apparently it got a release date for 2024 april. do you think this will help spur CA to change their ways? i dont think so, as nice as the battles look, its still a city builder and not at all like total war.

based Slavic Magic, for years he israeliteed the EU for shekels with his vaporware, only to use those shekels to create a pretty dope game
early access
>apparently it got a release date for 2024 april
I expect one of the three at least now:
- actual release not happening until 2026, given their track record so far
- horrendous crunch time to try to squeeze it by June 2024
- abysmal release state that's ridden with bugs so bad, the game will be unplayable and burn any kind of goodwill before patch is even outlined
And there is a solid chance of at least 2 of those happening together
This poster may have the crystal ball. Play Land of the Vikings anyway, it's a better game & it's actually available
>it's a better game
anon, at BEST it's a slightly more polished piece of dog shit. At worst it's a half-baked stillborn
the demo LAST YEAR was solid. I don't know why people seem to have a hate boner against this game
>its a scam! its vaporware!
>it will never release!
>A game in dev for 5 years
>Barely deivers a semi-functional demo after 4 years
>Dev has history of being a scam artist
And that without even bringing out the genuine burn out effect the whole fricking industry has toward project like this. At this point all this game needs is a KS or similar campaign, and it's a surefire scam
thousands of people have played it already. its real.
Nta, but DEMO being real doesn't make GAME real.
See - Shroud of the Avatar, probably the most prominent case in last few years
Shroud was self-published. An outside publisher isn't going to let you run a scam under their noses.
>An outside publisher isn't going to let you run a scam under their noses.
Hahahahahahahahahaha....
Oh wait, you are serious!
MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
All the hooded horse boomer does is get scammed
Thousands of people have played a demo. A demo that took four fricking years to make. A demo that has less than 2 hours of most basic gameplay.
So yeah, a short demo showcasing most basic gameplay is real. The path from there to actually making the game happen? Especially at the pace seen so far? The game won't be ready until 2040, and that assuming it is going to happen at all.
I mean where the frick you have been past decade or so, to still have this wide-eyed approach to indie devs overselling promises and having snail pace of working?
Rule of a thumb: if an indie game isn't replicating Dawn of Man dev cycle or isn't a ready-for-release project requiring fine tuning in tune of Stardew Valley, it's a scam one way or another. Or maybe not even a scam, just overshot of ambitions vs. actual capabilities. The only exception out of this is in games that can't even be generously stretched into strategy genre in any way (like Wasteland 3, which is a tacticool RPG)
>requiring fine tuning in tune of Stardew Valley
>made me check the forum
>upcoming 1.6 update
That homie truly is an autist among autists, kek. Gaben bless his little heart.
Also I hear this game is developed by a single dude which is a huge red flag.
I remember clearly an italian dev called him out on twitter because he was using free assets (I think it was the main tower of the castle) and he called the fanboy army to insult the dev instead of addressing it
>use other people work
>REEEEEEEEEEEEE
>use other people work you paid for
>FRICK YEAH
I really do not understand hateboner for asset stores or free assets in general.
The problem with using free assets in a paid game is that they usually get licensed in a way ("copyleft") that lets them be used for free only so long as the work they're used in is also available for free. No idea if that was also the case here.
A lot of the hate on asset use in general is because a lot of people have mixed up developers using bought/free assets with the asset flip model where developers put out a near zero effort clone of somebody else's work. But there is a fair point that asset use tends to result in mismatched art styles as bought assets won't match each other as well as a set of custom made ones will.
Didnt he say he was just using it for the demo and development so he could fo us on other things? It makes sense to use free graphic assets while you are trying to get the code base right.
That might still count as commercial use, given it's advertising a non-free product. But I'm no lawyer.
The real reason why people get so worked up about it, at least in case of this game, is because it took fricking forever to even get a lousy demo going, and it's an asset flip.
In other words: people are expecting a scam, which builds up to the hateboner everyone has toward both this game and the genre in general. Manor Lord's main fault is not that it is trying too hard. It's just a smacking kid for a whole lot of issues with indie dev coming together, and the fact the dev in this case is very well known for running scams prior only adds fuel to the fire. Asset flip and lengthy delays with nothing of actual value being delivered are pretty much red-flags of things going bad.
>NOOOOOOOO NOT MY HECKIN CRUNCHERINO!!!
I don't give a shit, go back to plebbit. No sympathy for troon devs. The more they suffer the better.
... did you even read the post you've replied to?
I don't care what CA makes of it, but it looks very promising. I swear I saw this game like two years ago and it looked like another generic survival/crafting game, but maybe I'm mistaking it for something different.
Are you thinking of Medieval Dynasty?
it looks like it will work like shit on any PC
>will help spur CA to change their ways
Why would it? You do realise manor lords is a completely different niche than TW right? It's closer to stronghold and settlers.
I really don't understand the people discussing this game. Both the fanbase and the hatebase are just bizarre. The fanbase make weird comparisons and pumps it up as some massively innovative game. The hatebase gets mad at a dev not making his own assets and it taking too long, and being early access. Like practically every other modern city building game, even the mainstream ones?
From playing the demo, I found it to be a standard city builder with some interesting ideas in it, have no idea how it will pan out in the end, or if it will any staying power, but I don't get the excessive praise and hate.
>standard
literally everything else is a 1:1 banished clone
And every fps a wolfenstein 3d clone
