I can't believe we're getting Metaphor ReFantazio next year, but still no sign of Metroid Prime 4. This game is not even a large-scale rpg and it's eternal vaporware. Are the Retro devs truly so incompetent?
>Are the Retro devs truly so incompetent?
it was given to Bandai Namco first, but their version sucked so Nintendo had retro restart it even though they were already working on Prime Remastered. Now that Prime Remastered is out and they can all focus on 4, they should give us an update soon I hope.
remember that this game's development was scrapped 4 years in and reset with Retro because whatever abomination they were doing at Bamco was not working for Nintendo
It was restarted in Jan 2019, which was still 4 and a half years ago. I refuse to believe that a Metroid Prime takes this long to make with 0 development issues. There have been no updates from Nintendo or the devs, all the while they are still hiring people because they don't have enough talent to make the game (a report was posted a few days ago showing they are *still* hiring). This is extremely telling of a troubled development cycle, and the hopes of this game looking good when it does deign to appear are pretty grim.
Did anyone expect any differently when it's known the game was announced before there was a team assembled to make it? The logo video was entirely directed at investors and nothing more, same as Bethesda's after 76.
>it was given to Bandai Namco first, but their version sucked
It was really weird how Nintendo actually put out a YouTube video to basically say this openly. It seemed so unlike them.
it was refreshing to see some transparency like that.I wish they would do that more often, but they're always like "everything is great at neentendo. prease buy our games."
At this point is it going to be designed for the Switch 2 (or whatever it'll be called)? Or support both the Switch and Switch 2?
If they decided to make this a launch title for the Switch 2 (and make it take advantage of the better hardware) there might have been a second restart internally. Which would be a bit of a shame since getting their engine working (and working pretty well at that) on the Switch already must have been a lot of work. But the Switch is probably already nearing the end of its cycle.
There is no way this doesnt ;launch on the current Switch as it would cause too much seethe if it didnt. It will probably run and look the same as the Prime remake

I have faith, it's not much but at the very least I can trust in the art design which is a pretty big deal with the prime games. Despite what the "REMASTER BAD!!11111" crowd wants you to believe, Retro did pretty damn good with the remaster's visuals/staying faithful to the art direction and no amount of screaming about "MUH BEEM LITNING" and "MUH DOORSSSSS!!!!!" will change that.
I'm a little afraid that them having to design the game around twinstick will cause the game to play more like a FPS with exploration elements rather than the other way around, an exploration game with FPS elements.
miyamoto wasn't very involved with prime, he was hands off during development. He didn't even give a frick about metroid until he saw prime mid development
Wrong. He was breathing down their necks the entire time.
>Fires the founder of the studio >cancels every game in development >tells them to work on Metroid >forced the team to change the game to a first person view against their will, which made the director almost leave the project >gave them the idea for the visor switching mechanic >threatened to cancel the game if they couldn't include the morph ball
It was the last time Miyamoto was based. The man went completely senile after that
they should have scrapped continuing with the Prime series and started some new series set all of the other games (since prime series was set in the middle of a bunch of games, like the fast and furious movies, which is always weird)
not to mention the prime story was pretty much completed. it didn't need a 4th entry
Modern Nintendo are incapable of making anything outside of Mario rehashes and ubisoft Zelda. Just cancel the game and sell the ip to a competent publisher like Capcom.
just so hard to believe that not even ONE person that works at retro uses this board and can give some sort of vague clue. it's fricking metroid, and autistic franchise, and not ONE employee is here?
Prime 1, said they hoped to do an escape sequence at the end of 1 with Samus's powers all failing but they didn't have time and he was glad in retrospect because it meant they could have the Ing steal them all in 2 as a way to set them up.
metroid prime
metroid prime turbo
metroid prime the new challengers
that's all this series felt like. never needed more than the first game. new blood gave me hope for something different but with retro back, my expectations are actually lower.
If it's exclusive to the switch 2 I'm emulating it

bandai is better than rare could ever hope to be
>rare
you mean retro?
That's why Bandai's version of MP4 was so bad it was scrapped entirely, right?

Either it's a Switch 2 launch game or Nintendo refuses to mention it until they're 100% on a exact launch date they can reveal to the public.

Well I cant imagine Namco was too happy about that public shame
They shouldn't have fricked with my metroid
We were never told who was working on it before. It being Namco is just a rumor. Probably true, but just a rumor.

Oh good so it'll work on PC too.

do you have to type like such a moron
Why do you care?
Retro was unable to release a single game the second tanabe left, he's back now with MP:R out soon after
>Are the Retro devs truly so incompetent
Yes actually. Prime 1 would have been a disaster without Shiggy keeping them in line.

Thats guys channel is kinda underrated. Surprised he doesnt have more subs with all the random interviews he's done.
Shame Pacini said he won't do Metroid interviews anymore.

Miyamoto was more involved then fricking Sakamoto who just shot down ideas he didn't approve of via email.
yes, that's why prime was so good, sakamoto lost his touch after super. tanabe was the one who was involved the most from nintendo

third game ends on a cliffhanger
did it:? man I played and beat it when it released but that has to have been like 47 years ago so I don't even remember what the ending was
Look up the 100% ending of prime 3
>Metaphor ReFantazio next year
10 years for a literal Shin Megami reskin except it's medieval europe instead of Japan.
BRAVO ATLUS
i'll only play it if nintendo makes it this time
How do you make something so badly literally everything had to be scrapped?
Isn't Bandai Namco to blame for MP4's restart?
It happens all the time.
happens very often, Dread was canned twice before the final game
Announcements without release date aren't real.
Modern Nintendo are incapable of making anything outside of Mario rehashes and ubisoft Zelda. Just cancel the game and sell the ip to a competent publisher like Capcom.
They're reworking it to be open world with crafting and vehicles
>Nintendo meeting with Namco about how Metroid Prime 4 is progressing
posted wrong one.... https://youtu.be/62H8iJxS-3Q
Does anyone even care anymore? The retro studios of today is not the same one that gave us Prime or even Tropical Freeze
there's always a slim chance they are somehow better than the old Retro Studios
Nah they'll nail it.
Nu-retro's about to make you their b***h.
If it sucks at least I'll never need another nintendo console ever again
Get used to it. It's the new state of the gaming industry
Dev hell or not, it's crazy how long games are taking to make now. Can't be sustainable
The modern industry is shitty in every way, how did it get so bad?
just so hard to believe that not even ONE person that works at retro uses this board and can give some sort of vague clue. it's fricking metroid, and autistic franchise, and not ONE employee is here?
We know there was, I don't have the link to the archives but a dev who had a unique signed copy from the staff posted here years ago
did he say anything of note
I forget, something about one of the prime games having her slowly lose her abilities through an escape sequence that got cut
Prime 1, said they hoped to do an escape sequence at the end of 1 with Samus's powers all failing but they didn't have time and he was glad in retrospect because it meant they could have the Ing steal them all in 2 as a way to set them up.

I called it not coming out the day that PNG of a trailer came out
>Announced
Teased, 90% of all teased games will be canceled
