I used to shit on 2 for its drawn out opening chapters, but playing 3 makes it feel downright tolerable >walk 5 meters forward >fifteen minute cutscene >walk another 5 meters forward >twenty minute cutscene >finally gameplay >tutorial makes you equip multiple bits of bullshit on all six characters (just in case you didn't you get it with the first) >now do it again >finally, I get to move >another fifteen minute cutscene
what the actual frick were they thinking?
The big issue is that they don't have those voice H2Hs anymore because they wanted a lot of that characterization to be in the actual main story. The issue is that they chose to sprinkle it more evenly through the main story path rather than have large chunks of cutscenes play at a time.
Not even sure what the right approach would have been
They should have realized that trying to do that Camp shit from Torna again wasn't going to be well received, it was already a major complaint. The right approach should have been keeping character interaction on the level of 2, because most of the interactions in 3 are superfulous garbage. Almost nothing in 3 felt like it actually mattered to understanding the characters. You get 3 scenes where you feel like your understanding of them has changed and they all happen within an hour of each other until the mid point of the game and the characters stop doing anything of note. Sena doesn't even get THAT, the last scene where she get a "moment" is her trying to kill herself to kill N and that was it. Nothing comes of it, Mio and her don't get any dialog, it's just dropped. 3 is full of this shit and it's frustrating, it could have been great, but every character interaction moment seems truncated to hell and back and obviously would have benefited from H2Hs where 2 or more characters could have talked about major events that happened in the story and how they felt about it. Instead almost every dialog feels generic and either centers on Noah, Mobius or the groups lack of understanding of life.
I have no fricking idea and it doesn't let up either. They constantly have start and stops through the WHOLE game. Where 2 has good parts through the middle of most chapters where you can go at least an hour before getting to your next cutscene. Like Chapter 3, Uraya, you have the cutscene at the start, you'll get cutscene when meeting Vandham, then you have the scenes in Garfont, blah blah blah. You'll leave, meet Zeke and then you have NO cutscenes for pretty much the entire walk from Garfont to Fonsa Myma. Completely free to explore. 3's areas are also small as fricking shit. Getting from one place to the next takes practically no time, barely any hidden crevices either. It's crazy how little fun I had exploring in 3 compared to 1 and 2. I blame everything on Kojima.
3 was just a joke from start to finish, and I find it baffling that so many people think it’s intelligent for its skin deep themes. Felt like someone got Kojima at his worst to make a JRPG.
How in the FRICK is that game so lesser to XBC1? Not even about Drivers/Blades nonsense, just overall differences. It's like totally different devs made it or something.

Is every Xenoblade game plagued to become "lmao funny dub"? You shouldn't even be playing it with anything other than the JP dub
Really, only the first one had a great dub. People just didn't like it because BONGS.
there's no reason to play the first game in English
