it was very small and didnt develop as i played
they hyped up interactivity but there are barely any iteractive elements and most of those are not useful
really liked it despite it being so short, never expected such engaging gameplay from frictional. great atmosphere, interesting story (that wasn't forced on you) and good gameplay
hope this is going to be used as a stepping stone for new and bigger projects, i really didn't expect much after the turd the was rebirth
It's a great little proof of concept. All meat and no fat, which is refreshing tjese days. I hope they expand on it. Worth the 20 bucks I spent on it, since I've beaten it three times. I'll beat it least one kore time once shell shock mode drops.
Sometimes fat is good though. Imagine eating Popeyes chicken and there's no skin, just meat. It's still good, sure, but the skin is sometimes the best part.
Frictional finally made a good horror game again.
I think the last good game they made was Dark Decent and no I SOMA was lame. it was hardly even a video game just a walking sim like Rebirth.
Bunker is not only scary but really well made as well. I fricking love that you can go almost anywhere and the game encourages smart thinking. and creativity. it's bordering on being an immersive sim now.
It gives me hope for future Frictional titles. and I can't wait to see what they do next.
>I fricking love that you can go almost anywhere and the game encourages smart thinking
examples?
i played the demo and a hint even says it encourages multiple ways to solve puzzles, how much of that is true?
There aren't really any "gamey" puzzles in bunker, its more about figuring out and adapting to obstacles/situations that you encounter, and there is usually lots of different options for you.
It's also slightly randomized each time with what items you find, which doors are locked, where traps are ecetera. The game encourages you to experiment
It's very true.
the arsenal for example is filled with boxes and traps blocking the path making it so you have to navigate through the path to make it to the other side.
But one way to break it, is to to lure the Beast into the arsenal and if he thinks you are are on the other side of the arsenal he'll break every single box and items blocking your path making the path from the dynamite room to the exit clear and easy.
Or if you don't want to use the Beast and are willing to use up some grenades you can just blow up the boxes blocking your path and make it through without worrying about the traps.
I loved it, can't wait for shellshocked mode, I hope they go crazy with it, because once you learn how the monster acts and get used to the map it gets too easy.

Scary and atmospheric but too short. Didn't really recapture the feeling of Dark Descent as much as I would have liked and didn't really have as many direct ties to the Amnesia lore as I was expecting.
It had more ties to Amnesia than I'd expected, honestly. It reprised the tainted water plot from Rebirth as well as The Shadow from Dark Descent which you can even see if you fall in the pit at the end.
You're basically just trapped in a pitch dark shithole with a hyper-harvester for a couple hours, which is a cool premise.
The Shadow was in The Bunker? I remember falling into the pit and it making that classic sound from Dark Decent but I didn't know that was related to the Shadow.
Yeah, that's The Shadow lurking down there, and it's also the reason why some of the notes mention noises from below even before the beast shows up.
It even gives you the classic "Watch your step!" loading tip.
I was chilling and taking it very slow up until I got the valve to free the lockdown, I went to the prison and the thing went berserker mode, almost didn't made it out and then when I got up to the corridor leading into the admin room the fricker crawled out of a hole in front of me and murdered me.
Still have no fricking idea what to do now but I am very spooked. Very good.
I really hope Frictional take all the positive feedback from this game and try to make more games like it, this game was originally going to be a DLC for rebirth, which is why its so scaled down compared to their usual.
Their next game is a sci-fi, and iirc it's only horror themed. But I hope they either expand on bunker with a directors cut mode, or a new game that uses the bunker mechanics but on a bigger scale
>this game was originally going to be a DLC for rebirth, which is why its so scaled down compared to their usual.
Really now? I never knew that.
That's pretty funny if that's the case that the "DLC" ends up a million times better than the main game.
I think Frictional got the picture that people didn't like Rebirth so I think they are getting the picture of what people like about these games and Bunker really shines on what Frictional is good at. Horror, pacing and strong interactive gameplay.
I'm surprised they never figured out that getting stalked by a monster was the thing most people enjoy about their games. The scariest parts of SOMA are usually just that.
So remind me again. why did he turn into a monster? I know Vitae is the reason but I thought Vitae makes you immortal?
Why did it turn Lambert into a giant mole man monster?
I think the main theory is it's the same liquid that the empress used to turn the crew in Rebirth into ghouls. My headcannon reason as to why he's so huge compared to Rebirth ghouls is because he had so much prey trapped in with him to get beefed up on
I only just learned you can smash locks and doors with bricks, well after completing the game
I only used barrels and nades, god damn I feel moronic now
Bros this is hard as frick, I can't outrun it, when I hide it always sniffs me out. I only made it out alive once because I threw a grenade at it and circled it around. Never played this type of game before and this shit is brutal.
Too short
true. what's there was very good however, it helped that i played on hard
it was very small and didnt develop as i played
they hyped up interactivity but there are barely any iteractive elements and most of those are not useful
>didnt develop as i played
What were you expecting? You're stuck in a bunker, you need to get the hell out. They never marketed it as anything more.
i was expecting a videogame
>they hyped up interactivity but there are barely any iteractive elements
homie how can you play the game and say this
took you long enough, too much time being a charming ol lad now what did you reckon pal?
really liked it despite it being so short, never expected such engaging gameplay from frictional. great atmosphere, interesting story (that wasn't forced on you) and good gameplay

I'm bored of invincible enemies that stalk you.
i dunno you're the one who finished it

what is the missing skin you want in the bunker?
>Imagine eating Popeyes chicken
no thanks
also skin isn't fat, what are you even saying
Nevermind I am stupid!!
at what point does he remember he's in a bunker
hated rebirth, this was great and reminded me of penumbra
>recharge your flashlight every 15 seconds
Uninstalled this piece of shit """game""" after finding a generator that works for 10 minutes on full tank.
>love TDD
>love soma
>hate rebirth
are bunker or machine for pigs worth playing
MfP is garbage, bunker is worth getting on sale
bunker is great and a complete 180 from rebirth. amfp is weak (better than rebirth) and not even made by the same people

Yeah, picking up the valve is basically the end of the tutorial. Enjoy, you've got the best part of the game ahead of you.

In the ruins if we equip the gas mask before we enter its fog do we still see hallucinations or that negates it?
Nope, it's just for gas.
I didn't notice any with the mask on but that could be just because it limits your vision so much when worn
So remind me again. why did he turn into a monster? I know Vitae is the reason but I thought Vitae makes you immortal?
Why did it turn Lambert into a giant mole man monster?
He didn't consume any vitae, he chugged the harvester water which is how the Otherworld produces harvesters.
It's a plot thread from Rebirth.

needed permadeath
Would've been frustrating as frick. Hope its a part of shellshocked mode though. Or you only get 1 save per lantern
nah, ink like RE would've been better
per lantern? aren't there only 2 total?
Yeah, or maybe just 1 save for the whole game. I hope they make it brutal
I only just learned you can smash locks and doors with bricks, well after completing the game
