Had a family member that actually believed this for the longest time. His logic was Driver 1 and 2 were the first games and they renamed the series to GTA for the third because it was more than just driving.
i still remember how my aunt was encouraging her 8 year old kid to smash the pedestrians in this game, such a bizarre memory, at the same time as tv was painting the parents being outraged at this game.
Given that controversy was drummed up as a marketing push they sure got their money's worth. What was the dude spearheading the drama initially, Max something?
I only played this cause I only had acess to game 3 to 4 gens behind the current market and looking back I feel kinda glad I did. It also was a time i didnt know english , inb4: still dont know, esl, so everything was a mistery and a discovery a feeling no game can fulfill now. Maturity is a curse.
Maturity has nothing to do with it. The only reason games feel less fun as you get older is because you've played a lot more games so no game mechanics feel new to you anymore, it feels like you've already seen everything. If you were to show GTA1 or 2 to a 50 year old who's never played a video game before, they would be just as much in awe as you were at 10 years old when you played it for the first time.
yea, big part of enjoyment from games is not knowing what to expect and what's possible
kids know almost nothing about what to expect because kids are dumb and haven't seen many games in their short lives
old gamers know, not only what to expect from a game, but also, what to expect from games in years ahead, because they've been following gaming industry for decades, and the only enjoyment they get from games is either from actually good games or from nostalgia
I still can't believe that Jack Branning was actually Claude Speed. I'm struggling to fit him into the canon, did he move to the US after leaving the East End?
don't even remember if i started with 1 or 2 but as a dumb kid that wasted his money at internet cafes i used to love setting people on fire and shooting them before jumping in a fast car to get away from cops
>complete all missions for all 3 factions in one map >their bosses get buttblasted with you and personally hunt your ass with rocket launchers
holy mother of sovl...

GTA started with 3
GTA started with APB

this doesn't make sense since grand theft auto still refers to cars
>I was toddler when GTA3 came out
This is still the best gta
You need to have a nice day, now.
seethe 2D brains LOL
Wrong zoomie. If you weren’t there for the original controversy over GTA and debate in parliament you are too youg for GTA
i still remember how my aunt was encouraging her 8 year old kid to smash the pedestrians in this game, such a bizarre memory, at the same time as tv was painting the parents being outraged at this game.
I got my mother to go with me to Electronics Boutique to buy the original GTA and the guy tried to convince her not to get it for me.
what a b***h

Max Clifford. I just looked at his wikipedia page and had completely forgotten that he died in prison.
>debate in parliament
is that some kind of seafood?
SOUL MAKING
MONEY MAKING

(this is the unofficial theme song of GTA VI)
an all time classic

Easily the best GTA game. Cinematic storytelling was a mistake.
bro your live action intro?
nice

>literal who
He's in EastEnders m8. He'd bash your fricking head in
Recently finding out Mick Carter was Love Fist's manager blew my mind too.
>JESUS SAVES!
I remember trying to do my best impersonation of KIIIIIILLL FRENZY! in middle school and everyone thought I was gonna shoot up the place lmao
2 was a solid GTA game
What is the best version of that game? Dreamcast or PC?
PS1 doesn't have futuristic shit
PC just because you can change from day to night before you start if you want
GTA2 is underrated as hell.
Single player wasn't particularly amazing, but the multiplayer was a lot of fun with friends and custom maps.
>Taxi drivers must die!
I actually started with GTA1 on the og PlayStation. Ask me anything.
Was it fun?
yes for the time
i played the demo of it with the time limit shit over and over that i got on a cd with pcgamer on pc.
Yes I played that demo as well on my uncles PS1. The first GTA I got myself was GTA2
Me too. Did you actually clear stages through missions or did you just use rampages. like every other kid including myself
Do you still have the maps? I do with my copies.
Honestly GTA2 was a really fricking cool game at the time. R* and T2 are just afraid to death to alienate their audience.
don't even remember if i started with 1 or 2 but as a dumb kid that wasted his money at internet cafes i used to love setting people on fire and shooting them before jumping in a fast car to get away from cops

holy mother of sovl...
it all went downhill from there
downhill started with gta2, it felt like a joke, everything was so rounded and sterile, nothing like the raw og gta
I loved this game, I don't know why there aren't any indie clones of it nowadays
turns out that making games in the past required a lot of effort and dedication and technical progress cannot substitute for that.
KILL FRENZY
nothing will top the first three minutes of this
