Good anime are really rare but exist. Adaptations are bad 99% of the time though because they're taking one medium with all its own nuances of design and choice and then just kind of arbitrarily breaking all its bones to shove it into a new container without meaningful changes. Original anime like TTGL can be good because they're appropriately using their medium. TTGL could never be a manga, it would never evoke the same feeling. In the same sense, every Berserk adaptation is dogshit because Berserk simply cannot and will not properly translate into anime form. It is impossible by its very nature.
