NTA, but I beat both games and am now planning to try Elden Ring. I once said Elden Ring was the best game I would never play (I tried Bloodborne and got raped in the intro section) and I knew Horizon was inferior. I beat BOTW and am currently playing TOTK and despite being a Horizon fan I get why nu-Zelda and Elden Ring overshadowed it. Hopefully Elden Ring expands my horizons.

No. Part of what made dreams special is that it was as quick as fricking clicking on a youtube video to get in and out of a game, and it gamified the process of creation unto itself, anyone who says "just use a real game engine" misses the appeal of dreams for me.

The presentation of dialog and characters is much better, conversations are fully animated instead of just being talking heads back and forth. The writing is probably a little bit better but not by a ton. I think the quests are definitely better, there's less reliance on using the focus to follow a glowing trail. Although that definitely still exists. It's just not every quest any more.
I really liked the combat additions and improvements too. Some people thought it was overcomplicated compared to zero dawn but I liked the new options.

Free online. Cheaper games outside of brand-new AAA releases. The possibility of emulation and piracy allowing for free games and free access to basically the entirety of Nintendo's library on top of infinite backwards compatibility, meaning it has a bigger library than every one console out there.
Also, a good PC can outlast two console generations easily. You build a PC that dunks on a PS5 now, chances are it'll dunk on the PS6 too.
By the time I save enough money to actually get a better pc, the current generation will probably be nearing completion and there will even be better parts. I plan on selling my PS5 anyways because there’s nothing to play on it, but the price of admission for pc is too high for me right now

CoD was the better FPS at the time on playstation. Killzone wasn't making the money back from how much it cost, do to it's main FPS competitor on the console was CoD.
So what did Sony do? Tell the Killzone devs to fill in another niche in their catalogue which they already had plenty of games filling the same niche in and then got exclusive content and marketing deals with ABK for CoD.
Killzone really wasn't that good of an fps. It had nice art direction going for it and not much else.

In their push to be more progressive they made the setting make no sense. Culture and race can be dissociated from each other but you cannot make a setting with the genetic makeup of LA and expect the way it has forever. If I had my way each tribe would just be one or two ethnicities.

Yes Aloy is a Mary Sue and the writing is worse in 2, not to mention that it uses a lot of Ubisoft tropes. That said.
1. The visuals are a technical benchmark
2. The machine variety is extensive (from robot raptors to bats to turtles to massive birds and dinosaurs) and the machine combat is great and open ended. Melee and vs human combat needs improvement though though the 2nd game improved things.
3. There is a decent variety in the builds in the second game.
4. The open world isn't too big (like Ubishit) or too small, and the side content has a decent amount of efforts. 2 improved the variety (Better dungeons,Tomb Raider style puzzles,etc) even though the hunting grounds are dumbed down.
4. Despite using Ubisoft tropes, it mixes things up properly to feel unique and unlike Far Cry and new AC there is genuine effort put into avoiding mere copy-paste.
5. The worldbuilding is good (they got one of the New Vegas crew to write it) even though only a few characters are memorable (like the dead Ted Faro,Nil, and Sylens, the best character and now his actor is dead)
There are legitimate gripes, but these games are inoffensive even with the woke stuff.
I legit hope sylen's VA lines were recorded in advanced.

I think they're great, the gameplay is extremely fun. Vs machines is obviously the highlight but sneaking through bandit camps and stealth killing everyone is still pretty fun. I think the balance is also very good, pretty much all of the weapons can be effective and there are enough that you can feel like you've developed your own personal load out by the end of the game.
For me, the story/writing is above average for a video game (not a particularly high bar). It keeps you interested and moving along through the main missions. Not the greatest story ever told but it doesn't need to be since the game is fun.
Graphics are obviously amazing, pretty much the best out there. I think the sound effects for the machines are also really good.
I found world interesting, forges and some sidequests in first one. Like how birds were harrasing village, turned out they were just gathering materials that people were picking up from their gathering point. I'm also sucker for 'humanity fricked up' stories, but they took it too far for getting man into decising parts of project so he can frick it up with apollo again.
Two was overall boring and stupid. Actually already finale in first one was dumb with Alloy leaving master overdrive.
The villains in 2 felt like cartoon parodies of evil CEOS. I know that Ceos in general are evil, but at least give them some layers. Only Tilda and Walter from the dlc had any depth. The story would've been far more interesting had Zeniths succeeded in making a powerful colony/space empire and now they wanted to take back Earth and remake it on its own terms. Nemesis is understandable (reminds me too much of Skynet esque-tropes) but had too little foreshadowing. These games are fun but need something more to be as prominent gaming culture wise as Sony's other studios works (TLOU, new spiderman,GOW,Uncharted,etc).

I could have bought another expensive PC but I got tired of the runaway prices, having to research parts for every upgrade, and then inevitably being disappointed anyway because you paid $800 for the GPU alone and it still had coil whine or a shitty fan.
Instead I opted for a box that had most of what I needed and could get me into a game with a button press or two. Console wars and exclusivity has always been pointless and stupid, when PC has always been right there, as long as you were willing to pay for and deal with it.
