Anyone else too busy trying to convince?

Anyone else too busy trying to convince /vrpg/ that skyrim "isn't THAT bad" to actually play RPGs? There are only so many hours in the day. Feels bad, man.

If I've tried to get into an RPG 5 times, and it never hooked my interest, while I'm able to get through clunky NES JRPGs and have a blast, then I think it means the game is complete and utter dogshit.

If I copy pasted this wiki page about how elves eat bug eggs would that change your opinion?

Tetris never hooked my interest, must be a dogshit game.

True brother, I assume you have bought copies of skyrim for all your friends as well?

Why, yes! How could you tell? I bought full-price copies for my brother, my friends, my dad, and even my friend's mother on mother's day.

I've had zero interest in replaying Skyrim at all for like a decade now. I still go back and play Daggerfall or Morrowind every once in awhile, though.

the tes games are more true rpgs than pathfinder, souls and build autism games where you cant roleplay. even skyrim is a good rpg with bad mechanics.

That's true, there is more roleplaying in a single mentally stimulating session of stealth archery than there is in every other rpg combined. I feel very immersed when I make my character eat a raw cabbage everyday, even though there's not a hunger meter i pretend there is because that's true roleplaying and how REAL rpgs work.

        this, but unironically.

I am being completely sincere, game design doesn't matter at all. Sometimes I just close my eyes and listen to the COMFY Jeremy Soule soundtrack and pretend I'm playing a good game. This is why TES is a trve masterpiece.

Alright so boot up whatever jarpigger slop you think constitutes as an rpg and then attempt to roleplay as a bounty hunter turned vampire slayer who has frequent religious experiences. Spoilers: you can't.
            >pick preselect class
            >go slay badguy
            >number go up
Is unironically what you think roleplaying consists of: not choosing your own role but in having the game decide all of your actions. You should stick to Nintendo garbage since it's all your brain capacity is good at compartmentalizing.

I don't know a single person who actually "roleplays" like this in random games. If you're stopping by random temples in TES to make your character pray then you genuinely have severe autism and shouldn't be taken seriously by anybody.

Correction: you don't know a single person who enjoys roleplaying games.

So.. when you play most rpg's, do you just select the default character if it has character creation? You seriously don't play rpg's with the intention of making a thematic character and basing your decision making off of choices that would fit that character's mentality? AKA, roleplaying? If you played Baldur's Gate 1 did you make decisions entirely based off of what was mechanically powerful with no other considerations? Autism is defined by lack of creativity, lack of empathy, desire for order and a taking of things at face value. It sounds like the one with autism is you, man.

        >he doesn't eat 3 times a day
        >he unironically needs his hand held and instructed in order to "role play" in an rpg
The problem is that you want a big number go up simulator and not an actually immersive experience. I don't think Skyrim is perfect, but it has all of the mechanics in place to simulate a truly immersive role playing experience that most rpg's simply lack, but that's not the kind of game you're interested in.

        >That's true, there is more roleplaying in a single mentally stimulating session of stealth archery than there is in every other rpg combined.
You say that ironically, but can't you imagine that such gameplay can yield a deep roleplaying experience? Skyrim is an immersive RPG where you can play various roles and just ignore the mainstory if it doesn't fit to your character. Playing a stealth archer for the brotherhood with own missions is what roleplaying is about essentially.
True, Skyrim could have more mechanics that make the world react better to you and your actions. In this aspect, there are better games.

          >with own missions
Yes, between bandit camps and draugr there is so much variety. Bless bethesda for showing people what a REAL rpg looks like.

            >he has never explored Skyrim's oceans
            >never been to Blackreach
            >never discovered passive Hagravens
Can guarantee you went to Riverwood, then Whiterun and did Bleakfalls Barrow and uninstalled the game after pursuing it in an exceedingly linear fashion. There is more detail, variety of locations, and interesting things to explore in Skyrim than whatever shallow calculator sim you think passes as an rpg.

If the games systems don't enable roleplaying then it's not a quality roleplaying game. Your character should be motivated by the feedback given by the game, not playing pretend.

So by that definition Skyrim is one of the best role playing games ever designed since its systems allow for intense immersion and role playing.
