Simple as. In the army they appoint a female as first captain of West Point every four years to meet their goal of at least 15% femoid representation (matching roughly the % of women in the military). In the army itself you deal with senior officers who drive drunk, are incompetent, rude, etc. but they still get promoted faster than anyone else because there are no other blacks/women/etc. to promote instead. Then all the members of these privileged groups begin to understand that no matter what they do, they’ll still get the promotion and things go to hell. The only way to avoid it is to:
A.) repeal the civil rights act, recognize that freedom of association also means freedom to NOT associate with people you dislike
B.) work at/own a small company where you fly under the radar and are exempt from these racial quotas (inb4 “there’s no quota, it’s just that the government’s 9000 lawyers will sue you into bankruptcy if you promote white men who are competent”).

I work at a AAA, and I've yet to meet a single diversity hire. Very high performance and merit required. I would never tell you which one though.

did you actually have the experience level they want for the role? I take it you didn't apply for a senior position if you only have 3 years of AAA experience as a code monkey. You might have gone up against candidates who had more work experience.
