Lots of expectations, plus the dudes making it are still just dudes and are enjoying their money. It will come out when it's finished or if they need more money, whichever comes first.

Last I heard it was because hornet is bigger so it makes designing the map way harder but that was years ago.

Can't they just pull back the camera?

maybe that just means they cant reuse parts from hollow knight

Pulling back the camera would feel extremely off, and it would frick up the sense of scale. hornet is supposed to be larger and more potent

maybe that just means they cant reuse parts from hollow knight

Last I heard it was because hornet is bigger so it makes designing the map way harder but that was years ago.

As far as ive heard, that wasnt a problem for silksong. The issue was with the original plan : Trying to make a hornet DLC, where they didnt notice the environments being knight-sized means they dont fit hornet
i assume the main problem would be the much bigger mobility & a ton more gear that can lead to sequence breaks and access to shit. They tried very hard to keep this balance where there was ample room for unexpected shortcuts and tricks while being unable to straight up break the game and ruin progression, which is probably made a lot harder with hornet's moveset

They fricked up something big during development and they went "well, since we are already late on schedule, better add some new things". Several times, probably.

One of the devs trooned out, the team started to hate each other and the project is dead in the water.

Do they really need someone to make an excel spreadsheet for them?

It will never live up to the hype and the devs know it. They took too long to finish it, they fricked up big time. It would be better to just scrap the project and move to a new IP.

      >They took too long to finish it
Why pretend like the game won't completely dominate all media feeds and this board whenever it releases?
People will be more than excited.

I will never understand the doomposting over silksong.
    >First game is bigger with more content and interconnection than nearly every metroid-like more released
    >they had to cut out many of the things they wanted because they were poor and had to deliver the game to kickstarter funders

    >now they have infinite money, time and autism
    >they want to make it much bigger than the first game with far more mechanics
i dont get why you'd be surprised its taking this long, theres nothing out of the expected

Big doesn't automatically mean good. A game can in fact be too big and overstay its welcome so to speak. Whereas Hollow Knight was great in its simplicity, Silksong could easily add way too many features, making it into an unfocused, confusing chore of a game to play.

yes, that is true, but that has nothing to do with how long the game takes, really
It doesnt matter whether they add too much (as you describe) or if they keep HK's simplicity. The end result is that the game still takes forever regardless. even if they bloat it to hell in the worst case scenario, it wouldnt even add that much to the playtime because its mostly just the raw areas and envinroments, plot etc, which are much bigger than the first game.

The potential for them to bloat the game primarily comes from all the new supports they added (sidequests, hunts, gear and other new forms of progressing and becoming more powerful), which generally takes less effort than the actual core of the game

Hallownest is already too big for some people but I'm the opposite. It would be next to impossible for these Aussie fricks to make too much game. I will take as much bug adventure as they can serve up.

Feature creep. They fell for the bigger is better meme. It’s gonna be a bloated mess if it ever comes out.

They don't release it to troll the indie scene, who live in constant fear that Silksong will be dropped near the release of their own indie games.

It's my fault. Whenever they start making progress I go to the office and "accidentally" delete a month or two of work. Gets me every time.
