I wish there was,
old runescape had such a charming art style, but the half 2D runescape looked like shit
I like that, but the intentionally low frames per animation looks kinda bad, it's like it's missing something Runescape did, maybe there's too many frames that make it look strange? or lacking the "still movement" if that makes sense.
I'll definitely look forward to that
>It's a small game made in two weeks for a gamejam and as such its length is short (about half an hour). That said, it's quite feature complete and will feel like a little piece of a grand, much larger adventure.
Wow, imagine if these guys were given good funding and time.
Cute, this does capture the style pretty well. Early-3d banded shading looks good, don't know why it's not used intentionally.
Looking forward to the new game made by the og Runescape guys. Apparently it's the same game visually and conceptually but removing the overkill grind.
Andrew brought in Paul to write it, so I am looking forward to it. From what I've heard their plan to curb the bot problem is to make the skilling portion more automated, like an idle game within the game.

Lacks artstyle,
this looks like it just has bad graphics made in a time when you had to have bad graphics, where as Runescape looks like good graphics made for bad hardware, low poly, simple with friendly colors, distinct & unique sounds etc
If I had to describe it any better, I'd say runescape has a 'cartoony' vibe to it, while your pic looks like a game that tried to have as realistic graphics as possible in the year 1995-99
>where as Runescape looks like good graphics made for bad hardware
What sort of zoomie revisionism is this? Runescape looks like shit in every single one of its forms.
>comes to a thread where OP asks for for Runescape art style >calls it shit with no specific reason why
Ah yes, the quintessential Gankeraggot behavior,
the absolute need to enter the thread just to spew diarrhea from your lungs in vapid controversy
How is it our problem if you can't appreciate minimalism and early cartoony 3D aesthetics?
Have you considered that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and that art can be subjective?
it isn't just nostalgia, people genuinely love vibrant near-solid colors when it works with the simple 3D style
It has no artistic cohesion. It's a mix of ugly styles. Ugly textures mixed with ugly flat shaded polygons. All of your post is just cope because I called your favorite game ugly.
Nobody considered Runescape to look good back in the day. People played it because it was free and ran on almost any PC.
It's not my favorite game, and you are objectively wrong about everything.
It's just ugly to you, or you're just baiting for replies because you just don't have anything better going on that entering threads you don't like

Yes, but you are absolutely wrong about claiming that it's a "mix" of "ugly styles", because it's very consistent (at least OSRS was, without the graphics overhaul, retexturing and added detail)

I'm just telling you that objectively Runescape looks bad. You can enjoy eating shit if you want but I can still tell you that's gross.
runescape isn't minimalistic or cartoonish
it was just limited so it would run on browser
now that the game uses a python3 external client with 99999 plugins the whole thing makes no sense anymore
they're just fricking lazy
I can't tell if the environments are comprised of small set pieces like that or if they put those together for the trailer. Also the cube based environments look terrible. The art style isn't inspiring either.
everything i've seen from Morrowind looks like runescape in 3D
Runescape is in 3d
yeah but real 3D
Runescape is real 3d
but like actual 3D
moron
uncalled for
forced perspective bullcrap
>it's not 3D because.. it just isn't okay!?
Did you really think that THREE DIMENSIONS would not apply if you can't rotate camera in every direction?
This is 2D
<--->
this is 3D

You can't even call it "pseudo 3D" like some rotating (or still) 2D image in a 3D landscape (like pokemon Black and White, for example)
it's 2.5D
moron
You mean games that look like shit?
Little big adventure

He wanted it to be more TTRPG-like
If the level design is like that I think it clashes with it supposedly being an MMORPG.

The Black Grimoire. It's still in early access but has a demo.
I like what I see so far, but I didn't try the demo,
gonna keep my eye on it and see what people say in their reviews
Project zomboid, there is even a mod for a skill tracker like runescape that borrows some runescape symbols.
Huh, looks like Arcanists is getting a steam release
