Any other RPGs that mix the regular isometric view when in towns or the overworld with blobber gameplay when exploring dungeons?

dont all retro dungeon crawlers do this?
I don't know? I mean, I'm sure Shining in the Darkness doesn't. But I don't know many retro dungeon crawlers (blobbers, not Diablo or Nethack kind of dungeon crawlers).
But I used to only browse Ganker
Thanks
I thought Ultima was always isometric and Wizardry always first person with grid based movement and etc.
The first 3 Ultima games had first person views in dungeons
The first 5 do. Dungeons are arguably the shittiest part of 4.
>blobber
stay in /vr/ you crossboarding parasite.
What do you want me to call that shit? First person dungeon crawlers with grid based movement? Because that sucks just as much as saying blobbers
"3D Dungeon Game."
The Japs have been calling it by its correct name since the dawn of time.
What game is that?
If I wrote "3D Dungeon Game", I'm sure most people wouldnt know I'm specifically talking about blobbers. But I just realised maybe "DRPGs" is a better term.
Real research says blobbers or drpgs? Also what ecelebs talks about these genres anyway?
Why are weebs so sensitive? I mean its just how you call a nearly dead vidya genre. If you got the idea, its all that matters
>Real research says blobbers or drpgs?
Those kinds of buzzwords like blobber is how you know you aren't doing research, you're coming across westoid slop.
Lurk more if you can't tell the difference.
>If I wrote "3D Dungeon Game", I'm sure most people wouldnt know I'm specifically talking about blobbers.
Anyone worth talking to would, the only ones confused would be fricking morons that get all their info from ecelebs, like you.
>But I just realised maybe "DRPGs" is a better term.
Middle ground but still not enough, all you will do is attract the EOgays.
Man, smoke a frickin bowl already, you sound like such a bitter pedant.
>be a fricking moron
>get called out
>wtf why are you so sensitive 🙁
literal trannoid behavior
I miss the good old days of making your own maps in graph paper or a notebook.
But I wouldn't go back to them, living without automap now feels like going back to being a caveman.
I generally enjoy mapping when the game doesn't have automap and I'm pretty sure I started with automap, it really adds to the exploration feel.
I tried playing WIzardy on the NES recently and my god it was brutal
Except there is a few different types of this first person dungeon genre. Japs probably have no idea about that since the only thing they know is simplified clones of wizardry.
>Racist westoid projecting and pretending their grid dancing homosexualry is a real game.
Grimrock is dogshit, it's time to accept it already.
First person crawlers aren't all grid locked zoomie.
do you call deus ex a character action game because you control a character and it's not turn based?
how new are you that you don't know basic gaming terminology?
I think you have mental problems. Do you consider a game like Betray at Krondor a first person shooter then?
it's impressive how ignorant westoids can be about vidya they claim to have interest in
stop parroting eceleb slop for one fricking second and do real research
unironically, ask plebbit for help. those homosexuals will be happy to help you. as you can see ITT, nothing worth being posted
>posting about a vidya topic in another vidya board
>crossboarding
Persona 1&2
Like all of them? Go play Ultima.
>blobber
go back where you came from westoid homosexual
Phantasy Star, why Sega just abandoned it forever I have no idea since Online was never a replacement for it, it would be easy cash to just get a bunch of people to make one and market it like Square does with their HD-2D games
Sega is a bunch of fricking morons that can barely manage to not kill themselves off for good.
>Phantasy Star, why Sega just abandoned it forever I have no idea since Online was never a replacement for it
IIRC someone mentioned that Phantasy Star V never happened because the story timeline was properly concluded akin to the MOTHER series by Itoi.
It's why Phantasy Star Online is a essential reboot a of the series, for better or worse.
>It's why Phantasy Star Online is a essential reboot a of the series, for better or worse.
It's not a reboot. The designers of PSO were told to use a existing Sega IP name that was dormant to capitalize on older fans when they were making the game. The PS connections are only in names nothing else.
the dev team went to work on sakura wars which was hugely popular and then skies of arcadia which is a cult classic. then sega died and they became the valkyria chronicles team.
What the frick is a blobber. I have never heard that before
NOBODY says that shit, gays on /vr/ think it's a thing. It's dungeon crawler and will always be dungeon crawler.
is "blobber" a new term, or an old term that came back in vogue? because ive only ever known them as dungeon crawlers, but that term also got loosely thrown around in later years.
blobber is a relatively recent term that an eceleb brought back and made everyone spam it like morons
it was also a derogatory term to shit on japanese dungeon crawlers
God I love classic Phantasy Star
Still waiting for a bard's tale style remaster of the old might and magic games. As long as you have a pdf of the manual for spell names, it's still very playable.
Best site for this type of game. Very thorough.

>Ganker gets triggered by the word blobber now
lol time to use it more often
Awesome
>doubling down on your troonyshit instead of talking about vidya
how is blobber troonyshit lmao that term is older than you
>still trying to pretend it's the word and not your troony attitude after being called out over your newhomosexualry
yeah that's a troony all right
You are a schizo.
>Very thorough.
Not really just by opening the PS4 list I can see they miss obvious modern titles like Undernauts
early smt
Genesis: D & D, Warriors of the Eternal Sun
One of my favorite RPG's of all time. Couldn't nail the D&D vibe anymore for a 16 bit game.
This is now a D*D Warriors thread.
This looks pretty cool. Is it any good?
Yeah. It's a no bullshit game, little dialogue style RPG. Just a few simple systems and an objective. It opens with the kingdom getting transported into the valley one night, you make your party, and the king sends you to figure what the frick is going on. You can theoretically make 4 Elf clerics and beat the game if you want, although that would be horrible and tedious grinding them to get strong enough. Kind of like the first Final Fantasy where certain party sets work great but you can brute force anything, but without allt he dialogue.
It's my favorite 16bit RPG. Not just from nostalgia, it's functionally the most replayable game as its systems>story.
Neat, I'll check it out. I assume because it's on Genesis it's not a pain in the ass to play with a controller?
And is it turn-based or real-time? Asking because the HUD reminds me Eye of the Beholder.
Turn based. But indoors has a bit of an actionery vibe. https://youtu.be/AyF3mUzp0xs?si=lGPajZ0DB6okTsU2&t=3206
best phantasy star
I recognize those drab brick walls.
This is Phantasy Star.
The game pulled the greatest trick for me back then. Play half the game with one overworld and a bunch of dungeons, and then when you get the fire defense gauntlets you go through the huge fire cave and end up in a whole new overworld. A lot smaller and purpose built, a swamp area you had to go kill lizardmen. But it blew my mind. It might be as close as you can come to the Skyrim exiting the dungeon moment on a 16 bit cartridge.
Sword of Vermillion has overhead towns and when you exit towns its first person.

Sure glad I built a $3000 PC to play flash games. Does PC have games even?
>he fell for the PC meme
lol why
Unless you want to jerk off in VR dont bother to get a PC more expensive than 1k
Albion (not online).
Phantasy Star 1

No the doctor lives there.
