Any strategy games where I can design my own units or heavily modify them? Looking for a game where I can design mechs or tanks or infantry.

;^)
Are there any games that do this with C&C or SC1 style graphics?
Galciv series
Impossible Creatures
Star Ruler 2
You can download it for free from here:

Star Ruler 1
Aurora 4x
Diaspora Ex Astris
hoi4, hoi3, hoi2
Easily my least favourite part about HOI4 to the point where it stopped me playing it. I just want to use the historical vehicles. I don't want to create optimised clown cars.
there is no historical equipment in this game, homosexuals. They may have different skins but they all have the same stats. The tank and plane editor are the only way for you to have historical equipment.
There used to be before they added the unit designer, you nonce. You researched specific tanks whereas now you just research the idea of a tank and slap whatever you want onto it.
no there wasn't, moron. That's what I was saying. You had unique skins but all of them had the exact same stats.
fricking around with the current meta division designer and designing is indeed tedious in hoi4
only if you're a meta homosexual. I prefer autistically designing tanks that are as historically accurate as possible. That means avoiding sloped armor for Panzer IV and Tiger even if that makes my tanks weaker.
shadow empire
I love this lil homie like you wouldn’t believe
I miss the "close up of scifi mans head staring into camera while cool stuff happens on one side of his face" RTS boxart era.
I miss when Boxart used actual artists, instead of cgi photoshop pictures.
so what, a brief period in the late 80s?
90s too, anon. Technically hand-drawn pc game art continued into early aughts if we want to be pedantic.
Mech Engineer, Mechwarrior or any Battletech game for mechs
Shadow Empire and Alpha Centauri somewhat for every classical rts unit
Distant worlds and Aurora4x for spaceships
Children of a Dead Earth is probably the most detailed game for this kind of thing, it's only hard scifi spaceships though.
Nebulous Fleet Command
space empires 4
Imperium Galactica 2
you can design infantry load outs in dawn of war 2
certain warband mods, such as paradigm worlds.
Forged Battalion. You literally get to create your own units.

From the Depths. It's a building game first with campaign maps.
Hearts of Iron 4
Download infantry equipment designer if you're so autistic that designing divisions isn't enough and you want to design their gear/weapons.
