>anime game
>it's a 3d arena brawler
Why does this always happen? Has it ever actually worked? The gameplay formula just seems to suck in my eyes.

Because CyberConnect2 develops all the big shounen games and they always make arena brawlers, except for JoJo All-star Battles
Okay, but how do we get non-arena brawler anime games again?
You blow up CC2 HQ
Reminds me of that time people wanted to blow up Bandai Namco HQ
KLK IF is the best one of those unless you count Pokken Tournament.
CC2 dying wouldn't stop Bamco from contracting studios to make the laziest arena fighters on the market, in fact CC2's insane in-engine animation team is the only redeeming part of the ones they do make. Ones not made by them are just as shallow but also end up looking worse while having less content.
Congrats now everything is soulless musou Koei cashgrab is this what you wanted?
Yes.
>no understanding of the industry: the thread
You don't. People buy these games because they want to see their favorite Shonen characters fight 400 guys. They're cheap to make (after licensing) and no matter how shit you think they are they sell tons to the target audience (Japaners 12-year-old boys).
>but Fighter Z!
Dragon Ball has a long history of fighting games and put everything out could into looking great.
>but Super Robot Wars!
A legacy franchise that is also a massive crossover of shows that are not fricking airing right now.
CyberConnect2 legitimately doesn't give a shit about the shonen titles they make because in the end it's nothing more than money for their pet furry project, Fuga.
It's why Fuga budget was fricking ridiculous with million(s) spent on it and yet it looks like some mobile game back in the mid-2010s.
>exploit fairweather weebs with cookie-cutter tie-ins for flavor of the month anime to make easy money
>put the profits into their passion projects, regardless of its profitability
Utterly fricking based, especially for being kemonochads.
>CyberConnect2 legitimately doesn't give a shit about the shonen titles they make because in the end it's nothing more than money for their pet furry project, Fuga.
Good, frick normie "weebs"
How do you spend millions on a project yet keep it looking like a mobile game?
season 4 when ?
Depends on what you mean by actually works. Anime games sells mainly due to characters. To the target audience, as long as they can play as their favourite character and the gameplay is servicable then it's a game worth playing.
It simply doesn't really make for fun games in my opinion. After you play to watch the visuals, it's kind of "over" so to say. There's some exceptions, but not many.
In production.
It works for their intended audience, and that's all that matters for them.
Their thinking process is probably to use the games as a marketing piece for as long as you can, and when you no longer can support it just shut it down. Funny thing is that it works. Fans of the manga will enjoy it and newcomers will probably get into a series or two after seeing a character they like kicking ass.
It's also fun to some extent. Remember when you argued with your friends about which character will win in a fight? Will, now you can do it in the game.
Sounds like something that doesn't belong to vidya. Why pester video games with such a shitty concept? It's just like these capeshit fans raiding this hobby and turning everything into an open world story driven clusterfrick
Are you talking about their business model or playing as your favourite character part?
Business model. I can perfectly get behind the favorite character thing, i love these animes myself. I'm a huge Jujutsu Kaisen fan. But i'm not dumb enough to buy a gameplay concept that has been strongly defined with the Naruto games already. Either make something unique or don't bother me with it.
That's fine, you're not the target audience. People who buy these games are obviously ok with the gameplay, which is why they keep getting made.
People say that about FIFA too but those games are shit
...ok?
Don't see what the issue is. If the intended audience is enjoying it then good for them, no skin off my teeth.
You can extend that sentiment to all sorts of garbage. Doesn't make it less garbage, still shits up the industry.
I mean, if you don't like them and think they're bad that's fine. But these anime games have an audience who like it and find it enjoyable, and that's everything a game should strive to be.
What exactly do you think these games are doing to shit up the industry? In the grand scale, anime battle arena games aren't even relevant.
These anime games do exactly what they set out to do and that is decently portraying the anime they are about. It's ironic that a lot of anons here take issue with that, considering their idea of "better" is stagnant af fighting games and they only really seethe about arena fighters because everything different from looking at two guys moving at each other in 2D space since the last 20+ years scares them and their muscle memory. I also wish these kinds of big anime games were better but that shit would be the complete opposite of an improvement.
They're further irony in the fact that anons don't even play the kind of game they're saying the devs should make.
FRICK YEEEEESSSSSS! Thanks for the news.
At least it's not a musou.
easy: they don't give a frick about you. Anime fans are easy money and will buy every shit regardless of the gameplay concept.
Video Games are already in a point where they copy themselves while the story and premise is supposed to be individual. We are fundamentally fricked. Video Games died the day their gameplay wasn't the selling point anymore.
It's one of my favorite vidya genres alongside musou games. The type of game that's so easy to pick up and play that it allows me to process my thoughts while playing. It's literally therapeutic. I buy every arena fighter and musou unless it's based on a homosexual franchise like One Punch Man or some shit.
>I buy every arena fighter and musou
Worst taste on Ganker
imagine dedicating your life to ducking evil dudes for kicks yet out of the people you actually duck one of them wasn't even a bad guy, one gets the last laugh and almost causes the fricking apocalypse as a joke, and the other doesn't even care
>duck one of them wasn't even a bad guy
excuse me?
the special
>this guy killed hundreds of people
>bone of creation killed hundreds of people
again how are those not bad guys?
sad backstory
Gunha-dono
>protagonist is a completely average normal dude
>is somehow stupidly overpowered
games for this feel?
Final Fantasy 5. Just a hobo with a chocobo.
F
There's nothing wrong with the format its just that gundam VS was the only series with a competent developer.
