i play both games. actually, i probably play wow more, i only play ff14 on my trial account at the moment because i'm not paying them money when there's frick-all to do. i'm actually subbed to wow and raid lead in wotlk classic.

I played the first few months of the expansion, leveling up is fun the first time like with every release but it's still the same nu-wow. Only stuck around for arena but that has the balance of a moronic toddler as always so I got sick of it and put it down until the next expansion.
Yes, I played it and it was a million times better than Shadowlands and BFA. BFA was by far the worst expansion given it killed PvP servers, had the worst "content" so far and didn't add a single interesting thing. Allied races were a flop, War Mode was also a flop, the story was even worse than usual and the only salvageable thing was the questing (which is something you only care about until you hit max level)

I bought Dragonflight against my better judgment. I got to max level and fricked around for a while and quit. The gameplay is "ok," it's kinda the same shit it's been since Legion. The story is terrible. The group content is whatever, not enough to convince me to stay.
As another anon said the moment-to-moment combat gameplay is just about the only thing the game truly has going for it (and I really don't think that's very special either), just about every other aspect of the game, systems-wise, is terrible.
Really the only reason I'd event want to play WoW anymore is goblin girls and they're not enough to keep me around.

Good at it. WoW also still maintains really great core combat, which other MMOs and even most other games have yet to touch.
Encounter design is clearly slipping, though. Current raid is narcoleptic and the first raid of the expansion is easily the worst I've played.

It's not actually that difficult, provided you're actively trying to learn. Constantly trawl WarcraftLogs for build information, trawl whatever your class authority is to get better at your rotation and opener, generally make it second nature. Raiding is a product of being so good at your class that you can execute it as optimally as possible while preparing for mechanics that frick up your rotation (when do you save CDs, when you do use them, are there adds you need to burst? What about your utility, are you assigned to do it?)
I'd say it's possible if not easy to get Ahead of the Curve (all Heroic) on your first-ever tier playing WoW if you're trying, then you push your success on AOTC to go for Cutting Edge the next tier (you typically need some history in order for a CE team to even trial you). I got CE on my first-ever tier, but it was the easiest tier ever released so that's cheating.
My guild's pretty solid for Mythic prog. Almost got HOF Alliance last tier, obv nowhere near it now because it's combined

My time ran out in april and I haven't gone back. DF was what I wanted SL and to some degree BFA to be. But by that point it was too late for me. I still have friends who play but they only came back in order to raidlog in Classic, they've been burned by retail too many times. That's me, and just about everyone I talked to ingame around the launch of Dragonflight. I quit a few months in along with most people on my friends list, but there are enough people hopelessly addicted to keep the game afloat no matter how badly they drive the game into the ground. They don't really need to worry about pulling in new players when they have a fanbase that will pay that $15 a month + cash shop tip every single month until the day they die.

But then again there's people like you and me who do quit despite being the "right" demographic so eventually I do think they'll only have a tiny group of super fans and whales (<100k) and I'm not sure Activision/Microsoft will want to keep that around for nostalgia's sake. Blizzard has stuck around a long time but surely they can't escape the grim reaper forever. They're not a bank, eventually they're gonna die.
It's interesting to think about what combination of circumstances will eventually lead to the most popular MMO of all time shutting down. How many more expansions can they churn out and trick people into buying before it inevitably goes into maintenance mode, and how long will that last before finally pulling the plug? Will it eventually go f2p, and if they do will they pull out all the stops on microtransactions and offer up 20+ years of gear/mounts/toys all for sale? I may never return but I'll be keeping tabs on what all happens, like an old friend.
If Blizzard is paranoid about making a WoW 2 that invalidates everyone's collections including gaudy TCG mounts and Valentine rockets that takes 15 years to grind, either they stick with the poorly-aging engine with shit documentation until EoS, or they try to remake the game in another engine and port over everything there the best they could. Kartrider Drift is a really good textbook example of how NOT to sunset your original game that had a huge legacy for a game that barely offers anything, and if Blizzard were to sunset the original WoW for WoW 2 like that, all hell would be loose.

Mag'har, lightforged, and draenei locks are the most moronic thing they put in wow since Korthia.
Orc turned green from getting cursed by ritualistically drinking demon blood from a magic goblet on a society-wide scale, not simply "being around fel magic".
Wow has raped plenty of the original lore of warcraft, but this is honestly not one of them. Mag'har orcs are the descendants of orcs who didn't drink Mannoroths blood, that doesn't mean it's impossible a few individuals among them couldn't have learned to cast fel magic on their own.
The Frostwolves never drank the blood, and never allowed warlocks to warp their clan.
But that's in the books and it's perfectly fine if you weren't autistic enough to read them or if that's been retconned since.

Ok you have a valid point, but I still say that what the orcs did went far beyond simple "warlock shittery". The majority of their race took highly concentrated demon essence into their body through a powerful demonic artifact that afflicted them with a curse and transformed them on a biological level. I doubt it was as simple as "any exposure to fel magic from any source instantly makes orcs turn green", the Frostwolves probably had to be surrounded by other, corrupted orcs for long periods of time before it spread to them and turned them green too.
Humans and gnomes have proven since vanilla that you don't need 90% of your race to drink demon blood just to learn how to summon an imp and cast shadowbolt. A few Mag'har orcs independently choosing to learn about fel magic doesn't seem like it would instantly start turning all of them green. Otherwise why doesn't any other race start instantly transforming as soon as a few members of their society become warlocks? Is orc skin is just extra-absorbent compared to every other race, or was their transformation caused by extreme circumstances that don't usually happen?
My favorite fel-corrupted race is definitely the gnomes.

I played it a bit levelling was alright, I do genuinely like the return of talent tress. Dragon riding feels like a good compromise to appease no flight whiners while also making the act of getting around not be a fricking slog.
The story is boring to cringe depending on the topic. Nagrand 4.0 with the centaurs was the lowest point.
The endgame rep grinds, raids, dungeons and everything else is tedious shit that turns the game into a job but all mmos suffer from that. Grinding for ages just to get enough power to do a boss fight that you then have to repeat once a week for ages because lol gear rng.
