2's world is impressive for how much there is that is optional and you wouldn't even know otherwise until you've finished the game and understand what the actual barriers are. It's quite impressive, and is a lot of fun to explore upon replays. I can see why some may find 3's world to be stifling in comparison, but there are still interesting biomes that are on the fringes of the critical path that are worthwhile visiting that many anons may even miss altogether. Different design approach is all.
All KF games provide deep insight into the Fromsoft design methodology. 2 and 4 are my favorites but I do recommend at least trying and starting with 1. 3 is more like a romp around the kingdom Zelda style (like climbing a tree with many dead end branches for you to scour to help you towards your destination), I do think it has some interesting and fun ideas and is a VERY solid conclusion to the trilogy. Real ones also Play Shadow Tower (best of the PS1 titles), ST:Abyss, and Echo Night
Welcome to 90s localization. I understand that they were really unsure about KF selling at all so it makes sense the first title wasn't even considered, but I don't think people ever cared about numbered order to begin with for most shit and just pick what looks interesting so re numbering titles to avoid confusing customers never made sense to me
I would have just given it some subtitle or changed it entirely, like King's Field Lyle edition, much less confusion in my opinion than mixing up numbers
I played them all back to back a couple of years ago in emulation for the first time and it was pretty fun (I made tweak improvements in resolution and in-emulator overclocking to prevent slowdowns they had on real hardware and such but nothing fundamental like a mouse hack). They're all very short and simple so it's not that big a commitment; playing all four takes about as long as most individual big rpgs. And I did the shadow tower games too. I probably would have been a little butthurt if I'd played them in the 90s because they are so short
*I have played old armored core every once in a while for a long time so the kf control scheme doesn't give me a brain cramp, you may need some significant acclimation time otherwise
I have physical copies of 2(actually 3, I guess) and 4. Haven't gotten around to playing them just grabbed them from thrift shops almost ten years ago when I was a dark souls sperg. I just never have my PS2 set hp these days.
I thought I was buying 1(2) but when I got home and opened the box it was 2(3).
yes
2 is also pretty cool
1 and 3 just don't have enough interconnectivity to keep them interesting
2 is the worst KF game by far
3 is up there with 4
>interconnectivity
Reddit Souls drone detected, no wonder you posers jerk off to KF2
shut up moron, 3 sucks
back toooo Reddit, Sekiro
3 has a pretty cool endgame sequence and is a nice sendoff for the PS1 trilogy. But otherwise, 2 and 4 are my favorite ones.
Not RPG, it's a asiatic bootleg. Go play 'Arx Fatalis'. You will get filtered.
>Arx Fatalis
>Not Ultima Underworld
>Not Wizardry
Like I said, they will get filtered.
>Wizardry
LMAO. Stay unwashed.
least moronic WRPG player
>anime moron fell for bait
lmfao couldn't make this shit up if i wanted
Arx Fatroony sucked ass, Dark Messiah on the other hand was more streamlined and linear but it was at least good

I never know -which- KF1 and 2 people are talking about in these threads, why did they frick up the titles so hard

no one gave a shit about numbering

kf4 is the only decent one. you are warned. the rest are dummed down versions of ultima underworld without the sim elements.

I mean even 4 plays exactly like the rest so why not?
