DD:DA is already the dream game. It's a super fun and unique experience. Everyone calling it "best 7/10 game evar" or crying about how it was unfinished were all massive homosexuals who couldn't open their eyes and appreciate the game for what it was.
Itsuno's vision is promise high, release it halfassed. His entire career is defined by unfinished halfassed games that were made "complete" with addons released years after.
We loved and praised base DD as well though. The bandit ambush, the Witchwood, braving into the night only to be attacked by a chimera, the griffon quest, all of Grigori, the post-game world change and Everfall, Seneschal. Not to mention the fun combat with loads of interactions and layers to it, the training of pawns, little things like size and weight mattering. I think people are being unfair to DD1 in favor of DA which wasn't the game I fell in love with in the first place.
DLC won't save it, you have to accept this. DD1 had more going for it at the base game level than 2. A BBI type of mega area will be great but the rest of the game is still sorely lacking.

If it had scaling NG+ cycles and even a hard mode it would definitely be better. There’s no fixing the shitty main quest though.

by then we saw the sphinx, the gorgon and of course the 5 big monsters that are everywhere, 3 of them which feel like a reskin because while the movesets are different, it doesn't matter because the game is too easy and you just hit things until they die and have your mage heal you if you get hit, only the thief can actually dodge and interact with the monster's moveset and after meister skill you don't even need to do that

Game legit just needs higher difficulty options and a big endgame dungeon like BBI. Also probably revamp the vocations a little or add some more.
