same. the world of conan deserves a proper game.

i guess conan exiles is the new pseudo-mmo for funcom since its going to get a new battlepass and seasons with sorcery update.

i'm surprised they never made it fully f2p, last time i checked i think some stuff is still paywalled

It was basically a half-finished mess at the best of times, then Funcom got bought out by Tencent, Exiles isn't even an MMO but still a better online Conan game, and Mortal Online 2 is trying (unsuccessfully) to tap into that same "mature" online game demographic. I would absolutely love to play a modern Heavy Metal-themed MMO, but you don't have a lot of options outside of janky early access, aggressive Asian microtransactions, or dead/forgotten games. You know things are bad when fricking Mad World for the Android is the closest thing we have to a successor and it's still a giant pile of dogshit.

that game must be fun, fear and hunger. I'll check it out.

The RNG is an absolute pain-in-the-ass unless you've played the game a few times or looked up a guide to help you reliably get through certain sections. Just expect to constantly, constantly get fricked in the most "unfair" ways possible unless you're willing to get some help.

That's fine, I get that. I kind of want to experience it for the atmosphere of it. The art looks great.

I take it back, it's tedious as frick all to play. Art and lore looks great, I'll just watch a walkthrough.

What's wrong with Mortal Online 2?

not the same person, but MO2 had really bad issues with server stability (and still does), virtually every feature felt half-implemented and/or extremely buggy, tons of core features are missing, and the game has had a very big problem with hackers and exploiters
they should have waited another 2 years to release it; the hype opportunity is far gone, as the game peaks at fewer than 1000 players now

    >play necromancer
    >play on release
    >all sorts of summons to pick from, neat builds all around
    >patch comes out
    >reduces summon damage by 70%
    >increases spellpower bonuses by 5%
    >"summon necromancers should see an increase in damage from this change"
    >meta for necros after that point is to not cast spells or use talents and just use a crossbow
    still upset

oh I forgot to mention it also reduced the base damage of spells by an incredible amount as well, hence just gearing yourself to autoattack with your weapon

and there are some people who will defend game devs even when they make stupid decisions

    >played Age of Conan when it first released
    >game was 50gb, pretty fricking massive for the time
    >hilariously poorly optimized, got more FPS with the settings maxed than with them at the minimum
    >if you rolled a female character you attacked about ~40% slower than males. This took months to fix
    >armor straight up didn't work
    >the healer classes were tankier than the tanks, did more damage than the pure DPS classes, while also being able to heal
    >on the other hand, a ranger critting with salvo and locking you into an execute animation from full health was pretty normal
    >dark templars had abilities that costs a percentage of your max health to use and a stance that doubled the amount of damage you take. You could potentially knock off 70% of your health in one click and in return get a miniscule health regen buff for a few seconds that'd cover 5% of the cost
    >necros summoning a horde of Black folk and hiding behind a rock while you get lynched bullying casters with the mana draining zombies was my personal favorite
I haven't touched Age of Conan in over a decade now but the tutorial island and the absolute clown fiesta of a launch will always be good memories.

Holy shit, came here thinking it was about Exiles. Now I can't believe how competent and well-designed game it is in contrast to what I read here

I remember playing age of conan at launch. Rolled a priest of mitra which was super fun and for anyone else who played at launch, PoM was broken as frick.

I can't think of other mmos than guild wars 1 and age of conan who have done necromancer correct where you can summon more than 1-2 minions.

I played an assassin, which was maybe the worst class in the game
trying to fight priests of mitra, tempests of set, bear shamans, and rangers felt like it was utterly impossible to win
game was cool, but god damn was the balance bad and it felt completely unfinished after tortage

I really liked the melee combat. Kept my fingers busy. Shame they didn't have anything similar for ranged and magic combat.

What are micro transactions in it like? Could be the answer considering TOR is still existing almost purely thanks to cartel packs
