stop killing people in her and his kids names and that charity donation is a better way to honor their kids. She still keeps her half though, and is pregnant. The Avengers decide prolly better to just kill Frank. Frank uses the last of the power he has to teleport himself to Elsewhere. He finds orphans and protects them.

That's why selling 30,000 copies of an issue can be treated like a huge thing, even if it's pitiful next to a mid manga, because the publishers and their creators only need to "sell well" relative to their own dire industry standards. It's basically corporate socialism for a small group of hobbyists. If DC and Marvel actually had to pay their own way, then they'd look VERY different.
Dark Horse Comics is the same to a lesser extent. A while back, they had to publicly defend some of the manga they published because, despite being a niche amount of titles that featured regressive content, it brought in like 80% of their income, subsidizing their Western titles.

At this point, I think the best course of action would be to make an American version of Shonen Jump. Series that don't make the cut for popularity get axed. Release weekly, or biweekly prints that have multiple comics in one, and then release full volumes for individual comics when they get enough chapters to fill out a 200-ish page volume. That's the only way for the comics industry to recover at this point because the parasites are so deeply embedded within DC/Marvel that they're irremovable.

She takes half the money as "alimony", divorces him, then donates his half of the money to charity and tells him to stop killing people in her and his kids names and that charity donation is a better way to honor their kids. She still keeps her half though, and is pregnant. The Avengers decide prolly better to just kill Frank. Frank uses the last of the power he has to teleport himself to Elsewhere. He finds orphans and protects them.
