No, it is not a platformer. Like Banjo-Kazooie it is a collectathon. By contrast, Mario 64 is a platformer in that the purpose is to reach an objective via platforming and other acrobatics and end the course. In earlier games it was a flag pole, in Mario 64 it is a star. Ape escape, much like Banjo, allows you to jump and glide and hover, enabling you to collect things and catch apes. Platforming is not the purpose of the game, collecting is. You cannot beat the game by platforming, but you can by collecting. It is a collectathon like Banjo-Kazooie.

>I'm honestly surprised not even indie devs have attempted to make an Ape Escape inspired style game
There's a lot of trash up on itch.io that are actual Ape Escape style games, but none of them are worthy of mention or worth anyone's time. The closest actual game that doesn't suck is Bugsnax.
>started playing MM >can barely understand 30% of what they're saying >no quick guide for the in-game systems either online or in the game itself >choose default character instead of making my own >do 9-10 stages >this seems kinda spongy and grindy, also target lock-on sucks >figure there must be something wrong that I'm doing >make custom character just cause >game starts gifting me chips and shit >can actually craft weapons an gadgets from them, either through recipees or free form >my arsenal now has fricking grenade and missile launchers that tear through bosses and armored monkeys >can also change costumes
It's like a whole different game now, frick me for not immediately creating a character.
Oh and also YOU HAVE TO KEEP R3 PRESSED DOWN TO SHOOT A NET (while equipped), took me forever to find out. Don't rely too much on lock-on switching or it will frick you up big time, just disable lock on (L1) and shoot the net in the general direction.
As for the ultimates that you access by tapping two adjacent face buttons, every character has its own and while you can gather their general meaning from their name, it's a crapshoot until you test them out for yourself. Sometimes in the midst of action I activate them by mistake, that gets really annoying.
>until you start getting into kanji
Only people who know next to nothing about moon think this. Kanji are literally the easiest and most helpful part.
You're not wrong but it really depends on the method you memorize them with tho. I didn't say reading an all-hiragana/katakana game is preferable, in fact it's pretty miserable unless you play literal babby games (Detective Conan on PS1 has a no-kanji option and it's nearly unreadable).
Sorry, I meant how difficult is the language barrier in this game. I know that kid friendly games usually have easier writing to let kids play, for example some nintendo games using furigana and such.
>Sorry, I meant how difficult is the language barrier in this game
It's pretty alright then, objectives are simple enough and explained with images, it's menu navigation and some subtleties of the gameplay that you'll miss out early on. This game was obviously going to be localized if FMVs are of any indication.

This is why I'm still bummed that we never got a Metroid 64. Samus Returns scratched the itch a little, but it's not quite the same thing.
Are you bruteforcing your way in, or do you actually know moonrunes.
If second, how difficult is the language barrier? I'm going to unironically, legitimately start studying at an academy next month to broaden my horizons.
>or do you actually know moonrunes
Just the most basic shit, it helped me navigate through the menus but I suppose you can bruteforce learn the options meaning as long as you have good memory. Navigating through the Character Edit screen is going to be bit of a b***h tho.
>If second, how difficult is the language barrier?
It's not too much hassle until you start getting into kanji and radicals. The language is very optimized, as is Chinese probably, just don't be a dekinai and get passionate about it. Also watch some JP TV I dunno

I dunno anon, I checked the current status of the translation, it seems kinda dead in the water atm. It's been in the works for at least 4 years, last I heard most of the translation was done but work into implementing it didn't start yet. Then last year the dude told to stay put and that the project is not dead. Fast forward to one year later and here we are with no updates. The interest for this game aside from AE fanatics is very little. Even Simple 2000 games have more available guides online or working translations.

Kanji look scary to people who don't know moon or are just starting because there's a lot of them. It's really just simple memorization and they help you with the actual difficult part of the language which is understanding the context for everything, and homophones.

Not when the language has as many homophones as Japanese, I promise you. Know one who actually knows any appreciable amount of the language thinks kanji are hard.

Sadly it's not that kind of language, it becomes word salad without kanji, and improves reading speed by 200%, though speaking it gets though unless you learn both readings and when they're to be used

How easy is it to dump the games text? I've always wanted to try and translate a game using AI LLMs. I am tech savvy but know nothing about dumping and reinserting raw text into ROMs and ISOs

2 and 3 are ok. 1 is meh.
the series peaks is about a 6/10 overall.

also getting sucked out of a stage once you hit the target monkey number and have to go back in and progress through the level all over to get the rest is cancer.

nothing more revealing of a young age than posting generic Ganker meme phrases out of a hat after someone gives a genuine opinion of something with clear evidence they did indeed play the games.
that plus trying to force a meme "le i post it everyday xDDD"
sounds like someone is projecting about the whole zoomer thing.
its fine. all the mainline ape escape games are pretty similar and samey. I didnt care much for the superpower abilities in ape escape 3 , i barely used them... Ape escape 1 should be the only ape escape that gets remembered. the dicky in ape escape 3 was a nice feature though.
Ape Quest is pretty good but if you don't like Mario Party minigames you probably won't like it. Ape Academy 1 and 2 and Ape Quest are all Mario Party games in an Ape Escape skin without the board game aspect of it. It's just the minigames stitched together.
Ape Racer is easily their worst game in my opinion. The vehicles control like absolute garbage, you feel so slow, and it's so hard to stomach playing it if you've played any other kart racer.

ape escape was essentially sony's mario in japan for a while, it's one of their only actual FIRST-party series (not second-party like ND or insomniac) and the pipo monkeys are common playstaiton mascits in japan even to this day, bear in mind JP playstation has a totally different "vibe" to western playstation, less "gamers rise up" and more weird and/or cutesy shit

Because the franchise going all-in on the anime was around the same time as both the English and American localization groups separately imploding.
i've heard good things about pumped and primed but i've also only played the main three games.
million monkeys looks... interesting and like if sony for some reason wanted to be like shadow the hedgehog but i can't read moonrunes and if earlier posts show it's not that great and a translation patch is basically dead. hope one day it gets finished along with sarusaru big mission which i've heard is really fricking good.
Moose
Big Mission does not need a translation patch at all. You can play it from start to finish and 100% it without even knowing hiragana or katakana, it is that basic in terms of what you need to know. There's only a handful of buttons and taking over an ape just gives you two or so new moves, that's pretty much it.
Ape Escape P remix is even better, building up to the monkey riff with the smoothest pure jungle ever concieved instead of spamming it until it loses meaning.
It's just better quality samples and removing the riff from most of the song to let drums and bass do their glorious thing. OST release has the same version as PSP remake for a reason.
>OST release has the same version as PSP remake for a reason
They don't. The original game's ost, the official "originape" soundtrack and the psp version each have different versions of the songs. I checked it myself (i have all three versions downloaded)

>tfw originape soundtracks frick up dexter's island

They have three different tracks in many cases, but WELCOME is pretty much identical between AEP and Originape.
As for me, as much as I enjoy that, Coral Cave and Dark Ruins, nothing brings smile to my face like Specter's Factory (outside) and Western Land. Quintessentially Ape Escape sound, rhythmic and funky. Western Land is also an example of a track that's by far the best in AEP, Originape muted the precussion during the drum&country part and AE1 version has wonky vibratos and low quality samples.
read the thread because I just downloaded the game, expecting genuine discussion and just see canny posting, zoomer accusations, and contrarian accusations. every thread on Ganker is really the same shallow garbage all the time
well I've only just downloaded the game recently and so I don't know much about it. I wanted to see other people talk about it to get an impression of how they actually view it and the unique elements that contribute to its gameplay and how that reflects against other games etc. Like I heard it was a collectathon and that's really interesting to me since I know Mario and banjo are collectathons too and they seemed to be popular around that time, and OP mentions it as the best 3D platformers as well. It would be cool to see people have genuine discussion and debate about these categories and what it means or reflects about the game and similar games overall. Instead of someone saying "is it even considered a platformer" then getting one not "Yes" responses.
But I expect too much from this site and board. I don't even care if somebody calls me an elitist for this because it doesn't matter if what I say is true. The reality is that my thoughts unfortunately run farther than other peoples and I think ahead of and expect different things to be born as a result of certain mentions of words like "3D platformer" ND "collectathon" while forgetting that people actually just use these words to end all conversation there and beg the question, instead of actually debating over and understanding them. Words are for use. Not for understanding.
Anyway...I ranted too much, board has had me in a bad mood ever since a dumb bridget and Tomb Raider thread I saw where they were just talking about appearances and perception and nothing about the actual games. So imma peace put and go find some games to play
Give me 3 on PS4 and PS5 Sony. They've done every single ape escape game and yet I still don't have the one I want. Why is the PSP version of Ape Escape on the loose on classics and yet 3 is still in the either?
it's crazy just how fast it hits you with how abad it's utilized >third to last level >starts off immediately with an obstacle that needs it >takes so long just to cling on to it and move it >suddenly want you to use it for almost everything so you may as well have it as a main gadget >almost the entire first half of the final level is nothing but going across slow moving magnets >do it twice because the magic punch monkey is also located at the very end of the stage
it wouldn't even be so bad if everything revolving around it was just faster but every time it kills the pace so much.
that's actually something i was thinking about a couple days ago
that would be fun, being able to shoot the object back would make for some fun ways to pick off enemies.
you could probably expand this to the monkeys like sucking in white pants' bombs or green pants' missiles, just with the added risk of them exploding after a set time.
Its kind of one of those adventure/action/do-shit-in-a-3d-space type of game. Platforming in is secondary in general.
I loved all the games but 1 is my least favorite from a graphics and gameplay standpoint. 2 has alot of charm and 3 is fun to just run through with the unique abilities, even if they make the game bit too easy.
For me 2 was my first, so i never had that culture shock of having a different composer. Its amazing how music can make or break a game for some people. frick magnets tho
I like all three in the trilogy, but as a kid I could never get past the fact that the MC in 2 was Ash Ketchum
I remember the yellow monkey returning as surprise final fight of the freaky monkey five (or whatever they were called) being neat
Nah, there's something off. The levels are too simple or something, moving around doesn't really feel that satisfying and the levels feel really linear. The fact that the game kicks you out of the level before you're done exploring is also super annoying.
>The fact that the game kicks you out of the level before you're done exploring is also super annoying.
You can't 100% all/most levels, till you get the remaining gadgets. It's to encourage the player to go back later to said levels, once you get all the gadgets.
Fun is subjective. Don't be the moron using the term "fun" thinking it can only apply to a certain subsetnof games. Also if Sonynwas only making "movie games" then games like Sackboy wouldn't exist. They make what sells, not what didn't.
And the question in this case is "why?". The only people clamoring for these games are a minority and never bought them when they were being made whixh resulted in Sony stopping their production. It's not a conspiracy, they sold like shit so they stopped making them

Sony is making the Astrobot games it's main Platformer series now.
Going by what's known, it's a Banjo Kazooie type platformer with power upgrades and fully explorable areas. Less gimmicky controls. But there are NPCs that you're supposed to chase similar to Spyro's Egg thieves.

You've watched too much sci fi to even go down that moronic route with that claim. Advanced technology isn't being delivered in Whites and Gray's and isn't even sleek most of the time. What's holding up Ape Escape 3 is that they don't have functional PS2 emulation for PS5. The current port for 2 is also poor quality and that will likely get a new port once Sony rolls out it's new emulation programs.
It started life as Ape Escape 4 but then read the reviews:
"The game received "unfavorable" reviews according to the review aggregation website Metacritic.[13] IGN's Jack DeVries disliked the game and found that it was "missing a lot of shooter fundamentals like additional weapons ,[sic] co-op, and challenge", concluding that it was "an embarrassing, shovelware shooter that feels more like a bargain bin Wii title than a first party affair".[19] In Japan, Famitsu gave it a score of three sevens and one six for a total of 27 out of 40.[15]"
and people wonder why japan Studio got shutdown and Asobi replaced them.

I'm chopping them up and selling them to the highest african bidder.

Literal chefs kiss to both these games.

I'll be honest. I've never played Ape Escape but I see people beg for it all the time. I often think "maybe I can make a quick buck by making a clone" but then my autism says it's insincere to copy a game I've never played. Problem is there's like THREE games, Playstation games are harder to emulate, and the controls are apparently notorious. But a game about catching AI is very alluring.
If I had to choose one game, which one should I play? Or is it really worth playing them all?
1 because it's the easiest to emulate and is a good starting point anyway. the other games are fun too but unless you don't care too much about texture issues or any of pcsx2's problems it's gonna cost a lot of money for the games plus a PS2 if you don't have the latter.

>do 9-10 stages
>this seems kinda spongy and grindy, also target lock-on sucks
>figure there must be something wrong that I'm doing
>make custom character just cause
>game starts gifting me chips and shit
>can actually craft weapons an gadgets from them, either through recipees or free form
>my arsenal now has fricking grenade and missile launchers that tear through bosses and armored monkeys
>can also change costumes
It's like a whole different game now, frick me for not immediately creating a character.
Jesus, I finally tried this one recently and hated it. I'm gonna have to try it again.
https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%82%B5%E3%83%AB%E3%82%B2%E3%83%83%E3%83%81%E3%83%A5_%E3%83%9F%E3%83%AA%E3%82%AA%E3%83%B3%E3%83%A2%E3%83%B3%E3%82%AD%E3%83%BC%E3%82%BA
Run this shit through Google Translate, it's genuinely the only piece of guide the game has online, save for this wikia page:
https://apeescape.fandom.com/wiki/Gadget_Types
Oh and also YOU HAVE TO KEEP R3 PRESSED DOWN TO SHOOT A NET (while equipped), took me forever to find out. Don't rely too much on lock-on switching or it will frick you up big time, just disable lock on (L1) and shoot the net in the general direction.
As for the ultimates that you access by tapping two adjacent face buttons, every character has its own and while you can gather their general meaning from their name, it's a crapshoot until you test them out for yourself. Sometimes in the midst of action I activate them by mistake, that gets really annoying.
You're not wrong but it really depends on the method you memorize them with tho. I didn't say reading an all-hiragana/katakana game is preferable, in fact it's pretty miserable unless you play literal babby games (Detective Conan on PS1 has a no-kanji option and it's nearly unreadable).
>Sorry, I meant how difficult is the language barrier in this game
It's pretty alright then, objectives are simple enough and explained with images, it's menu navigation and some subtleties of the gameplay that you'll miss out early on. This game was obviously going to be localized if FMVs are of any indication.
Oh yeah L3 uses the character's special move I guess. In the case of Spike it's a lunge, for Casi, it's a block.
>no new ape scape game on PS5 when you could do tons of gimmicks with the pressurized triggers and the touch pad
it hurts
the frick is this
Are you bruteforcing your way in, or do you actually know moonrunes.
Sorry, I meant how difficult is the language barrier in this game. I know that kid friendly games usually have easier writing to let kids play, for example some nintendo games using furigana and such.
>until you start getting into kanji
Only people who know next to nothing about moon think this. Kanji are literally the easiest and most helpful part.
can you elaborate?
t. moonlet
Kanji look scary to people who don't know moon or are just starting because there's a lot of them. It's really just simple memorization and they help you with the actual difficult part of the language which is understanding the context for everything, and homophones.
I would much prefer to just have a normal alphabet, I went through those for a year and can't remember shit. Even if I don't know some Russian word, at least I can actually read it
>I would much prefer to just have a normal alphabet
Not when the language has as many homophones as Japanese, I promise you. Know one who actually knows any appreciable amount of the language thinks kanji are hard.
>I would much prefer to just have a normal alphabet
Sadly it's not that kind of language, it becomes word salad without kanji, and improves reading speed by 200%, though speaking it gets though unless you learn both readings and when they're to be used
> translation
How easy is it to dump the games text? I've always wanted to try and translate a game using AI LLMs. I am tech savvy but know nothing about dumping and reinserting raw text into ROMs and ISOs
I'm still praying someone makes a translation for this game. I imported a copy years ago but didn't have any idea what I was doing aside from making a character thanks to Pumped & Primed.
That’s because you’re an ass clowning homosexual
The game is suppossedly being translated by some guy.
Ape Escape 3 is the worst one and doomed the series. Ape Escape 1 is the best game by far (it shows that the original developers weren't involved in any of the sequels).
>Ape Escape 3 is the worst one and doomed the series.
Holy contrarian
>Ape Escape 3 is the worst one
In a timeline where 2 exists? Nah.
i want remakes of this trilogy so i don't have to deal with godawful PS2 emulation and so it can get a second chance in the market
if it flops after that so be it, but i really want the games back
PS2 emulation is good now
I miss the old PCSX2 emulation. It had soul. It’s all too good and perfect nowadays.
Yeah yeah and I miss ZSNES
yeah I also miss when half my games didn't work
nothing is stopping you from installing an old version, anon-kun.
>Ah, stuttering and texture issues, how nostalgic and souludo kino.
go frick yourself you moron
no it isn't
I emulated 3 on a shitty nitro 5 and beat it blind completely fine
omg anon we have the same puter
wanna make out?
>t. thinks a single glitchy texture means the emulation is unplayable
I emulated 2 some months ago with no problems aside from some flickering underwater
Frick you here's TLOU2 remake and a midevil movie
which one of these should i replay between 2 and 3
3
Not enough aki out there, frickin' legendary rack, especially for a kid's game
I will start the thread.
2 and 3 are ok. 1 is meh.
the series peaks is about a 6/10 overall.
later stages feel more like chores than fun.
also getting sucked out of a stage once you hit the target monkey number and have to go back in and progress through the level all over to get the rest is cancer.
Okay zoomie, you can go back to your bing bing wahoos
nothing more revealing of a young age than posting generic Ganker meme phrases out of a hat after someone gives a genuine opinion of something with clear evidence they did indeed play the games.
that plus trying to force a meme "le i post it everyday xDDD"
sounds like someone is projecting about the whole zoomer thing.
Ban dickygays.
I replay 1 every other year and it's still fun to 100% from the first minute to the last.
Masterpiece.
3 is an amazing fricking game and I'm sad that all 3 is known for is dicky
its fine. all the mainline ape escape games are pretty similar and samey. I didnt care much for the superpower abilities in ape escape 3 , i barely used them... Ape escape 1 should be the only ape escape that gets remembered. the dicky in ape escape 3 was a nice feature though.
>Ape escape 1 should be the only ape escape that gets remembered.
Take it back.
OUT of the mainline ones... I havent delved into any of the other ape escape games, besides trying to download ape quest
The vehicles control like absolute garbage, you feel so slow, and it's so hard to stomach playing it if you've played any other kart racer.
i gotta check out some of the ape escape spin offs. i just got into the series early this year, It mustve been big in japan during the PS2 era to warrant so many spin offs.
ape escape was essentially sony's mario in japan for a while, it's one of their only actual FIRST-party series (not second-party like ND or insomniac) and the pipo monkeys are common playstaiton mascits in japan even to this day, bear in mind JP playstation has a totally different "vibe" to western playstation, less "gamers rise up" and more weird and/or cutesy shit
>The only localized Toro game was a Vita game where you spam friend requests to random people just to progress.
>If you went to Asian English the only other English game was also a Mario Party minigame game for PS3 and even sites that stocked it had it for like $100 for years.
>Only two PS Stars items, one of which required you to play fighting games to obtain (Which I don't) and the other is a Nyan cat one.
Being an English Toro fan is suffering.
at least he made it into psasbr (as did spike actually, last time we saw either of them iirc)
Its funny how Spike has references to the whole series in his design and moveset but the west never even got the Ape escape spinoffs
props to superbot, they really tried to be accurate
Because the franchise going all-in on the anime was around the same time as both the English and American localization groups separately imploding.
i've heard good things about pumped and primed but i've also only played the main three games.
million monkeys looks... interesting and like if sony for some reason wanted to be like shadow the hedgehog but i can't read moonrunes and if earlier posts show it's not that great and a translation patch is basically dead. hope one day it gets finished along with sarusaru big mission which i've heard is really fricking good.
Big Mission does not need a translation patch at all. You can play it from start to finish and 100% it without even knowing hiragana or katakana, it is that basic in terms of what you need to know. There's only a handful of buttons and taking over an ape just gives you two or so new moves, that's pretty much it.
>pedophile calls having a little girl he can sexualize "a feature".
holy shit
>HE can sexualize
>meanwhile picrel was how she was modeled
dial 8 dial 8
how can a dozen polygons be so sexy
Is it not self evident? When they represent pure sex?
Post your favorite OST from it
The one and only. This track is just the greatest drum and bass piece of music ever concieved.
my nig, specter's castle is a legendary video game track
Ape Escape P remix is even better, building up to the monkey riff with the smoothest pure jungle ever concieved instead of spamming it until it loses meaning.
Get your ears checked that sounds awful
Western Land is also an example of a track that's by far the best in AEP, Originape muted the precussion during the drum&country part and AE1 version has wonky vibratos and low quality samples.
now you cant just say SHIT like that without people wanting to prove you wrong
I like christmas levels.
soul
Or
For an early level track it's a dam good one
Yes.
spyro was better
False.
I 100% 2 and 3
3 is a bit better
2 gacha shit was cancerous
yes
They're a little too easy imo
1 kino
2 ok but a little bit boring, bad gadgets
3 fun but too gimmicky
sexo
When's Ape Escape 4?
All previous characters are playable. dicky fans can have their Yumi and I get Spike and his new transformations.
I liked how the twitter account posted those early early concept designs for the AP1 characters, that was neat
it hurts
I didn't grow up with Ape Escape but I played 1 and 2 several years back and they were certified kino. I wish Sony still made good games
They do make good games, you just don't like them but I doubt they care much since they sell millions to everyone else
read the thread because I just downloaded the game, expecting genuine discussion and just see canny posting, zoomer accusations, and contrarian accusations. every thread on Ganker is really the same shallow garbage all the time
What about it do you wanna talk about? I'm down for Yumi spam or genuine discussion
well I've only just downloaded the game recently and so I don't know much about it.
Chill out bro and just enjoy the games and its amazing soundtrack
>just downloaded the game
>sits on Ganker instead of playing
I liked the Snake vs Ape mini game in metal gear solid 3
Give me 3 on PS4 and PS5 Sony. They've done every single ape escape game and yet I still don't have the one I want. Why is the PSP version of Ape Escape on the loose on classics and yet 3 is still in the either?
Its gonna happen eventually bro. Maybe 6 months from now?
I really hope so. I like having all my favorite games on a convenient console.
Snoy is doing it on purpose to spite the e-girl posters here.
I'm also mad about it because I haven't played it. I guess I'll just emulate.
Rape Escape is better
post that one game where you have to capture yumi
Why are Jim Ryan and Hermen Hulst so evil?
Neither of then make games. They delegate tasks and funding. Learn how corporations work moron.
monkeys could be posting in this thread right now
Ganker is a mexican board, so no doubt
Frick the magnet especially
it's crazy just how fast it hits you with how abad it's utilized
>third to last level
>starts off immediately with an obstacle that needs it
>takes so long just to cling on to it and move it
>suddenly want you to use it for almost everything so you may as well have it as a main gadget
>almost the entire first half of the final level is nothing but going across slow moving magnets
>do it twice because the magic punch monkey is also located at the very end of the stage
it wouldn't even be so bad if everything revolving around it was just faster but every time it kills the pace so much.
You know what would have made it fun? I you could magnetize smaller mechanical enemies and chuck them at other enemies/monkeys.
that's actually something i was thinking about a couple days ago
that would be fun, being able to shoot the object back would make for some fun ways to pick off enemies.
you could probably expand this to the monkeys like sucking in white pants' bombs or green pants' missiles, just with the added risk of them exploding after a set time.
I definitely recommend Big Mission, it definitely felt like an Ape Escape lite. Pretty linear, but it definitely felt like an AE game.
2 feels off just because of the music. Even as a kid I knew something was off immediately
For me 2 was my first, so i never had that culture shock of having a different composer. Its amazing how music can make or break a game for some people. frick magnets tho
And as soon as I started the first level of 3 I knew things were right again
I'm surprised that no one has made an Ape Escape clone yet.
apparently bugsnax is similar with how you use contrapations with controller gimmicks to capture stuff
It is, but it's in first person, it probably is what the PS3 ape escape game should have been.
Ape Escape 3 with Japanese Undub and is the GOAT
I like all three in the trilogy, but as a kid I could never get past the fact that the MC in 2 was Ash Ketchum
I remember the yellow monkey returning as surprise final fight of the freaky monkey five (or whatever they were called) being neat
Jimmy was Ash, Natalie was Misty. It's a shame those voices aren't the ones used in any of the ports.
When I was a moronic little kid these ice bridges in Hot Springs were impossible
It has been about 20 years since I last played it, but I'm guessing you're supposed to use the hula hoop to just dash through?
Sky flyer is safer. Slingback shooter for skipping it entirely.
Yeah but there are also some spiky balls on the higher levels. And I was a moronic little kid who was bad at games
They still are quite difficult. the platforms just drop so fast.
on replays i usually just fly up with the slingshot glitch.
Hell, the first level preps you or this since there's clearly a monkey on the cliff that's JUST outta reach.
Based
?si=uQF_3jFNMU6E7Fow
who owns the IP?
because i think is doomeed
Sony owns it. They can't make ape games anymore though because of black fragility.
If sony dont make it, is because they dont like real fun games, they make "mature movies"
Fun is subjective. Don't be the moron using the term "fun" thinking it can only apply to a certain subsetnof games. Also if Sonynwas only making "movie games" then games like Sackboy wouldn't exist. They make what sells, not what didn't.
the sackboy game was barely an experiment... but I guess they made the ratchet and klang.
So It would just need somebody in the company that likes Ape escape more than Sackboy
>Less gimmicky controls.
But that was the best part of the Dualsense game.
The shoulder button jets were fine, but frick that touchpad ball mode.
Putting that in a new Astro game would kill any momentum the series might have.
God this shit is so fricking soulless given how much Sony has gone out of their way to destroy their legacy and every single successful or good game they've ever produced and to americanize the company. This is absolutely the progressive skinsuit in action.
>destroying the legacy
They're reviving all their old IPs outside of maybe a few like Killzone because they're making new IPs in the same genre.
Astro while it's a tech demo, everything from the demo was based on the previous game that was for PSVR.
I'm seriously tired of weeb homosexuals like you spewing shit about "legacy" when those games sold like shit compared to what theynproduce today. Your obsession with an asian island is blinding you to reality.
Just noticed that Astro is in the same pose as the Ape on the Ape Escape logo.
I really want them to show off this game they've been working on because it's been in production since before Japan Studio shutdown.
>Sony is making the Astrobot games it's main Platformer series now.
Astrobot is really underrated, so i can't say I'm upset by this either. Looking forward to it, day one purchase for me. I really loved playroom, i was disappointed when i finished it because i just wanted more.
>Less gimmicky controls.
Some of those were really well thought out though. I don't get the whole idea of games can't be good because of a gimmick, Ape Escape was designed around a gimmick for new tech as well.
Astro bots design just yells "safe" corporate mascot.
No age, no gender, no real personality. no change for a controversy
And Mario is just a fricking plumber. Please tell me how he is such an exotic and unique mascot
this is astrobot. A fricking white robot with monitor eyes. A complete blank slate from design, the most bland Mascot figure EVER. i find myself relating to mario, wanting to save my brother. Wanting to save my b***h. Mario is a working man, Hes a plumber, italian, and he likes eating italian food. yeah sure he isnt all the deep But he is a lot less bland than fricking astrobot.
You are being obtuse as frick. Mario is fat frick in overalls. Appearance wise he's nothing special and his background is nothing special. Your anecdotal bullshit doesn't change that. Claiming a small robot is unimaginative compared to a fat frick plumber is quite disengenious.
just look around you man. We are surrounded by technology and devices. in the future we will be in a monochromatic environment filled with white and grays. astrobot IS THAT. while mario is some fat guy, sure they are both pretty unimaginative. However i still prefer having some fat guy with a droplet (literally) of personalization, Than this Future mascot-Friendly robot.
You've watched too much sci fi to even go down that moronic route with that claim. Advanced technology isn't being delivered in Whites and Gray's and isn't even sleek most of the time. It's bulky, and typically comes in bland colors. Claiming astro bot is unimaginative when there has literally never been any other mascot of his make is disengenious as I said before and thank you for admitting that Mario is bland mascot
What do black people have to do with ape escape?
the only "controversy" i could imagine is they remakeing the games but race swap
>but race swap
You mean monkeys catching little girls? Might b cool
Great games and I miss them.
We know
Sexo.
For me, it's PAL Specter.
Felt so bad for Americans when I first discovered the NTSC voices
Had no idea these britbongs did this
WELL AT LEAST OUR SCHOOLS
>WOT are you TOLKING aboot, we haff to get all the MUNKEYS.
Non-Americans would really rather have this than Ash and Misty from Pokemon
Ape Escape is what got me into 3d as a hobby. Cute lil game, always holding that shit dear. 3 when?
What's holding up Ape Escape 3 is that they don't have functional PS2 emulation for PS5. The current port for 2 is also poor quality and that will likely get a new port once Sony rolls out it's new emulation programs.
My bad I meant to type 4 but a 3 remaster/release on playstation/steam or something would be sick.
Was it called something else cause I swear I didn't hear anything about a 4th game on ps3
4* lmao
Ape Escape 4 was on the PS3.
>2 have ash and misty
>3 has jimmy neutron
i think we got the better deal
Bros... what's that behind the netted monkey in the screenshot the top middle of the cover?
resident ape escape pedo poster needs to be locked to LULZ. homosexual
After what the monkeys put me through I want to just throw hands at a monkey untill its bleeding on the ground. Escape now, c**t.
the monkeys did nothing wrong
>stunlocks me with b***hy flailing punches
>Runs like an ass with rockets firing from their backpack in nerd monkey's case
>Trying to rape me in the case of Monkey Yellow
I'm chopping them up and selling them to the highest african bidder.
Emulated 3 recently and why didn't I remember that the mom was fine as frick
She's highly underrated
Her US voice actor sounds cute too
Think I was too busy trying to catch monke to notice
Must've been like 5 when I played
i was a bit older but it was more in the back of my mind when i played it because the general gameplay loop was extremely fun.
didn't help that a few years later i introduced myself to hentai doujins and am still trying to wean off from looking at at least one every day
i've heard pic related is kind of similar to ape escape but it also seems to be a bit like luigi's mansion where you have to suck them up while they're running around.
her alone probably sparked my love for big tiddy milfs back when i first played it as a kid
Blue Monkey had a thing for her in Big Mission
She's the aunt though isn't she? But yeah, she is stacked.
she's their aunt, idiots.
out of 10.
ailf, then
I only play the first game and have zero interest in the others, but yes I agree. AE1 is the best 3D platformer and best collectathon type game.
3 is really good
The transformations are great
SOUL
*BBZZZZZZTTTZTZZZZ*
and i present EXHIBIT B-UTT
Ive spent a good few minutes e-girlng at this surprisingly crisp HD gif here
got any more?
I don't have many, but I'll post the monkes I have.
last one I have actually lol
They sound like cutscene music. Not good at alll.
yeah that's what i feel about 2's soundtrack as well, even when i like the tracks they just don't fit in the series, and even if it did the soundfont choices most of the time are fricking awful, the fricking chipmunk vocal one being the worst.
>GET-CHU gwe gwe gwe gwe gwe gwe gweeeeeeeeee gwe
Soul
I think its suppose be a "pipo monkey" sample
>original japanese title theme that started in 2 is a truncated version of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URkhJXRtOyQ which instead only says saru getchu
>replace it with something else
>songs still say saru getchu, even the replaced title theme
i don't fricking get it
at least 3's replaced theme is just a simple and good crabby beach remix.
I feel like if Sony played their cards right here in the west they probably could've had these silly little monkies be huge like the minions
>me listening to the game soundtrack
This song makes me think of Sayaka.
we've already basically posted the entirety of 1's soundtrack so posting a couple of 2's that i don't think are bad, though still a far cry from 1 and 3's.
I'm grooving at the Time Station
Ape Escape should have been what Mario is for Nintendo and Sonic for sega
Shame
its so good
Is ape escape 1 in anyone else's top 5 favorite games ever? It and Onirism fight for my #1 spot. Probably forever, given i can't even name a SINGLE thing i don't like about ape escape, and Onirism's shape even in EA is nothing short of a french masterpiece to me. Literal chefs kiss to both these games.
>Onirism
does this actually even have anything going for it if you aren't a e-girlcon
actually I AM a e-girlcon and even I think the main girl looks ugly
solid 3d platformer with fun exploration, it's basically everything i liked in rayman but e-girl too.
She looked ugly, glad the main dev fixed her recently because it was surprising to see them stick with that old pugfaced model from the beginning.
>probably shouldn't have even mentioned that game because it's basically one of the banned titles on Ganker but oh well
not as banned as unteralterbach
AE3 had SOUL
for me it's the uk dub's
where is the new ape escape game. if they made a new super monkeyball they can make a new ape escape.
Hehehe, funne monke scream when I catch them with my bigass net.
The first one you idiot. The Ps1 has been easily emulatable ever since Duckstation.
aight, 1 it is.
I have a PS3 but it's the one WITHOUT backwards compatibility. Buying old games is overpriced anyway thanks to collectorgays.
>buying old games
>hasn't softmodded
oh nononono bros
>overpriced anyway
not ps1, thankfully. just the specific coomlector inflated games like symphony of the night.
you can still get ape escape complete in box, in great shape, for under $30.
treat yourself to a frickin softmodded PS1 for UNDER $100~ with controllers and you have a good frickin setup right there.
>inb4 how do i get other games?
CD-RS like the good ole days.
that's a meme, anon. All ps3s have ps1 disc compatibility, it's ps2 that gets "cut off"* (you can still run any compatible ps2 game through it's emulator if soft-modded like my ps3 slim is)
1 because it's the easiest to emulate and is a good starting point anyway. the other games are fun too but unless you don't care too much about texture issues or any of pcsx2's problems it's gonna cost a lot of money for the games plus a ps2 if you don't have the latter.
and people say he monkeys around. but he's too busy chilling to put anybody down
3 is by far the best, but 1 is still cool
2 is meh
MY homie HAS GOOD TASTE
the ape has escaped
if I remember right the PSP title was a sort of remake to 1 like Medievil on PSP.
buy it from Europe.
>continue scrolling ebay out of curiosity
>fricking ape escape 3 went down from $120~ to $50
WHY DO I HAVE TO BE FRICKING BROKE RIGHT NOW FFFFUUUCKK
Frick me moron just softmod
Why is this so hard to understand
It's not even hard
have a nice day Black person, i learned how to install modbo's and run a pink hardmodded jap ps2 with a loaded hard drive AND working laser that i cleaned up, AND lubricated the drive, enabling it to smoothly open and close.
But you didn't, otherwise you would be playing Ape Escape right now instead of crying about ebay prices
Well I'll be playing my PS1 and 2 library at no cost while you seethe about ebay
I don't get it homosexual, what was your point here? Why did a playful post about ebay prices set you off? I can't install modbos AND enjoy my hobby by buying the legit games and continuing my library?
man nuGanker is fricking bizarre.
i still don't get why you homosexuals would be angry at me here
Is that Ryan Gosape?
he's literally me
You are 1 dumb ass gorilla Black person
>Hes literally me
>he's literally me.
Thanks for the laugh anons lol
>he is literally me
>on the loose is a solid improvement to every aspect of ae1
>crippled by controls
such is life
you keep saying that as if anyone is playing it on a PSP these days.
you can't play it with original controls even on emulators
you can always map camera controls to a second stick, frick off moron.
anon have you ever played ps1/2 ape escapes
tell me what the left stick does
Sayaka's butt will never have the 2023 standard amount of polygons. What a depressing existence.
>keeps releasing Ape 1 and 2 as pal-only versions in all regions.
>the one time they re-released 3 was JP only as a ps3 classic.
pretty based of sony to keep fricking over the pedo Americans.
>game has girl in it
>normalgay instantly goes to pedophilia
I will never understand this
bump
there's still apes on the loose you gays what's taking you so long to catch them
oh no my apes escaped
2>1>3
With 2 having the American dub. Their voices just fit for a platformer based around catching things.
ALL MY APES ARE GONE
i have one hundred games
I would love to play all the spinoffs but cant read those runes
>bastard!shesuckin
????
its an inside joke… You wouldn’t get it…
When I played 3 first I thought the form changes were lame. Then I did the survival mode and embraced them and I think it's my favourite to play. 1 is still the king of aesthetics and music.
I remember 3 having weak bosses that kind of just end, also the story in 3 is kind of stupid. 1 has the best story and motivation for specter, while 2s is just a simple story that's serviceable for the gameplay
just finished my moon rune practice sesh for tonight (its 5 am). in 3 years i will play saru get you 3 on ps3 psn
Why do all the black guys have red light on their heads?
SOUL
Uuum, sweaty, I see no "Super Mario" or "Nintendo", so no, it can't be the best 3D platformer ever made.
Mario Odyssey better
i played 1 on ps4 and the controls are goddamn unresponsive, clunky and shit
is it the ps4's emulation?
yes
