Steam input does more than basic controller compatibility. It allows you to rebind literally anything on the controller and add additional functionality that can trigger on button hold, double press, button cord combos, etc. It can output keyboard, mouse or xinput inputs on a per button basis, and set action layers that completely swap controller functionality. It can map analogs as mouse output or flickstick or as a dpad for wasd with modifiers that trigger after whatever percentage of actuation. It can do the same for gyro, having it either simulate mouse input or analog. There are even more options on the deck where you have capacitive touch that can control anything like whether gyro is active or not and the trackpads can be setup to do anything, including being mapped to very specific parts of the screen. The possibilities are endless and it enables you to play literally anything comfortably on a controller.
You can also do that in WOJ, its no revolutionary new tech to map buttons

While you're talking about 'banning', take it from a Steam-listed dev that the people who verify your submissions don't actually operate from a solid philosophy or procedure or anything. Couple of my games, I've made the first submission, they've come back with changes they want me to do because I haven't included enough info in the steam page or whatever, I've literally copied and pasted then rewritten the first 200 words of the store page, and it's been accepted just fine. Then, one of my other games, I submitted with very, very little description at all (no trailer, four screenshots) and it just went straight through. Nevermind the 'banning', the people who just verify stuff for Steam are, unfortunately, just PEOPLE. They're as inept as your general customer service rep at whatever company you can think of.
