>Arx Fatalis
Dying Earth is such a great aesthetic. I wish we could get a sequel where you interact with the guild of travelers. I want it to look and feel like the 2002 game but just use the new technology to add above ground areas with sprawling megastructures hinting at the height of civilizations before they were condemned to live below ground. Give it a touch of BotNS
>Decide to get into Conan on a whim >saw the movies as a kid but never went further than that >read through the stories and enjoy them >learn that there will likely never be another Conan film because of rights shit >look up Conan games >Conan Exiles looks interesting >it's still full price despite being about 6 years old, still has full priced DLC's, and the game is closer to a survival MMO than anything else, also it typically reviewed as a 6/10 >look to see if there was a single player game instead >the last one was Conan in 2007....and it never got ported to PC, so it's stuck on the PS3 and 360
this sucks
I have a habit of suddenly getting into things that have almost no modern contemporary, this feels like when I played Arx Fatalis and thought I'd missed out on a whole genre of immersive dungeon crawlers, only to find that the next best game to play after Arx was Ultima Underworld for 1993, which really doesn't play that well (I started on DOS, but I'll be damned if I'm going back to having to using my mouse to move the character in 3D space that feels like shit)
that there will likely never be another Conan film because of rights shit
Just a couple more years before the stories go public domain, Anon. Conan is technically public domain outside of America too.
>Conan Exiles
Garbage tier shit that was created during the crafting survival mmo gold rush. The single layer is horrible and looks nothing like Conan Universe.
The MMO part is filled with literal ERP trannies in every server.
Not untrue. Besides the tiny 'modern' part (less than 1% of the game). The game itself is pretty oldschool. Elminster spilled his cool quote, act 1, 2 and 3 are pretty 80s.
i actually found out by accident on osgameclones, when looking for games i can play on linux, because at work we all use linux, and found out this, at home i installed it and it was really fun, very arcadey, i really want to try it in multiplayer but my coworkers are over whelmed by it and we stick to games like xonotic

Check out the Nox Reloaded mod for modern support and online connectivity (cause Westwood Online is long dead).
The old Phantasy Star games on Sega Genesis are fairly underrated. Find them on emulator if you can't get them on consoles or compilations. Phantasy Star IV was particularly good, and the games give off an early "Mass Effect" vibe. They're like a mix of sci fi & fantasy elements. Side Note: The cover art for PStar3 is so much cooler than the rest of them.

Dragon's Dogma
Dragon's Crown, not really an RPG but might scratch the itch
The Warlords of Draenor intro mission was pretty pulp-like.
The jungle, the ancient gate, the blood rituals, the red sky...
Baldur's Gate 3
Not untrue. Besides the tiny 'modern' part (less than 1% of the game). The game itself is pretty oldschool. Elminster spilled his cool quote, act 1, 2 and 3 are pretty 80s.

Dark Souls/Elden Ring unironically ynm8vv
I fricking loved Conan the barbarian.
People are terrified of making low fantasy settings, not flashy enough for normies.
>but...muh bronze/gold/bismuth dragons
based
seconding conan exiles
it just needs more chrome looking armor
Does it really? Whenever I look into it, it just seems like one of the rust look-alikes.

Please keep the AI slop in the containment threads.
If OPs image is AI... than I choose AI over modern artists.
That's nice.
>Not already choosing them
lmao pleb
This pic goes hard as frick. S-end a little extra time manually redrawing the minor errors and it’s a masterpiece
Shit, is that really AI?
What keywords do I have to use to get images like that?
Ask in the AI threads.
a dark and ancient tomb of atlantis with bones and strange glowing runes embedded in the walls, a female barbarian warrior with a club in his hand facing a evil eldritch snake human, drawn by Frank Frazetta
That's clearly more of a Caldwell or Elmore, not Frazetta.
that image in particular looks like Diablo 2
>AInectar
Yes. Need some good sword and sorcery games
If a certain amount of whimsy is permitted, I still vouch for the first Lands of Lore.
Dark and Darker is the only modern game I can think of. Otherwise you're best off looking at 90s RPGs or Legend of Grimrock
