All my best memories of gaming usually involved my buddy and I shit talking some other squad or team or trolling someone else.
I think the last bastion was PUBG and they eventually white washed it. Me and my buddy used to play a lot, but it got to the point where it was just me and him running zombie mode and nothing to talk about or crack jokes because you can cover what all happened in your life the first 30 minutes of your game match.

Is fps dying? I played metro exodus and it was a good one, but after that i was going to play warzone, but i don't know why it didn't felt good. Hated apex shit since the very first launch, rainbow six goes down the same gutterhole, why everything feels so empty now like they don't have anything to deliver in gaming industry?

Depends whether you like tac shooters and BR or not. The genre has become very narrow. Same thing is happening to most other genres too.
Battlefield 2042 is the best example of FPS's dieing.
They blatantly ignored the fan base, cut corners intentionally, and prioritized makeing changes for monetization purposes.
The AAA studios have moved onto not worrying about makeing a quality game. Hell, most smaller companies have as well.
It's all about that minimal effort to make a return on investment and help break into the skins market.

planetside 2 is free on steam, has more peak players per 24 hour period, gets new content every month or so, and is arguably the most playable its been in years

planetside 2 pisses me off because it developed alongside the game empires mod, which was a less flashy but way way better gameplay based game. it finally is p much dead, but i cant play planetside because its like a failed version of empires that is slower, clunkier and full of wasted time.

i played hopped on planetside 2 because i heard it has "large scale battles" and i went to one of those and the "large scale battle" was our entire team camping some spawn hallway at some lab base thing, it was fricking aids. there was no fun in just sitting and waiting for them to leave, or getting too close to their spawn and getting killed. immediately i realized the playerbase has autism and stockholm syndrome and uninstalled the game.

I burned myself out on Destiny. It was the expansion where the new MP game mode gambit I think. I played tons of multiplayer, loved using the Revoker in multiplayer. Had the hunter with the fan the hammer ulti. World was beautiful, and exploration was rewarding. Had fun, but quite honestly I'll never probably never play again

It was a good game, when I had xbox gamepass for £1 a month and all dlcs (3 full dlc) for free. I even bought the season for it. All in all I played everything the game had to offer over 3 months for £10 or 13 dollars.
NOW that it's gone I have to buy everything for like 70 dollars.
There is no way in hell the new dlc witch queen is worth anything more than £10, and without the other dlcs I miss out on like 4 worlds out of 7. and 2 of them are free to play.

well a sure fire way to see if you have low trust factor is to join a lobby with someone with high trust factor and see if you get a low trust factor warning if you queue with them

They make money by selling battlepasses and all the new heroes/champs they push are globo homo. Battlefield Vietnam is the only good Battlefield, and it is better than any cod. Still great, the first game I played online. But MW1,2,3 and ghosts are still alright. Gearbox Halo 1 and the Halo 2 pc port are good. Those are all free and normie enough.

There are literally less than 6000 people playing WW1/WW2 games. Even 4282 isn't much, it had 30k online a year ago. These are all multiplayer only games so they're functionally useless. No one will ever in the history of mankind make a game as niche as Tannenberg about the Eastern Front of WW1 so you can't even say >just wait until the next game drops then it'll be active for 3 months.
At the same time fortnite, apex legends and fricking league have millions online each as we speak. Multiplayer gaming is dead and zoomers killed it.
for indie games, 4k is very very good. thats practically a full server 24/7 if youre an american. besides, since this is PC gaming you only ever need one server and youre forgetting squad which is doing very well too. insurgency is doing good as well. WW1 games are dead because its so niche, PS is a mod of the more popular squad and RS2 was left unfinished.
Only the "mega" servers give malware, theyre chink owned just filter them like everyone else. Only people dumb enough to join them are children and chinks themselves. Literally every other server is great, with active moderation, 24/7 uptime. Havent seen a single bot or hacker in 500 hrs of play. Theres always a full server up no matter youre region.

4k is many, many full servers. I have no idea where the 30k number comes from, but according to Steamcharts, its peak at the time this was posted was 13k, and since has hit 18k. The playerbase is also generally trending up and growing, which is an incredible feat for an indie game.
The mass popularity of games like Halo 3 and COD4 and the era of matchmaking really skewed perspectives on player counts. Free games with massive amounts of marketing put into them, while also being palatable to casuals as well as sweaty compgays. I don't mean that as an insult, I'm just acknowledging a large part of the success. funnily enough squad has severe problems running on dx12 so everyone uses dx11, yet the recent patch broke dx11 for any w7/w8 user
I stuck to Windows 7 for a very long time too. But after upgrading to Windows 10 about 3 years ago the only only regret I have is not making the switch sooner. Most of the interface and functions are very similar, it didn't take me long to get used to at all. The performance boost is also really nice.
Though I doubt I'll be switching to Windows 11 anytime soon, that shit looks fricking ass.

It has a narrative of alien invasion but then the story never goes anywhere, you explore these infected places but it doesn't feel like there is any plot progress, is like very early Payday 2, and I am not sure what Ubisoft intends to do with it.

Generation Zero has really good shootan and cool enemy designs, they all have weak points and different ai behaviors
lots of fun in coop to strategize with a friend how to approach an encounter and properly utilize the terrain to not get completely shredded
riding around a Swedish countryside on bikes looking for the next robot encounter is relaxing and the game can be very pretty
but then the game loop after the shoot is SO FRICKING BORING, after clearing an area you go through like 3 copy paste buildings holding E on dozens of containers with loot less interesting than any other loot shooter
it's 90% ammo and scrap and attachable gun scopes, sometimes you'll find a gun that you probably already have, if you're extra lucky you'll get the same gun you have but 1 tier higher
the story and dialogue is more annoying than anything and for some reason this solo / coop game has dailies

I've been enjoying CS:GO for my competitive fix. It helps that I have a consistent group of friends to play with. If I didn't have that I'd never play.
For casual I've been playing Ironsight. The community is small but I don't have a problem finding matches and I've been enjoying it. I also sometimes play Phantom Forces on Roblox.
It's 3rd person, but Warframe is my second most played game of all time. Mowing down hordes of enemies is always fun. The movement is also fantastic.
I'm also looking forward to BattleBit Remastered. I've been enjoying the play tests.

They definitely should. You'll occasionally get some super intense fighting on a point, but most of the time people are pretty spread out on even full pop. The way respawns and squads work can make it seem like you're fighting a bunch of guys, but it's usually one squad respawning over and over again until you get their OP. The actual times where most of both teams are in one area can get very intense.
Squad and HLL are pretty much all I play for multiplayer FPS anymore.

I bought hell let loose and feel kinda scammed. Red Orchestra 2 was better...but maybe its just because of the maps like anon above me said. I would recommend getting Ready or Not if you don't mind co-op and waiting for PvP eventually.

Insurgency is super fun. It combines the fun gunplay of cod4 with some tactical realism. I get immersed in it so quickly, you can roleplay as any class and its always fun. Support gunner providing suppressing fire, rogue sniper, taliban with 3 molotovs, pistol only james bond. You can larp on the mic too if u find a funny lobby. Its like battlefield for the poors with a shitty pc id say (idk i cant afford battlefield)
Theres also slightly modded servers which just make the gameplay feel even more smoother (letting u reload while sprinting, shooting while mid air etc.)

I'm a WW2 autist, I don't like any other MP games and so far nothing has come close to the thrill that is Red Orchestra 1/Darkest Hour. It's a damn near perfect game, it's a good balance of sim/game.
The original Stalkers are very clunky and prone to crashes, if you want to enjoy them for the story you can try, but gameplaywise there is no reason to prefer the old ones to Anomaly. Stalker anomaly basicly is a mod that combines every location, every item, every game mechanic and every npc from all of the previous games into one package with improved visuals and an own story. It has lots of replayability, you can customize almost every aspect of the game to your liking.
The GAMMA modpack brings various visual, gameplay and quality of life improvements with more content and makes the game a bit more challenging. But you can still disable mods that you dont like. I played both Anomaly vanilla and the Gamma modpack and i cant see myself going back to vanilla. But you should take into consideration that GAMMA is 70 gigs big whereas Stalker Anomaly vanilla is about 12. If you want to understand the story you will have to inform yourself about the previous games a bit though.
Post Scriptum is dog shit. I have 900 hours in the game and the devs are fricking morons. They spent like a year working on tank gameplay and have barely added any actual new content. Such a fricking disappointment. When PS first released, the game felt great, but now it's just a skeleton.
HLL is more casual and is easier to get into while PS is more realistic and has the more mature playerbase. I would pick HLL but the two biggest complaints I have about that game are it has one of the worst UIs Ive ever seen and tanks are miserable to drive.
The grind is also fricking awful and it will take you 100s of hours to get to max level with a single class, honestly considering asking a friend if they want to try an exploit
you unlock cosmetics and class loadouts. cosmetics are unlocked through both player level and class level and player level is relatively quick to level up. class loadouts can give you new weapons and utilities but class level takes a long ass while to actually level up and thats assuming you stick to one class and do relatively okay each game you play them

I burned myself out on Destiny. It was the expansion where the new MP game mode gambit I think. I played tons of multiplayer, loved using the Revoker in multiplayer. Had the hunter with the fan the hammer ulti. World was beautiful, and exploration was rewarding. Had fun, but quite honestly I'll never probably never play again

well a sure fire way to see if you have low trust factor is to join a lobby with someone with high trust factor and see if you get a low trust factor warning if you queue with them
the other way is if alot of the games you're getting have a huge rank disparity like 5+ rank difference (MGs with LEM+ etc) which usually means there's probably someone cheating
so far on my main account thats around LEM the past 50 or so games ive played no one has been banned yet and only in a couple of those some people were a little bit sus

Battlefield Vietnam is the only good Battlefield, and it is better than any cod. Still great, the first game I played online. But MW1,2,3 and ghosts are still alright. Gearbox Halo 1 and the Halo 2 pc port are good. Those are all free and normie enough.

4k is many, many full servers. I have no idea where the 30k number comes from, but according to Steamcharts, its peak at the time this was posted was 13k, and since has hit 18k. The playerbase is also generally trending up and growing, which is an incredible feat for an indie game.
The mass popularity of games like Halo 3 and COD4 and the era of matchmaking really skewed perspectives on player counts. Obfuscating the amount of people playing behind queuing probably lead to many believing there were far more players at one time than there actually were in a lot of games.

Most of the interface and functions are very similar, it didn't take me long to get used to at all. The performance boost is also really nice.

I've been enjoying CS:GO for my competitive fix. It helps that I have a consistent group of friends to play with. If I didn't have that I'd never play.
For casual I've been playing Ironsight. The community is small but I don't have a problem finding matches and I've been enjoying it. I also sometimes play Phantom Forces on Roblox.
It's 3rd person, but Warframe is my second most played game of all time. Mowing down hordes of enemies is always fun. The movement is also fantastic.
I'm also looking forward to BattleBit Remastered. I've been enjoying the play tests.

They definitely should. You'll occasionally get some super intense fighting on a point, but most of the time people are pretty spread out on even full pop. The way respawns and squads work can make it seem like you're fighting a bunch of guys, but it's usually one squad respawning over and over again until you get their OP. The actual times where most of both teams are in one area can get very intense.
they should reduce the map size by 2x. This delusion that 500v500 games will be good is insane.
i think 80v80 or even 100v100 would be doable, but they should also increase the size of squads from 6 to 9

Insurgency is super fun. It combines the fun gunplay of cod4 with some tactical realism. I get immersed in it so quickly, you can roleplay as any class and its always fun. Support gunner providing suppressing fire, rogue sniper, taliban with 3 molotovs, pistol only james bond. You can larp on the mic too if u find a funny lobby. Its like battlefield for the poors with a shitty pc id say (idk i cant afford battlefield)
Theres also slightly modded servers which just make the gameplay feel even more smoother (letting u reload while sprinting, shooting while mid air etc.)

If you like single-player survival shooters you should take a look at the GAMMA modpack for Stalker Anomaly. Its entirely free btw.

The original Stalkers are very clunky and prone to crashes, if you want to enjoy them for the story you can try, but gameplaywise there is no reason to prefer the old ones to Anomaly. Stalker anomaly basicly is a mod that combines every location, every item, every game mechanic and every npc from all of the previous games into one package with improved visuals and an own story. It has lots of replayability, you can customize almost every aspect of the game to your liking.
The GAMMA modpack brings various visual, gameplay and quality of life improvements with more content and makes the game a bit more challenging. But you can still disable mods that you dont like. I played both Anomaly vanilla and the Gamma modpack and i cant see myself going back to vanilla. But you should take into consideration that GAMMA is 70 gigs big whereas Stalker Anomaly vanilla is about 12. If you want to understand the story you will have to inform yourself about the previous games a bit though.

HLL is more casual and is easier to get into while PS is more realistic and has the more mature playerbase. I would pick HLL but the two biggest complaints I have about that game are it has one of the worst UIs Ive ever seen and tanks are miserable to drive.
Also you have to grind to unlock stuff in HLL.
The grind is also fricking awful and it will take you 100s of hours to get to max level with a single class, honestly considering asking a friend if they want to try an exploit

you unlock cosmetics and class loadouts. cosmetics are unlocked through both player level and class level and player level is relatively quick to level up. class loadouts can give you new weapons and utilities but class level takes a long ass while to actually level up and thats assuming you stick to one class and do relatively okay each game you play them
