Nomura created Kingdom Hearts which is a major franchise for Square-Enix, and XIV is still making good money. Firing them over two PS5 exclusives flopping makes no sense. If anything they need to fire whichever dumbass executive that keeps making their games exclusives, they should have learned after Rise of the Tomb Raider.
This really was the last mainline FF that had any heart put into it. 16 and 7 are just cynical cashgrabs but you can tell the 15 team put their soul into the game.

What’s the competition? And unfinished slog like XII? XIII’s garbled story and bland characters? XVI isn’t even a fricking RPG. And let’s not even go into the marvel tier shit that is the remakes of 7. So yes, I do think that XV is the best FF since X.

XV will never ever be able to shake having a fricked up mess of a story where half of it is ripped out into movies and dlcs. But it has the strongest FF heart as a video game of any that have come out since the golden age. The amount of unique high quality secret dungeons to find and explore in XV with cool bosses and enemies is insane. There's so much to go down and you really feel like an old school rpg party camping out and prepping and gearing up and going on adventures together. There's a reason why despite it's headache inducing bullshit it has big sales and a huge cult fandom still going

16 doesn't even have a day/night cycle? what's with modern open world games omitting this? so weird.
in theory if you don't do a day/night cycle you can make your graphics look better by baking everything out and hiding flaws in indirect lighting. But with that being said, XV's lighting system is pretty good even compared to a lot of modern games
it's weird how this feature in most games back in the day is largely neglected and most people don't seem to even care. same thing with basic shit like being able to grab ledges, which I don't think even the ff7 games allow you to do. why do these games take like 50 years in development again? it sure isn't implementing/playtesting in depth game mechanics. I guess traveling the world and taking pictures of rocks to use as textures takes a lot of effort.
the more your target realism with graphics the more work grows and spirals out of control exponentially. In new zeldas you can basically free climb anything in the world you want, but loads of those animations and hook ups would fly in a game where things like hyper detailed and realistic, so you work for years to try and get it right or scrap it altogether. In the newest 7 game's defense there's a decent bit more to the exploration of the world than XVI with different types of vehicles and chocobos that can climb/swim/glide etc. but you still have to do stupid yellow paint uncharted climbing
nope I prefer 16 100 percent both I would not replay 15 ever again I rather play 13 or the other older entries.

The only reason anyone hates XV is because it wasn’t the Versus XIII they had built up in their heads for years.
I used to hate this one but after the absolute abortions of Remake, XVI, and Rebirth, XV doesn’t look so bad anymore.

SS is perfectly fine and I'm tired of people overreacting to it. not every game in the series needs to be the one you like best repeated over and over. that's why TP got so much criticism, for trying too hard to chase that OOT dragon, and failing miserably, instead of ecking out its own identity.
