>I don't play video games in public anyways that's what books are for
same. I will usually do my reading in public, but deck is my go to when i'm at home and want to game on the couch/bed instead of on my desktop.
I don't do anything in public. When I'm forced to be in public for an errand or some such nonsense I do it as fast as I possibly can so I can get back home where I will play my Steam Deck and my desktop
I bought it and also bought the ayn odin pro 1, hardly used the steamdeck. While the steam is definitely more powerful than both the odin 1 and odin 2, the form factor is shit and its hard to play the shit anywhere besides my household. Got a third party dock and still didn't do it for me. Not really into low powered indie games and multiplayer games require windows due to anti cheat software.
Lmao, no. Even if the deck isn't especially comfy - it destroys the 3DS in ergonomics. Frick that thing, but it had good games.
Now I have my Awakening file and a frickton of my other games on deck and they're a trillion times more fun to play with a big screen, in HD and with the ergonomics that won't frick my hands up after an hour.
i 'ecked in the mouth of redheaded pawg i wanted to bang for years while playing Hogwarts on my deck when we were laying in bed while she blew me.
Its always Deckn' time for me
Well, battery life for most modern games with even half-decent settings is trash. Also they could be more solidly built. I hardly take mine out of the house but it's still acquired a nasty crack in the casing around the fan vent just from a few 1 foot tumbles.
>Scammed
I had a very specific use case in mind for mine, so no.
You sound like the average consoomer who just buys things to buy them, then blames the product for your lack of impulse control.
If you don't already have the LCD then you might as well go all out and get the OLED. There are more upgrades with the OLED than just the screen - although the upgrades aren't that big of an improvement.
If you have the LED already,it's up to you if you want to spend $600. I have the LED and don't plan to upgrade for a while longer yet.
imo 512gb is enough since you can also slap an external micro sd. i think having the 1tb model is just gonna make you install a bunch of games and cause choice paralysis. you can also look up youtube videos to see how to internally upgrade the ssd too, lots of people have done this but be weary that you will void warranty by doing so.
I barely play on PC anymore, all I do is lay in bed with the Deck.
It's actually curious how it can move almost anything you throw at it.
RDR2, Arkham Knight, Baldur's Gate 3...
My only problem is Desktop Mode just isn't made for touch screen.
Get the OLED, be it 512GB or 1TB, the battery life alone is worth it.
The best thing about the oled is the better battery life. If money is enough of a concern that you're considering refurbished you can't go wrong with the original deck it's still an fantastic value for what it offers.
The OLED Deck is seems to be two or 5 frames better in more demanding 3D games according to Digital Foundry, but it doesnt seem to be a huge generational leap in terms of generational performance compared to a proper Deck 2 either. Plus you can easily connect an LCD Dock to an OLED display using any number of cheap third party docks on Amazon.
But it's also worth pointing out that the original LCD Deck still provides excellent bang for your buck, and you can easily swap out the internal SSD in favor of a larger one, with plenty of guides available on Youtube. In fact, a positive for the Deck in general is that regardless of whatever model you buy, there are tons of replacement parts and guides as Valve wanted it to be "DIY Friendly", which is another bonus.
If you like OLED panels with a 90hz refresh rate, improved battery, slight boosts to performance and the best bang for your buck, you can't can't go wrong with an OLED model. But if money is tight, you can't go wrong with a refurbished or second-hand Deck either. It's still a powerful gaming machine with an excellent price to performance ratio.
Plenty of people did though, and his extremely versatile. It's completely replaced every HD console I've had lmao, and it's the perfect companion to my computer.
I would not recommend an LCD deck to someone who doesn't have one. There's just too much QoL. If money is so tight that you can't afford the cheapest OLED then you probably shouldn't be buying a deck in the first place.
Strong disagree. I have both and the only real benefit I appreciate in the oled over the original is the battery life. The original deck for its price is still excellent value.
I wanted one but I'd be driven mad hearing a fan right in my face the whole time I play something remotely demanding. Also don't wanna have to buygay all my games.
>non-portable
Ever heard about something called a "bag"? It basically makes non-portable things more portable. You should try it. >Bags have been attested for thousands of years and have been used by both men and women. Bags have been prevalent as far back as Ancient Egypt. Many hieroglyphs depict males with bags tied around their waists. The Bible mentions pouches, especially with regard to Judas Iscariot carrying one around, holding his personal items.
because they need to be tard wrangled with the design, QC and support of a western company, otherwise you pay $1200 for a poorly designed brick and then the manufacturer hyong yong que bing bong ching chong ghosts you until just after your warranty expires and says "oh no too bad, can't help you"
You can't actually see his neck due to due the direction of the camera and his fingers don't look morbidly obese. Save your hostility for when it is deserved. You wouldn't want to run out next time you find an actually objectionable person on the internet.
Bought mine a year after release specifically because back in 2019 I was on a business trip, was in the hotel room, and had nothing to do. I could read, but I don't typically read to unwind, I play video games. Watching YouTube documentaries didn't cut it either. I figure that I can bring my Steam Deck with me as my personal device instead of a personal laptop.
Compared to any other type of portable gaming it's a steal because I can bring my Steam library with me. Finally, I presumed that the Steam Deck could motivate me to both get out of 4x genre rut (it failed to do so because of how good the trackpads worked) and motivate me to buy older and cheaper games that conserve battery life (it partially succeeded with the primary caveat that very old games don't necessarily work well on the Deck).
The battery life is biggest weakness, but the OLED version solves that for new buyers. Also I simply bought a battery bank which is useful both for the Deck and any other device I have. Between that and a GaN power adapter and 10 ft USB-c cable, I've never had a concern about running out of power.
Battey life is an inherent weakness of these x86-based handhelds compared to ARM/Android. Powering some more graphically demanding games whether in a small or large form factor is not easy, it's just that the Deck is the most energy efficient of all the machines on the market. Especially compared to Windows-based handhelds. If you play something way lower end, you can squeeze a lot more play time than you ever would on its Windows equivalents, and at a huge fraction of the price.
I dont think it's that unusual. The Deck is based on a Linux OS, which can result in game compatibility issues with older titles. Emulation on the Deck meanwhile is excellent, so older titles can just as likely play better on there.
I actually still don't know how some older games like the PS2 era of GTA would even play on Deck, or most of Rockstar's games from that time, it may be a rare case where even with fan patches you may still have a better experience emulating.
why would you waste your time with mods anyway? all mods are just moronic coom shit. if you want to coom that badly just look at tiktok thots or porn like everyone else
I love mine. It can play fricking anything I personally want it to. Steam games, retro emulation, epic store games and Amazon free games, streaming ps4 games, Switch and PS3 emulation. I couldn't be happier with the device
Is it still overheating and dropping frames after 30 minutes of play? The Steam Deck looks like those moronic zoomer flip phones with the bent screens. The deck looks weak compared to a proper gaming pc and too uncomfortable compared to a 3ds or a switch
Probably the best emulation device I ever owned. A lot of times I choose to play games on it instead of my PC because I already spent way too much time staring at PC screen at work.
I use my Deck daily but it is not a portable
If they released a weaker spec Deck that actually fit in my pocket I'd buy it day 1
mostly play older games on it with a rare modern game like MH rise
I've been thinking of buying eck or whatever the other handhelds are, depends which is the best.
I have back pain problems and i sit too much working on my pc so it would be nice to lay down while playing.
Is it worth the price?
Me. But I had enough sense to return it before the return period expired so Valve didn't get a penny from me.
I knew the writing was on the wall when Palworld could barely run even when I pit it on low settings and cranked down the resolution. Installing the patch helped, but one really shouldn't have to do that if Valve wants the deck to be a seamless handheld experience.
I do like the idea of handhelds though so I'm waiting patiently for a Deck 2 or Rog Ally 2, which will hopefully be more powerful and fix all of the issues these handhelds have.
Not sure if it's still on sale, but at $350 the Rog Ally btfos the deck. I would highly recommend it if you're in the market for a portable pc console hybrid.

closest thing i have is a laptop with a 750m but that has heat issues
>be me 13 >blast through red dead and get to last mission >realise i fricked up because theres so many unfinished side missions >do most of the side missions >Finally play the final mission >IT WAS THE WRONG FRICKING MISSION
I ordered one off steam and of course it was never delivered and my money never refunded

yeah, i play it all the time. it's really nice.
also it has better controls than any controller I've tried.
Love my Miku, Persona, Yakuza, 3DS, and VN machine
Why would you play 3ds games on that thing? Better to play 3ds games on a 3ds.
It runs and looks better on some games

Do I get the OLED 1 TB one or a LCD one? I can't decide still.

Yeah, the Deck has loads of battery life when emulating games from my childhood.
Also, is it weird that I have more confidence that emulations will run well on the deck than games from the same time period purchased off of Steam?
I dont think it's that unusual. The Deck is based on a Linux OS, which can result in game compatibility issues with older titles. Emulation on the Deck meanwhile is excellent, so older titles can just as likely play better on there.

Not sure if it's still on sale, but at $350 the Rog Ally btfos the deck. I would highly recommend it if you're in the market for a portable pc console hybrid.

keep it
There is no such thing as windows mobile OS and everyone games on windows anyways.
oh no so it misses out on.... constantly triggering DRM like the steamed dick does
not oled
Rog ally looks better due to higher resolution and vrr. Deck would be a winner if not for that lolcow 700p resolution.

bleh
I think I used the track pads for all of 10 minutes when I had my steam deck over a week before returning it.

$350 for the weak version running windows without trackpads required to play a ton of pc games, no thank you.
