Why did they ever put Dark Samus in this game?

idk, something always rubbed me the wrong way about this smash remix devs. seeing them put in all these literal whos in before skull kid (an icon of the n64) made me resort to disliking their announcement videos. a bit petty ik, but what can u do.
Lylat Wars was one of the biggest games on the system and Sakurai had orginally wanted to make them all alt skins but I think having them as semi clones is honestly cooler

It was a mistake to add Dark Samus
It was only included when they were making clones but they could have added Pichu or Funky Kong
This is also very true. I feel like they should've kept the roster Nintendo 64-era and earlier only. Even if that means skipping out on an easy clone like Dark Samus.
That said, even if Dark Samus wasn't there, like
suggested they could be clever and specifically make it Dinosaur Planet Krystal. She'd still play the same, using the staff, and they could probably easily get Estelle Ellis to voice her.
It's something I can honestly kinda see happening, but not for a while. No-one is crying about "Star Fox bias!" (Except for OP), but if they add Krystal too soon after Slippy and Peppy I can see people trying to make a big deal out of it.
Star Fox fighters are just the best when it comes to Smash. Consistently good competitively and just feel really fun to play as.
Also Mother 3 Lucas. Akaneia did this shit too, and that pisses me off more because they otherwise make more of an explicit effort to be pretty faithful to the era (give or take an extra year due to Roy's game coming out in 2002). Smash 2 was the only era-focused mod with the balls AFAIK to give Lucas a design based on his Mother 64 outfit/hairdo.
Star Fox is the Fire Emblem of pre-Brawl Smash modding (or what Sonic is to Brawl-onward modding). One of the go-nowhere Melee mods also added like three goddamn new spacies.

true, but the stages cannot be saved anymore. Its filled with contact from later games. Dakr Samus is just a eyesore for being the odd one out

I also really hate that they added the Wario Ware stage when this Wario is supposed to be the Wario Land/Spin off games Wario, no quikiness, biker or farting
They should add Brian from Quest 64 that would be a fun character.
