>armadillo dog armor
What were they thinking ? These useless ass dogs will still die in one creeper explosion or just by falling into lava. The armor would have to be extremely overpowered to matter at all
Also why do the crabs spawn un mangrove ? Put them on the beach wtf
has anyone ever actually took their dog out of their base? i always keep them in because they will die to the first hostile mob that appears, or even just gravity
once i get a dog or a cat, i rarely take them with me, for obvious reasons, like going mining and stuff etc. iron golems are good for home defense, but an AR-15 from a gun mod is better.
they are good for regular mob fights, problem is their AI is to moronic to avoid risks along with creeper explosions, the dog armor would in theory aleviate, at the very least make your dogs look cool, but it won't solve the core issue of moronic AI
Honey and honeycombs are decently useful, and you can't have those without bees. I don't know where the idea of bees as the archetypal "useless mob" comes from, that title goes to polar bears.
>armadillo dog armor
What were they thinking ? These useless ass dogs will still die in one creeper explosion or just by falling into lava. The armor would have to be extremely overpowered to matter at all

I'm actually surprised at this level of ineptitude. Why can't you make dog armor out of leather and metal? Why does it have to be out of armadillo hide?
Mojang's environmental concerns have always been farcical. Polar bears have no function, but that's because they don't want to encourage children to go out of their way to attack polar bears in real life. Sharks won't be added, because of the same reason. Whales won't be added, same reason, but for some reason Chink Edition already has Whales. Now, they'll give us a finite durability item that extends block placing range that we have to go out of our way to genocide a species for, or they'll give us a piece of material that can be used to create armour for wolves that we have to go out our way to harass a species for. Swedes are mentally ill.
No child is going to go out of their way to find a polar bear and attack it. The polar bear is also like 4x their size anyway
The most moronic thing was taking away fireflies because some frogs can't eat some fireflies, even though frogs in the wild for the most part DO eat fireflies
imo it was moronic when they rendered ocelots useless after adding cats to the game, when they were already in the game. i mean im confused are tamed cats you already have still cats or do they turn back into ocelots are ocelots still even in the game or did they just remove them?
Ocelots are still in the game, but can't be tamed. You can make them 'trusting', but all that does is make them breedable and incapable of despawning. They don't follow you or do tamed cat commands like sitting.
>sea turtles drop scutes for some shitty potion and a iron-tier helmet >need 5 scutes to make helmet >sea turtles only drop scutes when growing up from babies to adults >if you have them in the wild the scutes are bound to be lost >build an enclosure (with an optional collection area) to minimize scute loss >grown turtles are now useless and will not produce scutes >turtles overcrowd the enclosure >since all you need is 2 turtles for a handful of eggs you can get rid of the other turtles >massacre all but 2 sea turtles >repeat if you want more scutes for more helmets
Mojang saved the environment and animal rights yet again! Thanks Mojang!
I will say for once they seem to be giving them a feature with some use that isn't a giga niche gimmick, to bad they still insist on these moronic mob votes instead of adding them all in at once
Why do they keep adding garbage that has nothing to do with >adventure >farming >creative >redstone
last update it was the unnecessary and boring copper ore and now it's this?
Has mojang given up on minecraft?
theyre adding effortless cheap bloat just as an excuse for people not to say theyve abandoned the game
minecraft has been running like complete shit since 1.9, the content theyve added ever since this version to this day can be condensed into 2 or 3 actual updates
thats corporate for you
they sit around doing fricking nothing until 2 days before a deadline, then shit out low effort trash to keep their bosses off their ass
they dont have to worry about sales numbers anymore, everyone that wants to play minecraft already bought it 10 years ago
>minecraft mods add tons of shit over the years, entire overhauls and brand new mechanic systems >all modern mojang does is add stupid bullshit creatures that have no purpose, drop nothing and aren't even worth the air block they occupy >or they add features actively detrimental to the experience of mining and crafting
copper is easily the #1 most pointless mineable object in minecraft all it does is take up cave gen I'd rather have stone wall than copper veins
Extremely bad fake >concept art is AI and doesn't even slightly resemble official art >proportions of the new mob models are way off >color choices for the alt. witches are poor, would easily confuse colorblind users (given that one of the devs is colorblind, this is something they always take into account) >new textures are genuinely terrible and don't even slightly match the pixel artist's style >trying to pass this off as internal documents yet includes comicially over-the-top quotes such as "something with the portal!?"
You would legitimately have to be 12 to believe any of this, it's laughably bad.
REWORK THE FOOD SYSTEM ALREADY FOR FRICKS SAKE
WHY DO BASIC INGREDIENTS YOU CAN GET ON THE FIRST DAY WITH NO EFFORT HEAL MORE THAN ACTUAL RECIPES
WHAT THE FRICK
Apparently they will dance, so I'm catching a few for sure to put in my music room next to my parrots. And the crab will win because of the crab rave meme
Notch also did lame shit like naming them Endermen because of le Slenderman even though the community at large wanted them to be called Farlanders, and he even ignored the vote where Farlanders won.
Slenderman was never soulful
t. caught on to marblehornets within the first 4 episodes because of a friend. I endlessly bullied him for liking that shit and just rolled my eyes when it went viral and he acted smug.
Farlander is a cringe name, and he obviously already had the idea for the end at the time. Not only that, but Slenderman was actually popular at the time, rather than being popular 5 years ago.
Nah people liked the name because of the strange "farlands" at the edge of the then world generation that isn't the case anymore.
Notch always seemed to hate all of that like it exposes his algorithm or something even if he donated 10000$ to a guy for making it there with ingame means.
I think you owe someone an apology, Ganker.
completely different game with some overlaps frick off consolewartard.
And Slenderman being popular was just Notch going along with a fricking meme, while the Farlands were an actual part of Minecraft at the time and were very popular for people to discuss within the actual community. Enderman didn't even make any sense at the time because there was no End dimension.
expanding on what you're saying, the end itself was never meant to be what it is now. it was intended to be a placeholder, and that's why the ender dragon was so bare bones at first. then microsoft swooped in and fricked EVERYTHING up, solidifying the end as the only ending we will ever get when the game was supposed to be expanded miles beyond what it is now.

>the end itself was never meant to be what it is now
Then what was it supposed to be?
I vaguely recall Notch talking about ideas for the antithesis for the Nether (i.e. doing what the Aether was doing, which released around this time), but stating something on the lines of the "lighting engine couldn't handle it well enough" - hence The End being dimly lit throughout, simplifying lighting calculations. The modern lighting engine of the current game actually could run the original skyworld idea just fine. Beyond "some kind of skyworld", though, I don't think anything is known about the original plans for what-would-become The End?

sitenote: yes I know about FLAOT but that likely was not related to The End dimension as it came around a year beforehand iirc as a somewhat early world gen test
but it implies distance!
it makes it feel alien!
get it!? they aren't from here! its from the lands far away!
enderman is too abstract it should have been something relateable, like something from far away! a farlander if you will!
>and he even ignored the vote where Farlanders won
Knowing nothing about this, it was probably some vote some redditors made without his know or care about the matter and unless you can prove me otherwise, I'll believe that
Enderman is a shit meme name, and newbies probably don't remember that they were absolutely loathed on release for their original overpowered lifting. The entire 1.0 update was completely mediocre, and didn't become worthwhile until years later.
the players might be there but the soul of minecraft is gone
its a locked down homosexual version of what it used to be
sure you can mod it but you can never justify a game banning you from playing singleplayer for writing "frick" in the chat
Honestly I'd rather have useless mobs like pandas than mobs who for all intents and purposes should be useless and just be around to be cute and whatever but are shipped with some contrived "use" because normalcattle Minecraft fans on the Xitter who'd rather be playing Terraria anyways think that everything should have a "use" (subject to goalpost-shifts).
Thinking about how frogs vomit lamps for no fricking reason. It's a fricking frog, it eats the bugs and lives in the pond, why does it vomit lamps? They could've added frog legs for some reason but they don't want you to kill animals anymore so just make them ambient mobs, that's fine.
My vote is going to whatever mob I feel is more fun or interesting gameplay-wise, frick "usefulness".
>Mo Creatures mod comes out 12 years ago >adds 30 new mobs with their own drops, mechanics etc >its the most popular or 2nd most popular mod of the time >Mojang hires the modder >he's not allowed to update his mod anymore >spends 10 years adding 1 of his old mod's mobs one at a time every 2 years >they're not even as good as they were in the original mod
yep
they hired him specifically to work on making mobs for Minecraft so it makes perfect sense that they'd put some convoluted "we own the rights to your mod and any minecraft content you make in your free time becomes property of the company".
its pretty common
No he wouldn't, because mods aren't made for profit. Even then, he could code the thing and hand it off to someone else to actually publish it, plenty of rich fricks do this regularly to get around government regulations.
well it make sense, mods face far less scrutiny since it's free optional content. You can't do that in an official capacity without a lot of testing and seeing how well it works with the rest of the game and other ongoing internal work. For example the phantoms were so terrible it has its own toggle option.
>>adds 30 new mobs with their own drops, mechanics etc
Some of them were pretty useless, I remember mice just dropping seeds and that's it.
Lots of creature bloat.
But the fricking horse breeding mechanic and hostile mobs were wicked sick and justified the mod so much.
armor for your pets has been something people wanted for ages, the real problem is another feature people wanted such as something that increase your block placing range is being left up to another fricking mob vote instead of all said features being added at once
i dont understand why microsoft lets mojang get away with doing literally the minimum amount of work on minecraft
look at fricking terraria and how huge their updates are, imagine if every minecraft update was that big and where we would be at >b-but
but nothing, minecraft is the best selling video game of all time and is backed by one of the biggest fricking companies in the world
they have 0 excuses for getting btfo by a bunch of indie devs
>point out how mojang and microsoft have the resources to add all three AND THEN SOME >minecraft fan comes out of left field, two fists already stacked on top of each other with their mouth agape >OMGG, SERIOUSLY? YOU SHOULD BE THANKFUL WE'RE GETTING ANYTHI- GLUCK GLUCK GLUCK >L-LIKE... ADDING LIKE.... MAKING LIKE... A POLL FOR A USELESS MOB IS LIKE.... REALLY LIKE... COMMUNITY BUILDING....
these people need to be murdered. how does corporation wienersucking become this bad? why do people humanize these disgusting corporations? the ceos need to be killed.
Minecraft youtubers defend the developers no matter what for good boy points, the children who watch them preach it as gospel. They can get away with literally anything, they removed telemetry a while back to comply with GDPR, then backpedaled and added more invasive telemetry you can't disable without a 3rd party launcher. Minecraft players are too young or too dumb to understand all that bullshit so it was ignored and overshadowed by chat reporting.
>Mojang adds new passive mob >It's an endangered animal in real life >Make it more useless bloat because they don't want children to go on and stomp a turtle in real life
Why do they keep doing this
It's just an ad to generate interest in the game to boost sales while no having to actually develop anything complex or interesting so they can focus development on chinese minecraft and microtransactions
At this point the most fun you can have with minecraft is trying to gaslight the devs into removing features for mobs "in case a kid does one thing or another".
>Villages everywhere make surviving the first night way too easy >Ruined Nether portals everywhere ruin the immersion of the game and it's a lazy way to teach players how to build a portal >Random Pillager spawns also ruin the immersion of the game >Phantoms suck and won't get changed because "i-it's a punishment for not voting wisely!" >Fletching tables STILL don't have a use >Rather than improving or expanding minecarts, they decide to add elytra to render them obsolete >Same for Enchanting tables when Villagers make enchanted books more easily available >Mending makes Anvil repairing a joke with the absurd costs >Boring biomes like Birch forests spammed everywhere making exploring more of a chore >Copper is useless when they could've made something simple with them like Copper pipes >Swamps were promised an update but they still are the same with Mangrove being just a variation >Polar Bears and Pandas are useless >Archeology is barebones and only exists as decoration >Sniffer is useless too except it's even worse because Mojang said they won't update it and its plants to be more than just decorations >Armor trims are useless and only exist to waste resources >Mojang claims they won't add certain animals like Sharks and Crocodiles because killing them is "too unethical!" >Promise features but never deliver on them for shitty reasons (Ridable dragons, Birch forest update, Bundles, Combat update, etc.) >Mob votes feel like they are added out of spite because once they're in the game, Mojang won't bother updating them or making them more useful/less egregious >Everything about the new online moderation system is ass
Pretty sure jeb admitted at one point that he only added polar bears because his wife thought they were cute. He's no doubt well aware how contradictory it is to have added them
He added them (and Pandas, Sea Turtles, and Coral Reefs) for "global warming" environmental propaganda.
>Polar Bears are dying cuz the ice caps are melting!! >Pandas are dying out! (Also China, please support our game.) >Please do our tedious and unrewarding task of protecting baby sea turtles! There's no way you could get turtle shells or scutes without saving the sea turtles! >The Coral Reefs are getting bleached! If you place these unique and colorful blocks out of water they turn grey and useless!
>that one old mod from 2014 that made it so trees grew naturally, and dropped saplings on their own which grew into more trees >that satisfying feeling of planting 2-3 saplings, coming back 6 hours later and seeing a small forest growing
Uuuuuuuuuuuhhhhh... ever heard of... player engagement?????
and clearly if the second place mob gets 40% of votes, it should still be thrown in the trash bc people dont want it enough
There's no valid reason. One mob will be added and the other two will be put in Mojang's trash bin of ideas forever.
The vote is just marketing, by only adding 1 of the mobs it encourages discourse (and inevitable seethe post-vote), all of which pushes the game up into the trending spotlight on all major social media platforms. It doesn't matter how many times the fans complain that about the devs being lazy, this isn't even a decision on the part of the developers - it was Microsoft's idea, and sadly as a marketing scheme it clearly works every single time. Every year, the fanbase pushes the game up as #1 trending on x (formerly twitter) and to the trending page on youtube just because of a fricking mob vote.
The fact we are talking about it ITT right now proves how effective this marketing trick is.
>vote for one of these three mobs, all of them have the sole purpose to drop an item that you can use to access a feature that mods have allowed players to do for years, possibly a decade or longer at this point
minecraft should've just stopped development in 1.7.10
Minecraft youtubers defend the developers no matter what for good boy points, the children who watch them preach it as gospel.
I have a question for you all, why complain if you most likely don't even play the game anymore, or the latest versions of the game? We're proving that 1.7.10 or 1.8.9 or literally any version of your choosing is "le superior version" every single day pretty much. And as for me, I do complain about these kinds of things, I stay on 1.7.10, I install a bunch of mods to try and have fun and then I never bother playing the game ever again because all the mods I installed confuse me and alter the game in a way that makes it less minecrafty.
Minecraft is not supposed to be a live service game, it shouldnt be getting these kinds of updates and the quality of updates we're getting have vastly somewhat diminished, albeit are still epic and grandure like a massive cave update, new boss-type mob (Warden) and new biomes to explore. I often feel like despite our collective moaning, whining and b***hing that nothing about the game is really going to change and it would genuinely be better if you just stopped playing and said "New useless mob? whatever" instead. Most veteran players of Minecraft don't even play the game anymore, once you know everything, it becomes boring and theres nothing they can add to the game to fix that. Nothing inspires you to build or explore or really do anything, but yourself.
I personally feel like Minecraft died the day that dedicated Minecraft YouTube died, when part of the website was quite practically responsible for driving the game's success, started to get dethroned by other games like Fortnite and Roblox, among other things. Minecraft would be nothing without Yogscast and Stampy etc.
>finite water mod discontinued >enviromine (tunnels collapse unless you build supports, low oxygen in tunnels unless you put leaves down etc) discontinued >gasses mod discontinued >mods are split across 2 platforms now that are incompatible with each other >vanilla minecraft has added literally nothing for well over 8 years at this point >villages and testificates still fricking useless and completely mogged by Millenaire or MineColonies
and the morons wonder why everyone still plays 1.7.10 or older
>mods are split across 2 platforms now that are incompatible with each other
Sasuga, anon.
https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/forgified-fabric-api
What is this about anyway? I just recently took a look after like a decade of not playing it and suddenly there is an integrate mod launcher, which is alright I'm lazy, and this forge/fabric schism
Back around 1.13, Forge was doing really shittily. It's a bloated mess, and development is blisteringly slow. Forge updates are even slower. Fabric came as a pseudo-fork, splitting off of Forge's necessary functionalities and expanding on them as needed in a total rewrite to make their own API and modloader sets. Fabric can update as early as a few hours into day one of a new Minecraft update, and Forge can't. Forge's devs are also legitimate troglodytes who attempt to push out new contributors, just like Optigay.
Don't even get me started on the golem. Like, they finally had another use for copper; but the goddamn squid won because Dream told his fans to vote for it.
...Or am I thinking of two different mob votes?
no thats two different ones
glow squid had the flower cow from the mobile game and a another shitty evil villager
the golem got beat by the cookie fairy
They just need to make Minecraft 2. They obviously don't want to do anything ambitious since you can't pay for updates. They need to start selling DLC or something, because being a vanilla creative gay is miserable, I want more adventure map tools and aggressive mobs.
My favourite mode in Minecraft is, or, was, creative mode. I used to play mostly on Creative Plot Servers and a huge reason for that was to build things and show them off to other people, create rollarcoasters that you and others could interact with and redstone minigames for everyone to play and share, parkour courses, roleplays, hangouts etc. Those servers for some reason have died in popularity massively and players seem to congregate more on servers that are heavily pay to win and grindy, usually involving survival.
Creative Mode singleplayer is a bit miserable, despite having all the tools you would ever need to make literally anything thanks to command blocks, the obvious question is "Why would I?" considering that there is not a community to even appreciate my builds in game. People don't even play adventure maps anymore, that YouTube craze died a long time ago. Aside from that, theres just not a lot to really do, it feels like it needs more Sandbox elements or something, like we need a Minecraft Garry's Mod, except, Minecraft IS a Minecraft Garry's Mod, it's just, sandbox games are becoming lesser and less fun because its not really about building things anymore, its about adventure and survival and whatever else.
I would recommend Teardown as an alternative, or similar games like that, better but slightly similar sandbox experiences.
In 2010 Notch and his small team added:
- Infinite terrain generation
- Buckets
- Signs
- Doors
- Falling blocks
- Minecarts
- Dungeons
- Pig riding
- Compass
In 2023 Mojang has added:
- Some new wood types
- Camels and Sniffers
- Archeology system nobody has ever used
- Fishing
- Paintings
- Chicken Farming
- The Nether

Minecraft at its core is a very simplistic game and it has overstayed its welcome, there is nothing that Microsoft or Mojang can actually add to draw old players back in or make the game fun again. There is no new mechanics they can add to make the game better in any way, it would genuinely be better if they just left the game alone, but instead they insist on minor small little updates to try and keep interest. This is their "100 year run".
I quite like the idea of playing a game where you and some strangers can build something together, in the rare instances that has happened to me, it has been quite fun, collective and collaborative creativity has always been a part of Minecraft that inspired the most out of me and its a reason why I miss so many classic or freebuild / creative servers so much. I don't miss classic that much because the worlds are limited in size so you often can't make anything you want to, but with infinite size, you and some others could make an entire city, hangouts, redstone minigames, etc. It's just a shame that kind of thing is locked behind having friends and isn't accessible widely anymore, due to focus on Survival and the timewaste of farming and mining and resource gathering when you could just be building with all the resources you need already at your hands instead.
In that way, Creative Mode is an inferior Survival Mode because everything I described, you can do, just only in SMPs and only with friends. I have asked to be part of groups and guilds on many servers but all of them decline mostly because they're snobs and they call me a "non" and they expect me to buy a $70 digital garbage rank just so they can read my chat messages or whatever. This, ofcourse, is just them trying to flex and signal that they're rich, when in actuality, they're a whale with poor purchasing decisions and not much going on in their life, so they need to fill the holes with instant gratification and hierarchy on a videogame.
For something that has overstayed its welcome it sure is still one of the most popular games of our time.
I don't think they care for your feelings when for every zoomer/late millenial there are plenty of alphas to rope in.
Just the other day I saw an ad with toddlers having their Minecraft™ fun and then turning into Minecraft™ zombies chasing each other.
I died a little inside.
The kids in my family at least are actually pretty tired of Minecraft at this point. Even they know how lazy and uneventful the updates are. My nephew was super excited about what was supposed to have been the biggest update ever and was super disappointed they cut it into pieces.
My favourite part about being a zoomer is the fact that not everyone actually fits into that category of being one, atleast socially. But I suppose my point is that Minecraft has always been a game for kids and I was a kid at some point, but now I'm an adult, so no wonder I don't like this game anymore, the target demographic is just children and nothing more than that.
[brand] makes [product] that make brain go numb because NPC brains are wired so shittily that they think "buying product = dopamine"
it's a step lower than parasocialism, because at least parasocialism is just you trying to get another person's attention for a vague chance at social satisfaction
Literal autism it's a childrens game of building blocks, you can bet any weird parasocial homosexual on reddit twitter or a discord is going to be a legit "dedidated wam" autty
I just want a modpack or some sort of mod that adds content to 1.8.9 or 1.7.10 that actually feels like it should be in Minecraft and not all this disgustingly bizarre gregtech complicated mess of stuff. Not even the Aether really "fits" into minecraft all that much and even Mo Creatures looks a little out of place.
Would be awesome if Notch came back one day and made mods for Minecraft or something like that, developed the game even when he doesn't own it, but he doesn't care about it and neither do I to be honest.
I don't know, to be honest, theres not really a fun modpack out there that I can think of.

Try "better than adventure," it's a mod for beta 1.7.3 that adds a ton of new features while keeping the feel of the older versions. Gets pretty consistent updates.
>sharks are being killed because they're misunderstood! >also, uh we cant add sharks because we dont want kids going near them and uhhh, the sharks will like... yknow.......
Unironically what the actual frick is up with so much of their "WE CAN'T DO THIS BECAUSE THE ANIMAL IS DANGEROUS OR ENDANGERED" shit? I can't think of a single other video game company that acts like this.
Jeb just hates sharks, the same argument could be made for all the fricking animals in the game with little tweaks, it even has fricking parrots.
Also you can make stuff like pic related
Show me something more cynical and inhuman in any other "ethical" game than building an automaton than breeds chicks into a box that then get killed by lava the moment they turn mature.
And there are plenty setups like this for pretty much everything.
Again, Jeb just hates sharks and Gura, frick him disingenuous c**tbeardhomosexual.
Jeb is an absolute idiot who does not know what to do with the content he somehow inherited, the whole thing is incomprehensible to him so he just adds cute reddit animals from time to time to get the paycheck. The only reason it works for him is because the jeets and coked up MBAs at microsoft are even more clueless than he is, he would not last a single day in a real videogame studio.
>the reason they're endangered is because they're misunderstood
no the reason they're endangered is cuz the fricking chinese catch them, cut off the fin and throw away the rest of the fricking shark
Someone tell them that there's certain kinds of armadillos that are endangered so they can't be in the game either. We don't want kids trying to kill armadillos thinking they can make armor for their dogs.
but then they add armadillos (endangered) and encourage you to stomp them for heckin cute doggy clothes
what a crock of shit
Why do you rhino you'll have to kill the armadillo to get stuff? Its going to be exactly like the turtle where you need to breed or wait for it to drop. Killing will drop nothing.
>don’t make mobs drop items on death >making hunting animals for materials impossible >goats only drop horns after ramming into something and they don’t grow back >sea turtles only drop scute when growing up from baby to adult and are useless afterwards >if you have a pen for these animals they eventually overcrowd >make having a breeding factory where you have to constantly kill and renew the creatures the only way
>pandas
added for the chinks and stolen from chink edition which also has content you'll never see on global, including a new dimension and 4 new bosses
There's a version of Minecraft exclusively accessible through mainland Chinese IPs and NetEase accounts that is monitored by and administered by the CCP through NetEase. Some features include a brand new dimension ("the Apocalypse Realm") with its own exclusive achievements, items, biomes, mobs, and four new bosses to fight. This was originally a mod for China Edition that was adopted (read: stolen) by NetEase. Pandas were made exclusively for a China Edition vote, but were added to global to pad out 1.14.
>mommy mommy look a shark! they're friendly because minecraft told me so! >alright timmy, go on and play with the shark!
this is unironically what mojang believes will happen
>we don't want to encourage people to get close to sharks because it's dangerous >we do want to encourage people to jump from lethal heights into 1 meter of water
you use cocoa beans to make cookies in game, and they're toxic to birds, but the original breeding item for parrots was cookies. so a bunch of fans messaged mojang about this with shit like "what if a kid feeds his parrot a cookie irl after doing it in game and kills it!"

>they're toxic
i will never forgive them for culling fireflies from the update because muh toxic to froggy
sounds like a bullshit reason tbh.
the spore blossom is far worse, and they literally just added cherry blossoms too for particle visuals.
it would essentially be that but only showing up at night in swamps. i guess you probably could've click them with a bottle to make a lantern of sorts too
they could've just made the frogs not eat them, but im pretty sure the real reason was they caused some lag issue with console bedrock versions
No child is going to go out of their way to find a polar bear and attack it. The polar bear is also like 4x their size anyway
The most moronic thing was taking away fireflies because some frogs can't eat some fireflies, even though frogs in the wild for the most part DO eat fireflies
I am convinced that the reason they stated was not the actual reason they didn't add them. There's even some evidence as to what the real reason was: in dev version for Bedrock Edition (which certain marketplace partners have access to), footage of fireflies was shown and demonstrates that the fireflies are rendered using the game's particle system (rather than being a model or texture), however they also caused huge performance issues when summoning large numbers of fireflies as the cost of particles emitting dynamic light was too much for the lighting engine to handle with a large number of them present. Annoyingly, I can no longer find the youtube clip a realms map-maker I knew had uploaded, so I assume it got taken down.
Dev versions of the game are fascinating, a few of them have leaked out before *wink wink* worth swiping them up when they rarely show up as they get nuked pretty fast.
Mojang is still just a bunch of college students who never grew up. They don't want to work, they just want to get by through doing the least amount of work possible. They sit around all day quoting le funny Reddit memes to each other while piggybacking off of Notch's idea, and then go home to their black husbands pretending to be exhausted breadwinners.
Jeb and Agnes can fricking kill themselves, they're the worst out of all of them. If I hear Agnes define a new mob as "derpy" one more time, I will legitimately snap. How can a game this popular and mass-played have the dumbest fricking people in the world working on it???
wasn't there an interview at some point where someone literally admitted all anyone does at mojang all day is just sit around playing the game while brainstorming ideas?
And those ideas go to waste unless they can make toys and merch with them. Under Notch or someone else, any idea could be played with and if it worked, it'd get added.
The entire game design of Minecraft is entirely fricked.
There still isn't a good diamond sink. Despite how valuable diamond is, once you get the armor and tools, it's fricking useless.
I'm surprised there isn't a 4hr long essay video by some nerd deconstructing how flawed it is.
I can personally go on forever on how bad it actually is and how much is missing. And the worse part is that it's still a fun sandbox, Mojang are just lazy fricks and are intentionally dripfeeding content.
world generation got ruined at some point, places of interest are too hard to reach, mobs of interest are too hard to find, like polar bears and goats and whatever new mobs they add, you have to travel really really really far from your base to actually find, the game relies more on adventure and exploration now rather than building and surviving, or surviving the night, so you are actively punished for making a base by putting most of the content nearly 5000 blocks away from you at all times. this may inspire you to create travel systems like trains and stuff, but the biomes are just too far apart from eachother that it will take too long and is not worth it, not to mention that minecarts have been neglected for years and the addition of the elytra invalidates any and all other transportation systems once you obtain it, mending makes pretty much any tool unbreakable and invalidates unbreaking and mending items in the anvil, mobs are not at all a challenge even on hard mode, you can typically avoid them all together just by sleeping or running away from them, the warden does not look like he belongs in the game, the new stone types complicate the system and make ores look like garbage, the new textures suck, lena raine and new artists don't fit well with C418's tracks, the allay doesn't fit either, mojang keeps adding blocks and mobs that don't have much of an impact on your gameplay and as such are "useless", more wood types we didn't ask for, poorly implemented "mob votes" when they're so low effort why not just add all 3 (we would have so much more content tbh), the frickingt ravager i mean just look at it that is not a minecraft mob, world generation has too many oceans to the point where land feels like islands and not really like actual pieces of land sometimes, camels are just horses, the end fight is too easy, you can respawn in the nether now and there is even wood there too...
>polar bears
useless >goats
useless >adventure and exploration vs. building and surviving
minecraft has never been a survival game, it is exclusively a sandbox experience >minecarts
dubious, you can still do moronspeed booster mechanisms if you know how >elytra
should be removed >mending
should be nerfed >warden, skulk
remove entirely >new stone types
unfrick their ore textures and go back to the old ore textures jesus christ >C418
will be removed soon because microsoft refuses to let him continue publishing his tracks separate from minecraft to make a living because he's not even paid royalties >allay
garbage from a scam vote abused by youtubers and their armies of children, like all mob votes >blocks/mobs are useless
yeah >wood types we didn't ask for
frick you Black person >mob votes
see allay >ravager
yeah >camels are just horses
yeah >beds explode in the nether/end
allahu akbar
>minecraft has never been a survival game, it is exclusively a sandbox experience
beds used to didnt exist so you were forced to survive the night
sprint didnt exist so you couldnt outrun mobs
brightness didnt exist so everything was pitch black if you didnt have any light sources
there was barely any health regeneration either, then food was added and ruined most of that.
as a 1.7.10 gay, i dont give a single frick about beta, however, these concerns expressed by beta players have made their mark on me as i agree that mobs were tougher in beta, there was actually some level of threat, compared to how there is none today.
minecraft for me is mostly a sandbox building game though, but playercounts on creative plot servers have drastically declined and people never seem to actually play creative mode anymore, its just seen as a developer tool.

regarding all my concerns, this makes Dont Starve and Dont Starve Together better survival games than the survival mode in Minecraft, with my only grievances of those games being that its not very sandboxy and you don't get a lot of time to do your own thing like make a base, instead you have to follow a strict routine. But not starving in those games is still pretty fun and not that hard at all if you know what you're doing. I always played as Willow in that game because shes my favourite character, I stopped playing it though because it got boring and my friends didnt want to play it with me because they both hate the game and were unwilling to try it even once.
Terraria is also a game that is 100x more funner than Minecraft, alone and with friends! It is kind of a wiki reading sim at times though.

and Terraria modding has stagnated less than Minecraft modding. Some pretty interesting mods too like Rangemancer or anything fleshing out Summoner more
C418 actually owns his songs, that's why microsoft wants him out of the game, they HAVE to pay him royalties, that's why they aren't hiring him anymore

Just like a company that preaches leftist virtues like equity and diversity to want to get out of paying people.
Also the new music sucks and it makes me turn off music altogether.

That's not how the music industry works. Standard practice is to hire an artist for a few tracks with an arranged fee. C418's contracts have always stipulated that he holds 100% of album revenue and is the sole individual that can sell the C418 tracks in Minecraft in album format. Mojang, and Microsoft, don't want him to have that right anymore and thus they're moving on to other artists who don't fit the game simply to shoulder him out.

This honestly makes sense. I like C418's music, but I wouldn't want it in my project.

its a shame that hes unfathomably based and we'll never get a 3rd mc album because of that. he wont sell his soul to a soulless company.

c418s tracks are artistic masterpieces that make minecraft, minecraft. hes a core part of the games identity and seeing lena treens and the goon squad of people who think they have a similar vibe to c418 have ruined the core identity.
c418s work in minecraft made me realise that all of his work was just amazing, like i love everything he has made, minecraft is a gateway to the musicians amazing music.
>turtle
turtle master is a fun gimmick potion and i like the turtle helmet's water breathing effect. tedious, but it has some genuine use >dolphins
unironically useful for underwater builds/exploration because of the massive speed buff they give. i also appreciate that feeding them actually has them hunt down the nearest shipwreck/buried treasure/ocean ruin chest in the area.
continuing on, the nether is supposed to be a harsh and hostile environment, look at striders, what is that even, and zoglins, they ruined the zombie pigmen design, bastions are a great addition, so is nether gold (it fills a "lore" gap, explains why zomb pigmen have gold items), but they made it habitable for some reason, allowing you to respawn there, when before then, the only method of respawning would just have you explode, this was "intentional game design" that was supposed to imply you aren't allowed to respawn there and yet, they added that anyways. starving in this game is almost near impossible, there is food literally everywhere, oceans everywhere too so if you're starving just eat kelp, general performance downgrade and bloat over the years, terrain style and generation fricked up because moBlack person want massive mountains now. sculk and the deep dark should be its own dimension but instead its in the overworld, theres even a big portal for one so either they will add a sculk dimension or they wont and piss us off. (give us more dimensions and bosses pls)
i cant really think of anything else but there is a lot more to be said, i recently started playing 1.6.4, i have spawned close enough to a village and a jungle and actually tamed 3 fricking ocelots, that was the first time i have ever actually tamed a cat in minecraft, i feel biased towards this version and its world generation as the amount of biomes that are accessible to me within a short distance is quite vast.
if theres one thing i think minecraft needs, its more mineshaft like structures that provide the player with dungeons to explore underground instead of the one end dungeon we have and those moss cobble boxes with spawners in them (very boring if you ask me)
>The game is based around adventure and exploring
But nothing's interesting, I feel like. My friend bought me minecraft since they wanted to play a year or two ago and I always figured the game was more about autismo-builds because the actual progression in this game seems awful. There's the occasional extremely rare building made by something else like a village or a tower or a mansion or sunken ships but it's all sort of a one time affair that doesn't feel very rewarding compared to the effort of even finding it in the first place. Meanwhile I see them nerfing the shit out of villagers and making trading for shit like mending more tedious, I kind of see why people just rush the end of the game to get stuff like that because your tools get too expensive to repair and there's no low/mid-tier travel systems so obviously people want the wings. I fricking hate exploring in minecraft because you have to go so far away to do anything of note and then the walk back is extremely boring, they really should have added a magic mirror-styled item ages ago. Maybe the game just isn't for me because I always think terraria scratches the itch more for me in general, I like exploring and fighting and both of those are at least moderately better. The most enjoyable moments I've had I can think of in MC is building mob/xp/villager farms, honestly.
i had a massive notes file about the game but you could probably make one if you wanted to, but we're not that autistic i guess.
>no vertical slabs, despite it being requested since forever >overworld being the most overbloated dimension in the game by far, leaving the other two in the dust, specially the end >the change of cats and ocelots being separate mobs made ocelots a fricking useless mob >same for polar bears, wtf, why did they add them? they do nothing, and it's texture is horrible >dog/wolf's being feels unfinished and unpolished. you should not be able to hit your dog while killing mobs >diamond is such an iconic ore that they can't add a new more powerful ore without the players b***hing about diamonds becoming useless and unspecial >there's a huge clash of mobs designs between old and modern, compare the frog's features and fluid animations to the basic af pigs and cows, whose only features are being food and having the same shitty animations from 10 years ago
and i could say more. i also personally believe the features added by notch back then doomed modern minecraft updates and balance as a whole, and the only way to fix it is by making a minecraft 2 at this point. potions should be obtained much further in the game as well as enchantments (this one would fit perfectly in a hipothetical sky/aether dimension), because of how easy it is to craft an enchanting table and brewing stand so early in the game and how stupidly easy the game becomes after that, i think they should be pushed further in the game's progression
that is, if minecraft EVER fricking gets progression
>vertical slabs
Suggestion is actually outright banned by name because they don't want to add them, because they "hamper creativity". >diamond is such an iconic ore that they can't add a new more powerful ore without the players b***hing about diamonds becoming useless and unspecial
They sure ate up Netherite like crack rocks in the inner cities.
yeah the game has no actual progression system and i feel like mc could do better with a terraria-like class system and more enemies with scalable difficulties. you dont even need to add bosses, just make certain mobs in certain biomes harder than the others or have the game adapt to your progress in some way, like invasions or events that make you not want to skip the night or simply unable to do so, maybe shooting stars or comets that allow you to make wishes and stuff. a lot of what i have just said is in fan made mods but i dont play those mods because its made by a furry who uses discord who puts furry art into his game.
aside from enchanting experience points is also a wasted opportunity that could have been used for other things. instead of enchantments you could maybe use xp to increase damage on certain types of weapons, like bows or swords for example, make it so that you lose half of everything when you die or just everything when you die like in Unturned's skill system, lock off certain parts so if you choose to be a ranged player, you stay a ranged player or just deal with the fact that your bows are op but ur swords are not.
here's more, to add to my list >the wither boss, who only has one attack (three if you count the initial explosion and the "second phase"'s block breaking) feeld unfinished when compared to the ender dragon, who has multiple phases and more attacks, and isn't as easily cheesable as the wither >why ride a pig when you can ride a horse for a faster result and basically the price? (aka. a saddle) >even worse, why ride a horse or build a minecraft track when you can use the elytra for the rest of the game? >they removed cooper horns for literally no reason, when they were completely functional already and had better sounds and was a small but still nice feature for cooper ore, which lacks usefulness >modern minecraft features only go a single way and inmediately stop, with no time to build upon them, for example: >archeology, it can be used to dig a few materials and pot fragments. nothing else, and will probaly stay like this for another 10 years >mangrove swamps, just a new wood type and mud, it really is the biome of all time. nothing else, and will stay like this for another 10 years or when the crab gets added instead of the other two
>vertical slabs
Suggestion is actually outright banned by name because they don't want to add them, because they "hamper creativity". >diamond is such an iconic ore that they can't add a new more powerful ore without the players b***hing about diamonds becoming useless and unspecial
They sure ate up Netherite like crack rocks in the inner cities.
>they don't want to add them, because they "hamper creativity"
lmao >they sure ate up netherite like crack rocks in the inner cities
and that's thanks to netherite being related to diamonds in the first place, and even then, some people still seethed over netherite being an upgrade to diamond for no reason
They hate the End. There was legit a statistic showing that more than half of minecraft players never beat the dragon, or if they did, never explored the Outer End.
Casuals dont touch the End, so they dont touch the end
You say that but that was also the case with the nether before the rework. Nobody really cared at all for the nether, it was just for fast travel, quartz and brewing
then what was the point of all the deep dark patches? shit is more annoying to navigate than the end stuff
bridging in the end on consoles is easier too than pc crouching
I'm pretty sure that statistic is because the majority of minecraft players play minecraft online instead of single player. And in most servers, the end is disabled.
Minecraft should Go Full procedurally generated Dungeon exploration and survives
This shitty fricking updates add nothing to a game that has so much freedom and potential
what's your favorite modpack?
i tried one (no idea which one it's been ages) but the people i played with just kept trolling each other so we never really did anything with it.
Never once after playing Mario did I think "Oh I can just jump on turtles and kick their shells, it'll be fine". There are thousands of games with animals as enemies
Meerkat
Oasis
Palm trees
Baobab trees
Termites
Ostriches
Vultures
Tumbleweed
Prickly Pear cactus
Moobloom
Iceologer
Glare
Copper Golem
Rascal
Tuff Golem
Crab
Armadillo
The actual winning mob, watch
All of this could have been added with each update they were introduced in. Even worse: The blaze boss got added in one of the spin-offs when it could have been a cool midlevel boss to fight in the Nether Fortresses.
>oasis >palm trees >tumbleweeds
They have literally no excuses to not add these, that's just sheer laziness on their part. All of these things, frankly, but these three in particular are just egregious.

Didn't the earlier versions have a shitload of beaches? Granted, they would spawn in deserts but with so many beaches in my vanilla world from 2016, you would think palms would be a regular addition, even if it's just for wood.
>1 guy adds 89 new mobs all with gameplay features in 3 years >Mojang adds 3 useless creatures in the same time
Every day I hope they kill Java Edition so modders got a final version to work on and stop version chasing.
they look like they fit really well into the game in my opinion, i quite like that, shame its a 1.16 mod, i usually stick to 1.8.9 or 1.7.10, never liked the new combat update.

the one thing i forgot to mention, that fricking combat update, still hate it after all these years.
also forgot that stupid fricking child safety update and microBlack person controlling what you can and cant say online aswell as reporting skins and shit frick that frick the eula changes suck my dick
what minecrap babbies dont get is that just adding random fricking animals doesn't actually add shit to the game it's just shitty fluff and bloat
Look at terraria. What does a new update add? >new locations with new enemies to fight >new items to gather and craft with >new upgrades to existing items, new building materials >most importantly a new zone to explore with a new boss
There is literally zero value to any update that isn't at the very least on the level of the update that added the nether realm, or the update that added the end. Everything else that has been added to minecraft so far has been absolute filler that adds very little to the game overall
Reminder that Microsoft is to blame for Minecraft's stagnation, rigidness and minimal content updates, the April Fools builds are unironically the only time Mojang gets to have actual fun making anything for the game anymore.
What confuses me is that it seems like the combat update mechanics don't even seem to exist in the non-java version. Bedrock in general seems to just be worse in nearly every measurable way? The only thing I've found that you can do in bedrock that you can't do in java that isn't an outright feature removal is bonemealing sugar cane.
almost everything about bedrocks sucks dick >floaty movement and shitty swimming >can't disable vsync so looking around feels like shit >redstone is straight up random >doors waterlog, so sunken caves are impossible to make use of >health restores so slowly from food + mobs have 10 miles of reach, you can't fight shit until you get potions because you WILL take damage >you need a shovel to make a boat >can't use 1-9 keys to move stuff to and from your hotbar >can't disable animation of items moving, it's disorienting when you wanna do stuff fast >offhand limited to shield and totems >zombies can kill villagers through two blocks touching corners >lava in the nether ignites random blocks so you can randomly catch fire while running and once again it takes 20 years for your health to regen, so you're best off sitting it out AFK in a 1x2x1 box >no F3 screen so some important information is straight up unavailable in game >UI scale limited to everything-is-too-big mode >menus made for touchscreens that are cumbersome to navigate >can't fix any of it because no mods >can't play earlier versions >microtransactions are of course the most prominent main menu button
all of this is from playing just a couple hours of bedrock edition, it's miserable
really? maybe the bedrock devs don't know it either
it's a great feature, you can swap equipment very quickly, reorganize your hotbar in a couple small mouse movements + pressing keys with your other hand, so of course it's gone from bedrock edition
There are several minigames people have invented due to the combat being so absolute shit mundane arena style combat would be stupid.
Including Battle Royal. Yes you might not be aware of it but Hunger Games isn't to blame for kicking of the genre, but Minecraft PvP gays who watched Hunger Games are.
You can get an Elytra within an hour or two and they move at 7.2 m/s at minimum. Notable is that with firework rockets (easily replenishable) you fly at max speed. This completely shits all over an 8 m/s max speed minecart track.
Yes but the nice thing about minecarts is that they are automatic.
Also no not everybody just speedruns into the end and gets his wings to be then upset about it, the casual player needs like several actual days in time.
Mojang really should make minecraft a better survival game. Make combat dynamic instead of cooldown based. Have enemies with different attack patterns where you have to attack in a pattern. Or have different charge attacks that work better or worse for certain mobs. Oh and give villagers ai so they act like an actual town and make it an actual challenge to steal their shit and take their bed on the first night.
Also adding more varied enemy types other than differnt armor. Maybe the occasional op miniboss monster wirh good drops
Too bad everyone talks down adding challenge to the game because they think it would detract from the building aspect as if difficulty settings dont exist. Mojang just has to learn from action combat and rpg lite games
They did well with minecraft dungeons though, there's a lot of cool mobs there. Meanwhile the only mobs that are in the base game are pls help the endangered animalz 🙁 btw they will do nothing impactful in game srry :))
Having a pet summon like that to help kill mobs would be fun. Makes the game easier for kids too. Would be a useful summon and not some useless thing like axolotl who afk for 3 minutes after killing 1 enemy.
Microsoft's lazy asses could just reuse the vex/allay assets for it
>crab is boring outside extended reach, not even found in a real range of biomes >if it wins, it's going to feel underwhelming >if it loses, a really basic animal is going to either never be added or take YEARS to even be formally reannounced
I fricking despise mob votes. It's an epitome of so much wrong with Mojang nowadays.
>boring outside extended reach
If it's 2+ blocks it will genuinely be quite nice for building, but yeah it's still boring.
Dog armor is so utterly worthless though in comparison so I respect the crab so far. Hopefully the 3rd is actually useful
What he says at the end really is the biggest point, don't show cool shit and make people decide, just put all of it in. >B-but muh bloat
Shut the frick up homosexual and play 1.7.10 other people like me want as much shit as possible and I only play it like twice a decade.
it never went wrong anywhere as it's literally still more or less the same as the beta build with some added fluff
If it went wrong anywhere it's that it never went anywhere
>Constant updates before 2014 >2014 suddenly goes dry, ends with getting bought by microsoft >2015 is completely blank >Everything after that is staggered out and just random little features that barely change the game, despite there being dozens of features and overhauls players have been requesting since the late beta days
Looks like 2014 to me.
>great >great >great (i have no problem with hunger, at worst it's something you just ignore within the first 2 hours of a playthrough) >good >great up to 1.7 which irreparably fricked worldgen, literally the worst single change to the game >alright, monuments are kind of just there >greatest year since 2010 >great, end cities and mansions are fantastic >2015 part 2 >good >village overhaul good, bees pointless >nether overhaul is the best update in a decade >an entire year of fricking up worldgen even harder >expanding on fricked up worldgen and making caves more annoying
Also I'm not sure which update made all caves under bodies of water (namely oceans) flooded but whoever proposed that should be fricking crucified, resuscitated and then hung and shot before having their body thrown in an old septic tank and buried in Death Valley. You basically aren't allowed to have an island base after that update or you'll have to go straight down and dig in a straight line until you hit a proper continent to actually go caving. 1.7 worldgen is awful as a whole update but that change is the single worst one in the game's history.
1.8 probably
I think everything after 1.5 was pretty mediocre, I stopped playing around 1.8 and would only come back every once and a while to play modded. Everything post 1.9 feels like its really new and recent even though its 7 years old for 1.10 and 1.11 >t. either started in b1.8 or 1.0, don't remember which
People are disappointed because it was not originally meant to be a sandbox game, that's just what it ended up being because it appeals to the biggest market there is, children
Huh? What was it then? A survival game? It fricking started as simple block builder ala infiny miner.
notch planned to add actual content a la hell and the end, just more fleshed out and more of it. The whole sandbox thing was more or less just because the game was (and really, is) severely unfinished
When they keep trying to turn a sandbox game into an RPG one yes it is a bad update
It used to be about what YOU wanted to do like a sandbox, now all the paths are set up for you to do it a set order. Like netherite and armor trims. And they're clearly setting up for some portal in the deep dark too for another clear-cut RPG progression
More blocks for building
More biomes for building.
More weapons for different playstyles (where the frick is the magic aspect at)
More redstone interactive blocks. (even ones like the empty bookshelf added a lot of possibilities)
Rework wolves to be better battle pets if that's the directions they're aiming for them with armor soon
Better qol features, not shit like making you jump through RPG hoops like figuring out how to get different trades on villagers after the rework
Arbitrary bullshit, tell me how you got to the nether without a diamond pickaxe, how can you sandbox yourself a diamond pickaxe with getting an iron pickaxe first?
Your lava bucket and water bucket? Or finding obsidian in chests?
Your villager trading for diamond tools? Or finding in structures?
There's various ways of accomplishing a lot of the original features. Newer shit it progression tiered though with no deviance. It's a strict path microsoft wants you to follow on how to play. anti sandbox-like.
The deep dark portal will just be another thing to add onto this. You wanna visit the cool aether-land there? Better slog through the most unfun and scary part of the game kiddo
I'd like at least the option for biomes to be more commonly spread out. I've been playing Minecraft for years and I've never seen a mooshroom biome. any time I want to play with friends we spend a week looking for a mesa because that's the only biome my friend likes to build in.
>Spend hours looking for a desert on a server for cactus and rabbits >Travel across oceans that take 10 minutes to boat across >Only to find another god damn fricking birch forest on the other side
The terrain generation really is so bad with this "warm and cold" biome shit. It sounds good on paper but in reality theres literally no change in scenery for thousands of chunks and it's a 50/50 chance it just turns back into the temperature you were already at
Add a bunch of trees. A tree for each color and some other cool trees if they want to push awareness on endangered species like the dendrology mod did back in the day.
Endangered species for plants/trees would be cool >Find a rare tree in the wild >Bring back some saplings to cultivate and regrow the population >The blocks actually look different for building
Would be a change from a useless "look cute" endangered mob. It both covers the endangered awareness while adding blocks people are happy with
Arbitrary bullshit, tell me how you got to the nether without a diamond pickaxe, how can you sandbox yourself a diamond pickaxe with getting an iron pickaxe first?
They just release new "updates" to make it look like the game isn't finished, a.k.a. dead. What they really care about is the IP that they want to profit on by releasing spinoffs like dungeons and story mode, though by the looks of it, all spinoffs seem to sell jack shit.
>hey guys here's 3 shitty new mobs >please choose 1 >we'll add it and then nuke the other two out of existence. no it doesn't matter if they were actually good ideas deal with it we can't spend any more time working are you crazy
Good to know some things never change.
>Biome votes >"We'll add the other 2 biomes at a later date" >This was back in 2018 >Still no desert and savanna update >Still no swamp and badlands from the 2019 vote
>Add real life animals because you're trying to make the game realistic and want to teach kids that they shouldn't mess with those animals >Still let the player kill the animals anyway
I don't know how Mojang isn't automatically on the top of laziest devs on the planet. People will say shit like Gamefreak, CD Projekt RED, Rockstar, Ubisoft, Valve or Bethesda and I don't understand it. None of them pitch fully thought out features then ask to pick only one to be implemented then the rest eh some time maybe eventually probably not perhaps. Unlike Kickstarter projects or not ongoing projects they don't have an excuse with limited development time and budget. They have an unlimited money printer and all the time in the world and they choose to do this fricking shit with it. People shit on Pokémon all the time they at least put out 100 news monsters every 5 or so years. Minecraft you can count them with just your hands. Look at Assassin's Creed, even EA Sports and more thought was put into it.
These aren't bad rules
The real problem is that Mojang takes two whole fricking years to add one new useless animal, a new block type, two redstone components and if they're feeling generous maybe one new shitty pre-generated structure
Then call you entitled with their "well not every update needs to be incredible" spiel even though even GameFreak of all companies manages to shit out more content than them at the same rate
>image
That's all nice and maybe even true. Only problem is you're only supposed to work towards "atmosphere and charm" once you have an interesting game. The most bizarre feature creep.
>We can't add sharks because children might try to ride them irl! >Oh but we should teach them that wolves and bears are always friendly as long as you don't hurt them 🙂
I love how once again Mojang manages to make morons fight each other over some micro features any other dev team would be able to implement in a single day
it makes money by just existing, then they do a ton of marketing and make it super popular. rember, microsoft didn't buy them after they became the best selling game of all time - they were responsible for it selling that much with all their advertising power. probably a few hundred mils in with advertising, and they get billions out of it
Microsoft probably won't step in until Mojang starts losing money and players stop defending their shitty business practices. The unfortunate fact is that this stupid poll shit fricking works and does wonders for marketing.
>Game is really popular for a while >Game becomes cringe shit for BABIES >Pewdiepie starts playing and it becomes one of the biggest games ever again >Game is now looping back to being cringe dog shit
Its pretty cool to witness this happen in real time
dont get your hopes up there will no food at all because we wont be allowed to kill the mob
it will shed its claw or some nonsence and killing it will drop nothing
>let's you place blocks further away
This is extremely good even if it's just 1 extra block but unless this has durability you are going to get 1 crab claw and never interact with crabs ever again
You guys are dumb. Crab and Armadillo will be more useful than whatever the 3rd mob is by miles, and the Youtubers will make all their fanbases vote for the third option because "WON'T IT BE REAL FUNNY TO HAVE THIS COMPLETELY USELESS MOB THAT DOES NOTHING LIKE A TON OF THE OTHER MOBS LOL" or because Mojang bribes them to rig it.
They should fix villages and give them a coherent layout or more strict spawning standards. half the villages I see spawn on a cliff or look like an earthquake hit them. And the villagers are often stuck in their own homes because they can't pathfind out.
Why the frick does anyone still care about M*jang?
If you want Minecraft to actually reach the potential it has, then you HAVE to use mods. M*jang is completely fricking hopeless.
I'll admit, its a copper golem/allay case, the people aren't going to vote for the crab, it simply isn't useful nor cute for the casuals.
The penguin is literally out of question though, just like that moronic previous mob vote where his only function was to show how bright the cave was
>penguins
oh cool, so they'll either win automatically or they'll just add them later since they're clearly the one they actually want to get off their asses and add
still waiting on my PALM TREES
I will never forgive them for claiming they would increase the world height, hiring the guy who made the infinite world height mod, then only adding 50 blocks down (the height ceiling increase is irrelevant). At the very least they could have let infinite height worlds be generated in custom settings. All I wanted was to be able to generate a cave only world with no surface...
also copper pipes should have been added and work similar to buildcraft pipes
i will simply make my own tree where every leaf block drops 6 fruits and cutting it down gives 8 stacks of wood which have the same hex value as the default red color in microsoft paint
>mods like this will never appear as main game mechanics because zoomers are too moronic and demand content with the same complexity as a game of checkers
NOOOOOOO YOU CAN'T JUST ASK THEM TO ADD 3 SHITTY NPC'S INTO A GAME, IT HAS TO BE A VOTE SO MOJANG CAN GET 5 MINUTES OF EXTRA ATTENTION. WTFFFF WHY ARE GAMERS SO TOXIC AND ENTITLED, YOU NEED TO APPRECATE AND RESPECT THE FACT THAT THE MULTI-BILLION DOLLAR COMPANY IS STILL UPDATING THE MOST POPULAR GAME OF ALL TIME WITH 1 NEW ANIMAL ONCE PER YEAR
yes because you are a slop consuming animal that exudes money from some big shitty israelite corporation
why make this better
why be passionate about a thing you like
why ever be dissatisfied you have all you could ever need in your little box with gruel being pumped into your mouth
i do lmao
its just the "why are you mad bro you shouldnt be mad your seething you should just enjoy how shitty it is" mindset was always moronic to me
you SHOULD be b***hing as loud as you can if something sucks and you want it to change
some shitty teenager with his emotions hidden under 17 layers of irony who is to scared to express his true emotions or else he be called "seething" will not change my mind
You and I ain't the target demographic for the game anymore, and haven't been for a very long time. Microsoft treat the game more as a branding juggernaut than an actual video game, with yearly updates being strategically planned to maximize profit from merchandise sales and partnership deals. The mob vote and minecraft live are merely part of their marketing cycle to keep public interest on the game.
Is it bad that all I want from a proper update is some proper ambient effects and mobs that you see in daily life get implemented in a way so that you get to experience it no matter where you are in your world, instead of having to dig down deep and find the right cave or its only in a specific biome? They went in the right direction with the cave update by adding some more scenery to caves, but don't apply it to the rest of the world. I wanna see birds fly while walking through grass, or find slugs deep underground with the noise of an gushing waterfall nearby. They added ambient sounds years and years ago yet they remain unimplemented on the cutting room floor. It's easy to let this slide if you play mods but im not letting that argument slide so that Mojang can stay being incompetent with adding some soul in your world. It makes it much more alive and wouldn't make me bored to death after 2 minutes of starting a new world.
>add 3 different types of frogs for 3 different types of biome >oh but you have to frogs for those other two, they don't exist naturally in the wild 🙂
I hate mojang
Stupid decisions like those are obnoxious and happen all the time. Just have all 3 variants spawn at once instead of introducing some arbitrary steps to find them all. They should add more than just frogs too.
>for years now splitscreen Minecraft has player 2 stuck zoomed in
I know it's a PC/tablet game but fricking Christ it's been years since this bug first occurre. I'm willing to bet more than half of all Minecraft installs are on console, and a majority of those installs are played in splitscreen
Frick Microsoft, I at least expected it to work properly on Xbox but it's just as fricked there as it is on PlayStation
>I'm willing to bet more than half of all Minecraft installs are on console, and a majority of those installs are played in splitscreen
This is your brain on cope
Every mob vote: >"Here's mob 1, it'll add a new type of dirt block!" >"Mob 2 only appears in this rare biome and will give you a flower if you find it!" >"Mob 3 is a fricking pet dragon that gives you Dragon Armor and the Sword of the Ancients!"
the armadillo is the useless one, nice try shill
>armadillo dog armor
What were they thinking ? These useless ass dogs will still die in one creeper explosion or just by falling into lava. The armor would have to be extremely overpowered to matter at all
Also why do the crabs spawn un mangrove ? Put them on the beach wtf
But how does it taste?
Mud crabs are a thing bruvnor
Filthy creatures, mudcrabs
has anyone ever actually took their dog out of their base? i always keep them in because they will die to the first hostile mob that appears, or even just gravity
once i get a dog or a cat, i rarely take them with me, for obvious reasons, like going mining and stuff etc. iron golems are good for home defense, but an AR-15 from a gun mod is better.
I breed them and keep at least one with me, when one dies I breed a new one, good way to frick over sk*letons
they are good for regular mob fights, problem is their AI is to moronic to avoid risks along with creeper explosions, the dog armor would in theory aleviate, at the very least make your dogs look cool, but it won't solve the core issue of moronic AI
nope
dogs and cats have a habit of doing moronic shit like getting stuck in a 1x1 pit or jumping into a fricking ravine or lava
ill breed a hundred and bring them in a cave with me and end up walking out with 2 or 4
with wolves i either sit them in my base as decorations or breed hundreds using nothing but zombie flesh and use them as disposable soldiers
Honestly I can't be bothered having a pet in the first place.
>armadillo dog armor
is that a thing?
Can't you keep your doggos away from lava at least.
They're literally all useless. Ever since the fricking bee.
polar bears
Honey and honeycombs are decently useful, and you can't have those without bees. I don't know where the idea of bees as the archetypal "useless mob" comes from, that title goes to polar bears.
No, I meant everything after the bee, as in it was the last useful one.
>polar bears
>useful
lol
lmao
no moron he's saying that polar bears are absolutely fricking useless and was added WAY before bees
What happened to the Jellyfish and that other one? Were they fake?
I'm glad they catered to the two eskimo children playing minecraft so they don't become suicidal polar bear hunters
They don't follow you or do tamed cat commands like sitting.
>fireflies
They fricking showed it in Minecraft during the Minecraft Live
https://www.youtube.com/live/w6zLprHHZOk?si=xO_DnJkr3eA3vu5F&t=7535
>sea turtles drop scutes for some shitty potion and a iron-tier helmet
>need 5 scutes to make helmet
>sea turtles only drop scutes when growing up from babies to adults
>if you have them in the wild the scutes are bound to be lost
>build an enclosure (with an optional collection area) to minimize scute loss
>grown turtles are now useless and will not produce scutes
>turtles overcrowd the enclosure
>since all you need is 2 turtles for a handful of eggs you can get rid of the other turtles
>massacre all but 2 sea turtles
>repeat if you want more scutes for more helmets
Mojang saved the environment and animal rights yet again! Thanks Mojang!
I'm voting for that fricking armadillo and there is NOTHING you can do about it
Why did mojang add another endangered animal to the game with loot
Guise im literally shaking rn kids will go out and kill em
>any of them
>useful
It's not useless you can make chinese medicine with it
That's a pangolin. Which isn't even related to an Armadillo other than being a mammal.
Anon is just trying to send more lepers to the darkest dungeon.
THEY LOOK THE FRICKING SAME
I will say for once they seem to be giving them a feature with some use that isn't a giga niche gimmick, to bad they still insist on these moronic mob votes instead of adding them all in at once
Why do they keep adding garbage that has nothing to do with
>adventure
>farming
>creative
>redstone
last update it was the unnecessary and boring copper ore and now it's this?
Has mojang given up on minecraft?
theyre adding effortless cheap bloat just as an excuse for people not to say theyve abandoned the game
minecraft has been running like complete shit since 1.9, the content theyve added ever since this version to this day can be condensed into 2 or 3 actual updates
thats corporate for you
they sit around doing fricking nothing until 2 days before a deadline, then shit out low effort trash to keep their bosses off their ass
they dont have to worry about sales numbers anymore, everyone that wants to play minecraft already bought it 10 years ago
>minecraft mods add tons of shit over the years, entire overhauls and brand new mechanic systems
>all modern mojang does is add stupid bullshit creatures that have no purpose, drop nothing and aren't even worth the air block they occupy
>or they add features actively detrimental to the experience of mining and crafting
copper is easily the #1 most pointless mineable object in minecraft all it does is take up cave gen I'd rather have stone wall than copper veins
>Still giving a shit about Minecraft after the censorship shitshow
They need to justify collecting their paycheck while the modders work for them for free.
https://www.reddit.com/r/MinecraftLeaks/comments/16zxcrx/mclive_2023/
Leaks?
Probably fake, adds too much for it to be a mojang update
That's not even remotely believable
Horseshit through and through.
bro a 10 year old kid made this and you fell for it
fake as frick, also reddit.
all the "concept art" in that pdf is AI generated. lmao. OP, there's no way you can possibly be this moronic.
Please have a nice day before self advertising this inane horseshit
this is the kind of shit that tricked 12 year olds 10 years ago anon.
Fake as frick, but even then this would just be another case of an amazing-sounding update ending up nothing but missed potential.
faker than my gf's breasts
Extremely bad fake
>concept art is AI and doesn't even slightly resemble official art
>proportions of the new mob models are way off
>color choices for the alt. witches are poor, would easily confuse colorblind users (given that one of the devs is colorblind, this is something they always take into account)
>new textures are genuinely terrible and don't even slightly match the pixel artist's style
>trying to pass this off as internal documents yet includes comicially over-the-top quotes such as "something with the portal!?"
You would legitimately have to be 12 to believe any of this, it's laughably bad.
both are shit sofar
but the crab is somehow a more common animal than an armoredildo, so id say it fits better in the game
You should stop playing and caring about vanilla, Alex's Caves releases in two weeks.
REWORK THE FOOD SYSTEM ALREADY FOR FRICKS SAKE
WHY DO BASIC INGREDIENTS YOU CAN GET ON THE FIRST DAY WITH NO EFFORT HEAL MORE THAN ACTUAL RECIPES
WHAT THE FRICK
>still playing Minecraft in the year of our lord 2023
why, which one of your parents left you when you were little?
36 here, I played it for the first time last week.
Apparently they will dance, so I'm catching a few for sure to put in my music room next to my parrots. And the crab will win because of the crab rave meme
>OH MY HECKIN SCIENCE! ITS JUST LIKE THE DANCING CRAB MEME! SO WHOLESOME BIG CHINGUS KEANU 42069!
I miss Notch so much bros
Notch also did lame shit like naming them Endermen because of le Slenderman even though the community at large wanted them to be called Farlanders, and he even ignored the vote where Farlanders won.
Slenderman was soulful. Mojang just wants to appeal to Redditors and brain dead Zoomers to get hype and talking and memes.
Notch most certainly is a Chud.
Slenderman IS for reddit and braindead zoomers moron
>Slenderman was soulful
For like all of the two minutes before he blew up with normalgays and became the very first zoomer creepypasta meme.
Slenderman was never soulful
t. caught on to marblehornets within the first 4 episodes because of a friend. I endlessly bullied him for liking that shit and just rolled my eyes when it went viral and he acted smug.
He was right, the masses should never be fed. Game designers know best and pandering killed countless series.
How would you know?
Farlander is a cringe name, and he obviously already had the idea for the end at the time. Not only that, but Slenderman was actually popular at the time, rather than being popular 5 years ago.
Nah people liked the name because of the strange "farlands" at the edge of the then world generation that isn't the case anymore.
Notch always seemed to hate all of that like it exposes his algorithm or something even if he donated 10000$ to a guy for making it there with ingame means.
completely different game with some overlaps frick off consolewartard.
Wouldn't make sense from them to be from the farlands if the end exists though
Based, the community deserves and secretly loves the b***h treatment
Farlander is a terrible name.
You need to remember that the Far Lands were big back then.
but it implies distance!
it makes it feel alien!
get it!? they aren't from here! its from the lands far away!
enderman is too abstract it should have been something relateable, like something from far away! a farlander if you will!
He was right to do so, see community voting to add phantoms
>and he even ignored the vote where Farlanders won
Knowing nothing about this, it was probably some vote some redditors made without his know or care about the matter and unless you can prove me otherwise, I'll believe that
pretty much.
Enderman is a shit meme name, and newbies probably don't remember that they were absolutely loathed on release for their original overpowered lifting. The entire 1.0 update was completely mediocre, and didn't become worthwhile until years later.
>Minecraft wasn't always full of memes
Also Notch probably knows more about science than 5 of you chud.
no they won't, get off reddit homosexual
>the crab has to win
EVERY TIME WITH THESE SHITTY FRICKING POLLS
I don't know what that is I just play 1.8 on my pirated minecraft
minecraft is dead
but these motherfrickers should really just add plants and mobs and shit that actually makes the biomes feel alive
For a 12 year old game this shit is still more than overtly alive man. You've just got over it.
the players might be there but the soul of minecraft is gone
its a locked down homosexual version of what it used to be
sure you can mod it but you can never justify a game banning you from playing singleplayer for writing "frick" in the chat
More wholesome animals! Add all of them? Hmm, no, frick you.
My vote is going to whatever mob I feel is more fun or interesting gameplay-wise, frick "usefulness".
>it eats the bugs
no they took that out
>Mo Creatures mod comes out 12 years ago
>adds 30 new mobs with their own drops, mechanics etc
>its the most popular or 2nd most popular mod of the time
>Mojang hires the modder
>he's not allowed to update his mod anymore
>spends 10 years adding 1 of his old mod's mobs one at a time every 2 years
>they're not even as good as they were in the original mod
>>he's not allowed to update his mod anymore
huh? how is this legal?
contracts
I get NDAs and not using proprietary code in your mod, but can Mojang seriously dictate what their employees are allowed to do in their free time?
Everyone has a price and big companies are more than willing to pay.
yep
they hired him specifically to work on making mobs for Minecraft so it makes perfect sense that they'd put some convoluted "we own the rights to your mod and any minecraft content you make in your free time becomes property of the company".
its pretty common
yes? it's called a non-competing clause, and he'd be making something that directly competes
No he wouldn't, because mods aren't made for profit. Even then, he could code the thing and hand it off to someone else to actually publish it, plenty of rich fricks do this regularly to get around government regulations.
people in positions of power choose not to charge the perpetrators with a crime, that's how
oh, you think "law" is something defined and written out that applies to everyone equally? Was it comfortable under your rock all this time?
bring back the ridable scorpions I BEG
Sorry, but mojang is too afraid to do something like that, what if kids go out and actually try to ride real scorpions?
well it make sense, mods face far less scrutiny since it's free optional content. You can't do that in an official capacity without a lot of testing and seeing how well it works with the rest of the game and other ongoing internal work. For example the phantoms were so terrible it has its own toggle option.
homie they knew how the mobs worked already lmao
The mod was already made lol
Is the aether guy still able to make shit?
doubt it since other people are maintaining his mod now
wtf
Atleast he probably helped the nether update
>>adds 30 new mobs with their own drops, mechanics etc
Some of them were pretty useless, I remember mice just dropping seeds and that's it.
Lots of creature bloat.
But the fricking horse breeding mechanic and hostile mobs were wicked sick and justified the mod so much.
>Some of them were pretty uselesa
as compared to now?
the mobs not being useful was honestly not a big deal the only reason I used it was to actually populate the world and not have it be so sterile.
>billion dollar game
>here choose your yearly single mob
Please add more uses for copper thank you.
>another episode of modders getting another workload because mojang decided wolf armor is something the game really needs
armor for your pets has been something people wanted for ages, the real problem is another feature people wanted such as something that increase your block placing range is being left up to another fricking mob vote instead of all said features being added at once
Wolf armor seams quite useful since those things are supposed to get into combat, but are kinda shite against tougher enemies.
no amount of armor will save their moronic AI from sitting near creeper explosions, jumping off cliffs or into fire/lava
Not unless you can put enchantments on it. Would make wolfs more viable if you can put blast protection or fire protection on them.
i dont understand why microsoft lets mojang get away with doing literally the minimum amount of work on minecraft
look at fricking terraria and how huge their updates are, imagine if every minecraft update was that big and where we would be at
>b-but
but nothing, minecraft is the best selling video game of all time and is backed by one of the biggest fricking companies in the world
they have 0 excuses for getting btfo by a bunch of indie devs
>Do minuscule amount of work
>Get maximum amount of money
Why would they care to do any more?
>no nether fortress overhaul
>no end-stronghold overhaul
>no volcano biome
>copper is still useless
>archaeology is shit
>no old abondoned or now useless feature overhaul
Why are minecarts still so shit?
>>no volcano biome
I've wanted this for so long, imagine a burnt tree wood type, would be kino
I wish they'd put remove phantoms in a mob vote
Wow you can put armor on the wholesome doggos. That's going be cool for about 10 seconds until you just park them in your base forever like before.
>point out how mojang and microsoft have the resources to add all three AND THEN SOME
>minecraft fan comes out of left field, two fists already stacked on top of each other with their mouth agape
>OMGG, SERIOUSLY? YOU SHOULD BE THANKFUL WE'RE GETTING ANYTHI- GLUCK GLUCK GLUCK
>L-LIKE...
TL;DR: pirate Minecraft
Reject israeliterosoft craft
Embrace Vintage Story.
does this let me build some kind of village that won't be a make-believe ghost town? is the building even good in the first place?
China.
No, that's Hytale.
bring it to steam first and then we'll talk
wont be
>Claw extends the range at which you can place blocks
idk man, sounds pretty useful, means you can place more blocks in one area
>gives you an extra block worth of reach
>t-thanks
Do we know how much the range is? I'd expect a bit more than one block
Curb your expectations m8, this is mojang we're talking about
Hopefully block reach becomes a player attribute so you can get as much reach as you want using commands
>Mojang adds new passive mob
>It's an endangered animal in real life
>Make it more useless bloat because they don't want children to go on and stomp a turtle in real life
Why do they keep doing this
>you dont understand, we CANT add sharks because then kids might go out and kill them irl!!!
>we can't add sharks, they have to be fantasy creatures
>you can't mix potions, that would be unrealistic
You'll get "enpowering" Mud blocks, like anyone living a in mudhut has the means or the time to play mineycrafta and like it! Think of the poor devs!
>stompin' turts
Are you all underage?
It's just an ad to generate interest in the game to boost sales while no having to actually develop anything complex or interesting so they can focus development on chinese minecraft and microtransactions
I cant wait for China to just outright ban all forms of video game
That would unironically make gamers rise up
At this point the most fun you can have with minecraft is trying to gaslight the devs into removing features for mobs "in case a kid does one thing or another".
>Villages everywhere make surviving the first night way too easy
>Ruined Nether portals everywhere ruin the immersion of the game and it's a lazy way to teach players how to build a portal
>Random Pillager spawns also ruin the immersion of the game
>Phantoms suck and won't get changed because "i-it's a punishment for not voting wisely!"
>Fletching tables STILL don't have a use
>Rather than improving or expanding minecarts, they decide to add elytra to render them obsolete
>Same for Enchanting tables when Villagers make enchanted books more easily available
>Mending makes Anvil repairing a joke with the absurd costs
>Boring biomes like Birch forests spammed everywhere making exploring more of a chore
>Copper is useless when they could've made something simple with them like Copper pipes
>Swamps were promised an update but they still are the same with Mangrove being just a variation
>Polar Bears and Pandas are useless
>Archeology is barebones and only exists as decoration
>Sniffer is useless too except it's even worse because Mojang said they won't update it and its plants to be more than just decorations
>Armor trims are useless and only exist to waste resources
>Mojang claims they won't add certain animals like Sharks and Crocodiles because killing them is "too unethical!"
>Promise features but never deliver on them for shitty reasons (Ridable dragons, Birch forest update, Bundles, Combat update, etc.)
>Mob votes feel like they are added out of spite because once they're in the game, Mojang won't bother updating them or making them more useful/less egregious
>Everything about the new online moderation system is ass
Are they aware polar bears are much more endangered than even the most reclining shark species?
Actuall wtf
Pretty sure jeb admitted at one point that he only added polar bears because his wife thought they were cute. He's no doubt well aware how contradictory it is to have added them
He added them (and Pandas, Sea Turtles, and Coral Reefs) for "global warming" environmental propaganda.
>Polar Bears are dying cuz the ice caps are melting!!
>Pandas are dying out! (Also China, please support our game.)
>Please do our tedious and unrewarding task of protecting baby sea turtles! There's no way you could get turtle shells or scutes without saving the sea turtles!
>The Coral Reefs are getting bleached! If you place these unique and colorful blocks out of water they turn grey and useless!
I'm all for more useless mobs to fill the world but uh, they should have been added a decade ago. Have they added birds yet?
We have parrots along with chickens
Vultures were in one of the mob votes but lost
It's amazing they still don't have birds that fly around and populate the trees and sky, adds a lot to a games atmosphere.
>that one old mod from 2014 that made it so trees grew naturally, and dropped saplings on their own which grew into more trees
>that satisfying feeling of planting 2-3 saplings, coming back 6 hours later and seeing a small forest growing
Vultures are fricking awesome wtf. Which mob beat them?
Foxes. The other votes never had a chance.
jesus christ these fricking homosexuals.
wow more mobs that nothing.
atleast these aren't just reskins of existing mobs this time
give me one valid reason why they cant add all 3 mobs
There's no valid reason. One mob will be added and the other two will be put in Mojang's trash bin of ideas forever.
and some modder doing it for free is probably going to backport all 3 to the previous couple of versions of the game
Uuuuuuuuuuuhhhhh... ever heard of... player engagement?????
and clearly if the second place mob gets 40% of votes, it should still be thrown in the trash bc people dont want it enough
The fact we are talking about it ITT right now proves how effective this marketing trick is.
>vote for one of these three mobs, all of them have the sole purpose to drop an item that you can use to access a feature that mods have allowed players to do for years, possibly a decade or longer at this point
minecraft should've just stopped development in 1.7.10
I have a question for you all, why complain if you most likely don't even play the game anymore, or the latest versions of the game?
What's the feature?
>extended block placement range (crab claw)
>wolf/pet armour (armadillo)
>a third, yet unnamed mob that hasn't been revealed yet
Why would a crab claw help you reach farther
It's tiny
It's a crab
Is that what the crab does? I guess I'd be happy with that too but I'm still voting armadillo
Any link to the mob vote? The launcher doesn't have one.
>finite water mod discontinued
>enviromine (tunnels collapse unless you build supports, low oxygen in tunnels unless you put leaves down etc) discontinued
>gasses mod discontinued
>mods are split across 2 platforms now that are incompatible with each other
>vanilla minecraft has added literally nothing for well over 8 years at this point
>villages and testificates still fricking useless and completely mogged by Millenaire or MineColonies
and the morons wonder why everyone still plays 1.7.10 or older
>mods are split across 2 platforms now that are incompatible with each other
Sasuga, anon.
https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/forgified-fabric-api
>need to mod your mods so you can use your mods just so you can do what you couldve done easier 10 years ago
wait so does this let you run fabric mods with Forge because reading the page, doesn't seem as simple as throwing fabric mods in the forge folder.
>mods are split across 2 platforms now that are incompatible with each other
Actually, it's soon to be 4
>NeoForge
>Forge
>Fabric
>Quilt
>gets sprayed in the face
>Falls down
WTF anon...
Watch where you open that shit
>all those autistic boring mods
anon please never develope any games
forge is way worse but modders are too lazy too learn fabric
Forge's devs are also legitimate troglodytes who attempt to push out new contributors, just like Optigay.
>mods are split across 2 platforms now

i used to have fun with minecraft online and offline around time it came out. which version do i pirate to have fun again? offline
>admitting you play Minecraft at all under any circumstances
bruh moment
It's not useless because I fricking love crabs
why didn't anyone tell me how great it is riding a horse. i climbed a mountain today and got 58 iron.
You are voting for him, right Ganker? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mDngl11P3k&ab_channel=HeavyCrab
undrerrated
The real joke is 16% think they are the good vote but Magma Mage is actually a real menace that makes it impossible to have any structure around Lava
Right, forgot about that. Still fricking hate how some streamers can just control the vote that much.
No, because I voted for both the copper golem and the glow squid. The glow squid was up against really weak competition
I love those saves that are collections of creative mode shenanigans
In 2010 Notch and his small team added:
- Infinite terrain generation
- Buckets
- Signs
- Doors
- Falling blocks
- Minecarts
- Dungeons
- Pig riding
- Compass
In 2023 Mojang has added:
- Some new wood types
- Camels and Sniffers
- Archeology system nobody has ever used
- Fishing
- Paintings
- Chicken Farming
- The Nether
Is this like a randomized selection? Also I'm sure Many of that still was added under Notch
What were the third?
Crab, armadillo, and the other?
It will be shown tomorrow.
why do people get so defensive when you call mojang lazy?
what happened to the companies are not your friend stance?
[brand] makes [product] that make brain go numb because NPC brains are wired so shittily that they think "buying product = dopamine"
it's a step lower than parasocialism, because at least parasocialism is just you trying to get another person's attention for a vague chance at social satisfaction
The whole thread is shitting on them what are you smoking?
>B-but on X website
Then ask them
Companies are their friends against the people now
Literal autism it's a childrens game of building blocks, you can bet any weird parasocial homosexual on reddit twitter or a discord is going to be a legit "dedidated wam" autty
Can I get a good modpack recommendation? Doesn't have to be anything specific, just whatever you like and or enjoyed a lot.
This is the most moronic shit I've ever heard
>sharks are being killed because they're misunderstood!
>also, uh we cant add sharks because we dont want kids going near them and uhhh, the sharks will like... yknow.......
Unironically what the actual frick is up with so much of their "WE CAN'T DO THIS BECAUSE THE ANIMAL IS DANGEROUS OR ENDANGERED" shit? I can't think of a single other video game company that acts like this.
its most likely a very poor excuse they came up with so they can be extremely lazy
it's ESGcore code for "if we did this microsoft would lose money from blackrock" so they don't
I don't think even Blackrock gives a shit about players killing sharks, and Microsoft needs no loans anyway. It's pure laziness.
Again, Jeb just hates sharks and Gura, frick him disingenuous c**tbeardhomosexual.
>holobrony
Jeb is an absolute idiot who does not know what to do with the content he somehow inherited, the whole thing is incomprehensible to him so he just adds cute reddit animals from time to time to get the paycheck. The only reason it works for him is because the jeets and coked up MBAs at microsoft are even more clueless than he is, he would not last a single day in a real videogame studio.
>the reason they're endangered is because they're misunderstood
no the reason they're endangered is cuz the fricking chinese catch them, cut off the fin and throw away the rest of the fricking shark
>le "THEY'RE ENDANGERED" excuse again
lol, lmao
Do these morons think a whole generation of children will grow up to go hunting sharks for fin soup?
there's half a dozen endangered animals already in the game
>helen
it's always the fricking diversity hires
Someone tell them that there's certain kinds of armadillos that are endangered so they can't be in the game either. We don't want kids trying to kill armadillos thinking they can make armor for their dogs.
Why do you rhino you'll have to kill the armadillo to get stuff? Its going to be exactly like the turtle where you need to breed or wait for it to drop. Killing will drop nothing.
Even goats dont drop their horns
>don’t make mobs drop items on death
>making hunting animals for materials impossible
>goats only drop horns after ramming into something and they don’t grow back
>sea turtles only drop scute when growing up from baby to adult and are useless afterwards
>if you have a pen for these animals they eventually overcrowd
>make having a breeding factory where you have to constantly kill and renew the creatures the only way
but then they add armadillos (endangered) and encourage you to stomp them for heckin cute doggy clothes
what a crock of shit
>nooooo not the heccin' sharkos!
>adds polar bears
>adds pandas
>adds box turtles
>adds rare crab
>adds armadillos
>pandas
added for the chinks and stolen from chink edition which also has content you'll never see on global, including a new dimension and 4 new bosses
what?
There's a version of Minecraft exclusively accessible through mainland Chinese IPs and NetEase accounts that is monitored by and administered by the CCP through NetEase. Some features include a brand new dimension ("the Apocalypse Realm") with its own exclusive achievements, items, biomes, mobs, and four new bosses to fight. This was originally a mod for China Edition that was adopted (read: stolen) by NetEase. Pandas were made exclusively for a China Edition vote, but were added to global to pad out 1.14.
Aw I hoped it was a mythical east Asia dimension or something
>mommy mommy look a shark! they're friendly because minecraft told me so!
>alright timmy, go on and play with the shark!
this is unironically what mojang believes will happen
>we don't want to encourage people to get close to sharks because it's dangerous
>we do want to encourage people to jump from lethal heights into 1 meter of water
what happened with cookies and parrots?
you used to be able to feed cookies to parrots until Mojang changed it because chocolate is toxic to birds
you use cocoa beans to make cookies in game, and they're toxic to birds, but the original breeding item for parrots was cookies. so a bunch of fans messaged mojang about this with shit like "what if a kid feeds his parrot a cookie irl after doing it in game and kills it!"
>they're toxic
i will never forgive them for culling fireflies from the update because muh toxic to froggy
they could've just made the frogs not eat them, but im pretty sure the real reason was they caused some lag issue with console bedrock versions
And there we have the real culprit for ruining this game, not pointless updates (aside from copper being a pest) it's the console version.
sounds like a bullshit reason tbh.
the spore blossom is far worse, and they literally just added cherry blossoms too for particle visuals.
it would essentially be that but only showing up at night in swamps. i guess you probably could've click them with a bottle to make a lantern of sorts too
Twilight Forest did it better by making them placeable items with a light source or mixing them with empty bottles.
Under Notch or someone else, any idea could be played with and if it worked, it'd get added.
>sweet a crab the beach biome is really boring
>it's a fricking swamp mob
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA MOJANG MAKE BEACHES NOT FRICKING BORING PLEASE
add sex
i wanna see my character get sucked off
>sweet a crab the beach biome is really boring
>STILL no palm trees on beaches/deserted islands
Why is Mojang like this??
The entire game design of Minecraft is entirely fricked.
There still isn't a good diamond sink. Despite how valuable diamond is, once you get the armor and tools, it's fricking useless.
I'm surprised there isn't a 4hr long essay video by some nerd deconstructing how flawed it is.
I can personally go on forever on how bad it actually is and how much is missing. And the worse part is that it's still a fun sandbox, Mojang are just lazy fricks and are intentionally dripfeeding content.
i had a massive notes file about the game but you could probably make one if you wanted to, but we're not that autistic i guess.
Massive notes, like your own manifesto about Minecraft's issues?
What were some points you remember?
world generation got ruined at some point, places of interest are too hard to reach, mobs of interest are too hard to find, like polar bears and goats and whatever new mobs they add, you have to travel really really really far from your base to actually find, the game relies more on adventure and exploration now rather than building and surviving, or surviving the night, so you are actively punished for making a base by putting most of the content nearly 5000 blocks away from you at all times. this may inspire you to create travel systems like trains and stuff, but the biomes are just too far apart from eachother that it will take too long and is not worth it, not to mention that minecarts have been neglected for years and the addition of the elytra invalidates any and all other transportation systems once you obtain it, mending makes pretty much any tool unbreakable and invalidates unbreaking and mending items in the anvil, mobs are not at all a challenge even on hard mode, you can typically avoid them all together just by sleeping or running away from them, the warden does not look like he belongs in the game, the new stone types complicate the system and make ores look like garbage, the new textures suck, lena raine and new artists don't fit well with C418's tracks, the allay doesn't fit either, mojang keeps adding blocks and mobs that don't have much of an impact on your gameplay and as such are "useless", more wood types we didn't ask for, poorly implemented "mob votes" when they're so low effort why not just add all 3 (we would have so much more content tbh), the frickingt ravager i mean just look at it that is not a minecraft mob, world generation has too many oceans to the point where land feels like islands and not really like actual pieces of land sometimes, camels are just horses, the end fight is too easy, you can respawn in the nether now and there is even wood there too...
>polar bears
useless
>goats
useless
>adventure and exploration vs. building and surviving
minecraft has never been a survival game, it is exclusively a sandbox experience
>minecarts
dubious, you can still do moronspeed booster mechanisms if you know how
>elytra
should be removed
>mending
should be nerfed
>warden, skulk
remove entirely
>new stone types
unfrick their ore textures and go back to the old ore textures jesus christ
>C418
will be removed soon because microsoft refuses to let him continue publishing his tracks separate from minecraft to make a living because he's not even paid royalties
>allay
garbage from a scam vote abused by youtubers and their armies of children, like all mob votes
>blocks/mobs are useless
yeah
>wood types we didn't ask for
frick you Black person
>mob votes
see allay
>ravager
yeah
>camels are just horses
yeah
>beds explode in the nether/end
allahu akbar
>minecraft has never been a survival game, it is exclusively a sandbox experience
beds used to didnt exist so you were forced to survive the night
sprint didnt exist so you couldnt outrun mobs
brightness didnt exist so everything was pitch black if you didnt have any light sources
there was barely any health regeneration either, then food was added and ruined most of that.
as a 1.7.10 gay, i dont give a single frick about beta, however, these concerns expressed by beta players have made their mark on me as i agree that mobs were tougher in beta, there was actually some level of threat, compared to how there is none today.
minecraft for me is mostly a sandbox building game though, but playercounts on creative plot servers have drastically declined and people never seem to actually play creative mode anymore, its just seen as a developer tool.
regarding all my concerns, this makes Dont Starve and Dont Starve Together better survival games than the survival mode in Minecraft, with my only grievances of those games being that its not very sandboxy and you don't get a lot of time to do your own thing like make a base, instead you have to follow a strict routine.
Minecraft can be a survival game, building game, and adventure game at the same time
what about dolphins and turtles?
>turtle
turtle master is a fun gimmick potion and i like the turtle helmet's water breathing effect. tedious, but it has some genuine use
>dolphins
unironically useful for underwater builds/exploration because of the massive speed buff they give. i also appreciate that feeding them actually has them hunt down the nearest shipwreck/buried treasure/ocean ruin chest in the area.
continuing on, the nether is supposed to be a harsh and hostile environment, look at striders, what is that even, and zoglins, they ruined the zombie pigmen design, bastions are a great addition, so is nether gold (it fills a "lore" gap, explains why zomb pigmen have gold items), but they made it habitable for some reason, allowing you to respawn there, when before then, the only method of respawning would just have you explode, this was "intentional game design" that was supposed to imply you aren't allowed to respawn there and yet, they added that anyways. starving in this game is almost near impossible, there is food literally everywhere, oceans everywhere too so if you're starving just eat kelp, general performance downgrade and bloat over the years, terrain style and generation fricked up because moBlack person want massive mountains now. sculk and the deep dark should be its own dimension but instead its in the overworld, theres even a big portal for one so either they will add a sculk dimension or they wont and piss us off.
The most enjoyable moments I've had I can think of in MC is building mob/xp/villager farms, honestly.
>no vertical slabs, despite it being requested since forever
>overworld being the most overbloated dimension in the game by far, leaving the other two in the dust, specially the end
>the change of cats and ocelots being separate mobs made ocelots a fricking useless mob
>same for polar bears, wtf, why did they add them? they do nothing, and it's texture is horrible
>dog/wolf's being feels unfinished and unpolished. you should not be able to hit your dog while killing mobs
>diamond is such an iconic ore that they can't add a new more powerful ore without the players b***hing about diamonds becoming useless and unspecial
>there's a huge clash of mobs designs between old and modern, compare the frog's features and fluid animations to the basic af pigs and cows, whose only features are being food and having the same shitty animations from 10 years ago
and i could say more. i also personally believe the features added by notch back then doomed modern minecraft updates and balance as a whole, and the only way to fix it is by making a minecraft 2 at this point. potions should be obtained much further in the game as well as enchantments (this one would fit perfectly in a hipothetical sky/aether dimension), because of how easy it is to craft an enchanting table and brewing stand so early in the game and how stupidly easy the game becomes after that, i think they should be pushed further in the game's progression
that is, if minecraft EVER fricking gets progression
>vertical slabs
Suggestion is actually outright banned by name because they don't want to add them, because they "hamper creativity".
>diamond is such an iconic ore that they can't add a new more powerful ore without the players b***hing about diamonds becoming useless and unspecial
They sure ate up Netherite like crack rocks in the inner cities.
Mojang themselves are a hamper to creativity. Just add the damn slabs. They've got no problem adding thousands of other useless shit
dog/wolf's being tamable feels like an unfinished and unpolished mechanic*
Minecraft should reward exploration a lot more (through dungeons, monster Lairs etc.)
If bethesda could do it in daggerfall its insane that mojang cant
yeah the game has no actual progression system and i feel like mc could do better with a terraria-like class system and more enemies with scalable difficulties. you dont even need to add bosses, just make certain mobs in certain biomes harder than the others or have the game adapt to your progress in some way, like invasions or events that make you not want to skip the night or simply unable to do so, maybe shooting stars or comets that allow you to make wishes and stuff. a lot of what i have just said is in fan made mods but i dont play those mods because its made by a furry who uses discord who puts furry art into his game.
aside from enchanting experience points is also a wasted opportunity that could have been used for other things. instead of enchantments you could maybe use xp to increase damage on certain types of weapons, like bows or swords for example, make it so that you lose half of everything when you die or just everything when you die like in Unturned's skill system, lock off certain parts so if you choose to be a ranged player, you stay a ranged player or just deal with the fact that your bows are op but ur swords are not.
here's more, to add to my list
>the wither boss, who only has one attack (three if you count the initial explosion and the "second phase"'s block breaking) feeld unfinished when compared to the ender dragon, who has multiple phases and more attacks, and isn't as easily cheesable as the wither
>why ride a pig when you can ride a horse for a faster result and basically the price? (aka. a saddle)
>even worse, why ride a horse or build a minecraft track when you can use the elytra for the rest of the game?
>they removed cooper horns for literally no reason, when they were completely functional already and had better sounds and was a small but still nice feature for cooper ore, which lacks usefulness
>modern minecraft features only go a single way and inmediately stop, with no time to build upon them, for example:
>archeology, it can be used to dig a few materials and pot fragments. nothing else, and will probaly stay like this for another 10 years
>mangrove swamps, just a new wood type and mud, it really is the biome of all time. nothing else, and will stay like this for another 10 years or when the crab gets added instead of the other two
>they don't want to add them, because they "hamper creativity"
lmao
>they sure ate up netherite like crack rocks in the inner cities
and that's thanks to netherite being related to diamonds in the first place, and even then, some people still seethed over netherite being an upgrade to diamond for no reason
the best part about the end is that they removed snowballs damaging the ender dragon and endermen for no reason
Yes, but access to the nether is instant and available at any time. Any shitter can make a obsidian portal and go there.
then what was the point of all the deep dark patches? shit is more annoying to navigate than the end stuff
bridging in the end on consoles is easier too than pc crouching
I'm pretty sure that statistic is because the majority of minecraft players play minecraft online instead of single player. And in most servers, the end is disabled.
Minecraft should Go Full procedurally generated Dungeon exploration and survives
This shitty fricking updates add nothing to a game that has so much freedom and potential
everything microsoft has added to this game has been useless bloat
playing anything other than beta 1.7.3 should be punishable by castration
what's your favorite modpack?
i tried one (no idea which one it's been ages) but the people i played with just kept trolling each other so we never really did anything with it.
why are grown ass men crying about a game for autistic kids??
It didn't use to be for kids and that was 10 years ago
Those "men" are just the autistic kids grown up
Gregtech new horizons, come back home
Never once after playing Mario did I think "Oh I can just jump on turtles and kick their shells, it'll be fine". There are thousands of games with animals as enemies
How stupid does Mojang think people are?
Why don't they stop?
Meerkat
Oasis
Palm trees
Baobab trees
Termites
Ostriches
Vultures
Tumbleweed
Prickly Pear cactus
Moobloom
Iceologer
Glare
Copper Golem
Rascal
Tuff Golem
Crab
Armadillo
The actual winning mob, watch
All of this could have been added with each update they were introduced in. Even worse: The blaze boss got added in one of the spin-offs when it could have been a cool midlevel boss to fight in the Nether Fortresses.
>oasis
>palm trees
>tumbleweeds
They have literally no excuses to not add these, that's just sheer laziness on their part. All of these things, frankly, but these three in particular are just egregious.
I am still so fricking mad that palm trees don't exist in vanilla
Didn't the earlier versions have a shitload of beaches? Granted, they would spawn in deserts but with so many beaches in my vanilla world from 2016, you would think palms would be a regular addition, even if it's just for wood.
Plenty mods make them work easily, biomes are a seed thing not a block by block thing.
Thank god for mods, the funny shit is that it takes so little to implement many of these.
>1 guy adds 89 new mobs all with gameplay features in 3 years
>Mojang adds 3 useless creatures in the same time
Every day I hope they kill Java Edition so modders got a final version to work on and stop version chasing.
they look like they fit really well into the game in my opinion, i quite like that, shame its a 1.16 mod, i usually stick to 1.8.9 or 1.7.10, never liked the new combat update.
the one thing i forgot to mention, that fricking combat update, still hate it after all these years.
also forgot that stupid fricking child safety update and microBlack person controlling what you can and cant say online aswell as reporting skins and shit frick that frick the eula changes suck my dick
I wanna live in the dinosaur caves
what minecrap babbies dont get is that just adding random fricking animals doesn't actually add shit to the game it's just shitty fluff and bloat
Look at terraria. What does a new update add?
>new locations with new enemies to fight
>new items to gather and craft with
>new upgrades to existing items, new building materials
>most importantly a new zone to explore with a new boss
There is literally zero value to any update that isn't at the very least on the level of the update that added the nether realm, or the update that added the end. Everything else that has been added to minecraft so far has been absolute filler that adds very little to the game overall
>game has added little of real value in updates since release
>still feels bloated as frick
Crazy.
Reminder that Microsoft is to blame for Minecraft's stagnation, rigidness and minimal content updates, the April Fools builds are unironically the only time Mojang gets to have actual fun making anything for the game anymore.
pure unhinged voting
snibbedi snab :DD
why do people hate the combat update? i personally thought it made combat a lot more interesting-
While newer versions surely added alot of useless shit, as you can see in this thread, it doesn't actually even matter, OLD GOOD NEW BAD
What confuses me is that it seems like the combat update mechanics don't even seem to exist in the non-java version. Bedrock in general seems to just be worse in nearly every measurable way? The only thing I've found that you can do in bedrock that you can't do in java that isn't an outright feature removal is bonemealing sugar cane.
almost everything about bedrocks sucks dick
>floaty movement and shitty swimming
>can't disable vsync so looking around feels like shit
>redstone is straight up random
>doors waterlog, so sunken caves are impossible to make use of
>health restores so slowly from food + mobs have 10 miles of reach, you can't fight shit until you get potions because you WILL take damage
>you need a shovel to make a boat
>can't use 1-9 keys to move stuff to and from your hotbar
>can't disable animation of items moving, it's disorienting when you wanna do stuff fast
>offhand limited to shield and totems
>zombies can kill villagers through two blocks touching corners
>lava in the nether ignites random blocks so you can randomly catch fire while running and once again it takes 20 years for your health to regen, so you're best off sitting it out AFK in a 1x2x1 box
>no F3 screen so some important information is straight up unavailable in game
>UI scale limited to everything-is-too-big mode
>menus made for touchscreens that are cumbersome to navigate
>can't fix any of it because no mods
>can't play earlier versions
>microtransactions are of course the most prominent main menu button
all of this is from playing just a couple hours of bedrock edition, it's miserable
>1-9 keys to quickly move stuff
Holy frick. This is the first time in a decade that i see someone else who knows about it.
really? maybe the bedrock devs don't know it either
it's a great feature, you can swap equipment very quickly, reorganize your hotbar in a couple small mouse movements + pressing keys with your other hand, so of course it's gone from bedrock edition
>-
go back
kek
that was just me missing the key on accident. on (german) QWERTZ dash is next to dot.
who the frick plays minecraft for the fricking combat?
PvP gays are the worst
>minecraft PvP
wtf does that even entail? do you invade worlds or something?
There's servers that have PvP gamemodes.
>Datk spirit has inva-
>He doesn't know
i don't, but fighting mobs got slightly more interesting so it seems like a good update to me.
>dude you have to click every 2 seconds now instead of spamming
wow... so le deep and interesting....
>Minecraft after 2013
Deserved, minecraft """"""""""players"""""""""" are a fricking embarrasment
I don't see the issue with Elytra, it's an endgame item, it does fricking not replace the comfort of an elaborate minecart track system.
I'm getting tired of all these muh endangered mobs
Where has the fantasy gone? Why does it all need to be real animals now
Because Microsoft thinks that the current ensemble of fantasy mobs are all Minecraft needs now.
They did well with minecraft dungeons though, there's a lot of cool mobs there. Meanwhile the only mobs that are in the base game are pls help the endangered animalz 🙁 btw they will do nothing impactful in game srry :))
>soul wizard
>stuck in one of the most soulless cash grab of all time
rip
Having a pet summon like that to help kill mobs would be fun. Makes the game easier for kids too. Would be a useful summon and not some useless thing like axolotl who afk for 3 minutes after killing 1 enemy.
Microsoft's lazy asses could just reuse the vex/allay assets for it
They had fantasy mob votes for the last three years. Allays and Sniffers don't really drop anything so you aren't encouraged to kill them.
they haven't encouraged killing a mob for many years now. even the new crabs were shown shedding their claws without killing.
You're right. Last time a new mob actually dropped something new upon being killed was the fricking Glow Squid of all things.
I think you owe someone an apology, Ganker.
>midrarria
don't think so
>crab is boring outside extended reach, not even found in a real range of biomes
>if it wins, it's going to feel underwhelming
>if it loses, a really basic animal is going to either never be added or take YEARS to even be formally reannounced
YOU'VE GOTTA LET ME EAT THE CRAB
Thanks for the free advertising, friendo!
Go post in the slop spam threads moron, people are talking vydia here
>free advertising for a game that's sold 238m copies
jeb genuinely needs to be fired
>still playing vanilla post-1.7.10 minecraft
>In the Lord's Year of Two Thousand and Twenty Three
name ONE minecraft mod that isn't porn-based
Jenny mod
I didn't migrate my mojang account to microsoft and I can't log in now, is my minecraft gone now?
pls respond
why don't you try searching it up. there's another window to migrate until december 2023.
No there isn't, you fricking swarthoid pissgargler.
brother I have, so far as reddit, I don't see any methods to migrate or recover the account now?
When did it go wrong
it never went wrong anywhere as it's literally still more or less the same as the beta build with some added fluff
If it went wrong anywhere it's that it never went anywhere
Beta
>Constant updates before 2014
>2014 suddenly goes dry, ends with getting bought by microsoft
>2015 is completely blank
>Everything after that is staggered out and just random little features that barely change the game, despite there being dozens of features and overhauls players have been requesting since the late beta days
Looks like 2014 to me.
I joined in 2011 in 1.4b so IDK how the game was before then
>great
>great
>great (i have no problem with hunger, at worst it's something you just ignore within the first 2 hours of a playthrough)
>good
>great up to 1.7 which irreparably fricked worldgen, literally the worst single change to the game
>alright, monuments are kind of just there
>greatest year since 2010
>great, end cities and mansions are fantastic
>2015 part 2
>good
>village overhaul good, bees pointless
>nether overhaul is the best update in a decade
>an entire year of fricking up worldgen even harder
>expanding on fricked up worldgen and making caves more annoying
Also I'm not sure which update made all caves under bodies of water (namely oceans) flooded but whoever proposed that should be fricking crucified, resuscitated and then hung and shot before having their body thrown in an old septic tank and buried in Death Valley. You basically aren't allowed to have an island base after that update or you'll have to go straight down and dig in a straight line until you hit a proper continent to actually go caving. 1.7 worldgen is awful as a whole update but that change is the single worst one in the game's history.
I was with you until you shit on the 1.18 worldgen, which is the best worldgen has been in a long long time.
1.8 was the beginning of the end
1.1
1.0 is where the game should've been completed
1.8 probably
I think everything after 1.5 was pretty mediocre, I stopped playing around 1.8 and would only come back every once and a while to play modded. Everything post 1.9 feels like its really new and recent even though its 7 years old for 1.10 and 1.11
>t. either started in b1.8 or 1.0, don't remember which
Notch bailing out
I started in beta 1.7.3, so everything after that
>all these morons complaining about "bad" updates
It's impossible to add good updates to a sandbox game.
People are disappointed because it was not originally meant to be a sandbox game, that's just what it ended up being because it appeals to the biggest market there is, children
Well it WAS a sandbox before the introduction of survival
notch planned to add actual content a la hell and the end, just more fleshed out and more of it. The whole sandbox thing was more or less just because the game was (and really, is) severely unfinished
Huh? What was it then? A survival game? It fricking started as simple block builder ala infiny miner.
What would they even add? To make it a better sandbox
>Spend hours looking for a desert on a server for cactus and rabbits
>Travel across oceans that take 10 minutes to boat across
>Only to find another god damn fricking birch forest on the other side
The terrain generation really is so bad with this "warm and cold" biome shit. It sounds good on paper but in reality theres literally no change in scenery for thousands of chunks and it's a 50/50 chance it just turns back into the temperature you were already at
Add a bunch of trees. A tree for each color and some other cool trees if they want to push awareness on endangered species like the dendrology mod did back in the day.
Endangered species for plants/trees would be cool
>Find a rare tree in the wild
>Bring back some saplings to cultivate and regrow the population
>The blocks actually look different for building
Would be a change from a useless "look cute" endangered mob. It both covers the endangered awareness while adding blocks people are happy with
>Painterly Pack textures
take me back
Arbitrary bullshit, tell me how you got to the nether without a diamond pickaxe, how can you sandbox yourself a diamond pickaxe with getting an iron pickaxe first?
bucket
>*is made completely obsolete by elytra which makes Minecraft streamer mode*
>*is never used for anything other than redstone contraptions or farms*
Don't forget recreating Auschwitz.
They just release new "updates" to make it look like the game isn't finished, a.k.a. dead. What they really care about is the IP that they want to profit on by releasing spinoffs like dungeons and story mode, though by the looks of it, all spinoffs seem to sell jack shit.
And those spin-offs add animals and fantastical shit that the main game needs. At least if they're doing RPG shit, they could commit to it fully.
The beetle specifically I'd like to add to the game.
Minetest is gonna be the future when they can make unlimited world size.
>hey guys here's 3 shitty new mobs
>please choose 1
>we'll add it and then nuke the other two out of existence. no it doesn't matter if they were actually good ideas deal with it we can't spend any more time working are you crazy
Good to know some things never change.
>Biome votes
>"We'll add the other 2 biomes at a later date"
>This was back in 2018
>Still no desert and savanna update
>Still no swamp and badlands from the 2019 vote
Now why can't they just port pic related in the main game? They know what people want. They fricking know.
KWAB.
>Add real life animals because you're trying to make the game realistic and want to teach kids that they shouldn't mess with those animals
>Still let the player kill the animals anyway
Why doesn't Mojang try anymore? When is Notch making another game?
>Make animal mobs to discourage people from hurting animals
>Their only usages arise when you viciously maim them
Bravo...
Mojang might as well be the GameFreak of western devs for incompetency alone.
unless you make them completely useless, like the sniffer
And it's not like they have to make a new game from scratch every year. They are already building on top of an old game.
>WAHHH they didn't add Geno from super Mario RPG
Cry more.
Always blame Jeb, its morally right to do so
These aren't bad rules
The real problem is that Mojang takes two whole fricking years to add one new useless animal, a new block type, two redstone components and if they're feeling generous maybe one new shitty pre-generated structure
Then call you entitled with their "well not every update needs to be incredible" spiel even though even GameFreak of all companies manages to shit out more content than them at the same rate
>image
That's all nice and maybe even true. Only problem is you're only supposed to work towards "atmosphere and charm" once you have an interesting game. The most bizarre feature creep.
This is fine
This is dumb
Meanwhile....
This one is fake. It was made up for a YouTube video, though I myself agree with the philosophy expoused.
12:38
I don't know about the truthfulness of these ones though, did the book ever get properly leaked?
YOU WILL NOT KILL THE CRAB
What about water-monsters that look like fish or a kraken?
>We can't add sharks because children might try to ride them irl!
>Oh but we should teach them that wolves and bears are always friendly as long as you don't hurt them 🙂
No, armadillo is going to win because omg le heckin doggo armour
I love how once again Mojang manages to make morons fight each other over some micro features any other dev team would be able to implement in a single day
I'm still on 1.12.2 with a modpack with 320 mods, and I'm at like tier 1 of the questbook out of 5 tiers
I've given up on nu-versions long ago
Why did Microsoft buy this game for billions of dollars if they were going to abandon its development like that ?
it makes money by just existing, then they do a ton of marketing and make it super popular. rember, microsoft didn't buy them after they became the best selling game of all time - they were responsible for it selling that much with all their advertising power. probably a few hundred mils in with advertising, and they get billions out of it
Microsoft probably won't step in until Mojang starts losing money and players stop defending their shitty business practices. The unfortunate fact is that this stupid poll shit fricking works and does wonders for marketing.
Because Minecraft the game is useless, everyone owns it
What people can buy is all the spinoff shovelware and merchandise instead
So what's this one, nonbinary? Transracial Black person? What is it this time?
That's a crab, ma'am.
Didn't stop the wokies from calling the bee trans
excuse me?
>Gankertard too moronic to google
>/pol/tard barges in, talks about trans bees and doesn't show a screencap so we can have a laugh together
it's just rude mate.
Is this /misc/ in the room with us right now?
You called me Gankertard like you don't belong.
Man it was a shitty joke because the hat is trans and other harry potter crap was popular
Is that a SoniCrab?
>they havnt touched mob spawners since 2013
Damn!
>Game is really popular for a while
>Game becomes cringe shit for BABIES
>Pewdiepie starts playing and it becomes one of the biggest games ever again
>Game is now looping back to being cringe dog shit
Its pretty cool to witness this happen in real time
>Everything they add takes away from the product
Bravo Microshit.
>Have Suspicious and Rabbit Stew
>No Beef/Pork/Chicken Stew
>Have Milk
>No Cheese
>Have Crab
>Will not have Crab Stew/Crab Rangoons.
>Will not have Crab Stew/Crab Rangoons
It will probably be Crab Cakes then.
dont get your hopes up there will no food at all because we wont be allowed to kill the mob
it will shed its claw or some nonsence and killing it will drop nothing
Why do Mojang care about being educational and egalitarian now? Is this because of government funding or something?
>add a mob to your survival game
>discourage player from killing it because MUH ENDANGERED SPECIES
there is no minecraft versions past 1.7.10.
>let's you place blocks further away
This is extremely good even if it's just 1 extra block but unless this has durability you are going to get 1 crab claw and never interact with crabs ever again
Can they stopped being creatively bankrupt as decade old mods is better content than their current shit?
>make a minecraft clone
>do it better
>swoop in to become the Zoom to their Skype
Microsoft is shit, take advantage of it.
You mean Hytale
You guys are dumb. Crab and Armadillo will be more useful than whatever the 3rd mob is by miles, and the Youtubers will make all their fanbases vote for the third option because "WON'T IT BE REAL FUNNY TO HAVE THIS COMPLETELY USELESS MOB THAT DOES NOTHING LIKE A TON OF THE OTHER MOBS LOL" or because Mojang bribes them to rig it.
why cant mojang just cancel mob votes entirely and add all of the 3 mobs straight in. are they that lazy??
>playing minecraft in your 20s
Holy shit.
Guys they're a small indie company
So will they show the next mob today or next week?
The Penguin will be shown off today
1 hour to go.
Boring. Crab fricking wins by a landslide. See you in 2024.
told you gays
So the crab wins, then.
>People will vote for the armadillo because muh doggy armor
mojang wants the crab to win, update isn't exactly "beach" themed but palm trees are featured. You'll see soon.
I'll admit, its a copper golem/allay case, the people aren't going to vote for the crab, it simply isn't useful nor cute for the casuals.
The penguin is literally out of question though, just like that moronic previous mob vote where his only function was to show how bright the cave was
>palm trees
Alright, you know something. Squeal.
daddy microsoft pls no I don't want the hose again
HAHAHAHHAHA
>Crab claw of extended reach
>Armadillo for dog armor
>Penguin for..... BOAT SPEED
I swear they make moronic options as a way to purposefully rig those. Its so obvious the Armadillo is going to win, just like the Allay
>uses the ugliest penguin species
frick you mojang
they were cool in that one surf movie
those eyebrow penguins may look cool when it's a singular character or something but when there's a lot of them they look moronic
>mojang can’t be bothered to add 2 other variants making a total of 3 penguin variants
Uhhh, how about you add all of them instead?
small company, pleasu understandu
wow...
mods? I know the extendo grip from Create
literally wolf armor and moar boats
i was trying to find the electric boat from IC2 but all the images of it are compressed to shit
wtf do penguins even do
I guess it's like a dolphin but works with boat speed and not swimming speed
also they look like shit
They make your boat go faster.
I'm serious.
>penguins
oh cool, so they'll either win automatically or they'll just add them later since they're clearly the one they actually want to get off their asses and add
still waiting on my PALM TREES
I will never forgive them for claiming they would increase the world height, hiring the guy who made the infinite world height mod, then only adding 50 blocks down (the height ceiling increase is irrelevant). At the very least they could have let infinite height worlds be generated in custom settings. All I wanted was to be able to generate a cave only world with no surface...
also copper pipes should have been added and work similar to buildcraft pipes
you can make worlds with 4096 block height.
i will simply make my own tree where every leaf block drops 6 fruits and cutting it down gives 8 stacks of wood which have the same hex value as the default red color in microsoft paint
>mods like this will never appear as main game mechanics because zoomers are too moronic and demand content with the same complexity as a game of checkers
NOOOOOOO YOU CAN'T JUST ASK THEM TO ADD 3 SHITTY NPC'S INTO A GAME, IT HAS TO BE A VOTE SO MOJANG CAN GET 5 MINUTES OF EXTRA ATTENTION. WTFFFF WHY ARE GAMERS SO TOXIC AND ENTITLED, YOU NEED TO APPRECATE AND RESPECT THE FACT THAT THE MULTI-BILLION DOLLAR COMPANY IS STILL UPDATING THE MOST POPULAR GAME OF ALL TIME WITH 1 NEW ANIMAL ONCE PER YEAR
I'm glad I never get this mad over a kid's game.
yes because you are a slop consuming animal that exudes money from some big shitty israelite corporation
why make this better
why be passionate about a thing you like
why ever be dissatisfied you have all you could ever need in your little box with gruel being pumped into your mouth
lmao just mod the game lol how is this even an issue
i do lmao
its just the "why are you mad bro you shouldnt be mad your seething you should just enjoy how shitty it is" mindset was always moronic to me
you SHOULD be b***hing as loud as you can if something sucks and you want it to change
some shitty teenager with his emotions hidden under 17 layers of irony who is to scared to express his true emotions or else he be called "seething" will not change my mind
It makes it much more alive and wouldn't make me bored to death after 2 minutes of starting a new world.
>add 3 different types of frogs for 3 different types of biome
>oh but you have to frogs for those other two, they don't exist naturally in the wild 🙂
I think we all know the penguin is going to win
is mojang ever going to make a new IP? can they even pull it off anymore? i remember the whole scrolls thing being a colossal failure.
it takes them a year to add 1 mob to 1 already built game, expect a new IP by 4055 at the earliest
wish they'd just let it rest at this point to be honest. why does minecraft need to be serviced at all? just say its done and move on.
Because it's basically free money for them
Every mob vote:
>"Here's mob 1, it'll add a new type of dirt block!"
>"Mob 2 only appears in this rare biome and will give you a flower if you find it!"
>"Mob 3 is a fricking pet dragon that gives you Dragon Armor and the Sword of the Ancients!"
And speedrunners will "ask" their fans to vote for 1.
