You posted it. If I can make progress (not a ton mind you) after watching my brother for 5 minutes as an 8 year old and have an enjoyable time, pretty sure anyone who digs this kind of game would like Exodus and it also has a god tier soundtrack on NES.
I’m sure there are min max guides out there for it. I think the point is to go into dungeons and get marks? I only ever got one mark, I will say that outside of purchasing my mount in vanilla WoW, probably the most epic adventure I’ve gone on in video games to get a horse.
I would actually read an intro guide or maybe a pdf of the manual because I’m pretty sure it’s essential to have something like a thief for disabling traps etc since u deal w a lot of that in dungeons iirc
I'm not one to recommend watching a let's play, but if you are having trouble figuring out how to get started, watching someone else play for a little while may give you an idea of how to get going. Read manuals and don't be afraid to jump in and mess around, then restart once you get a feel for it. These things have helped me play all of the older Ultima games on pc and to play the original Wasteland. Some of these games can feel overwhelming at first, but they are worth spending the time to figure out.
yes the Sega Master (genesis) version of Ultima IV is considered the best, simply because its easier to play on a gamepad than with a keyboard.
oh and it has smooth scrolling, unlike the janky computer versions
Why couldn't computers do scrolling
they could https://youtu.be/d0DRzkckBTI?t=143
but why would they
Smooth scrolling in a turn based game.
God this fricking thread is horrible. Go back, zoomers.
The master system is the one before the genesis.
yep, my bad.
any recommended standalone sms emulator for windows?
(I'm not interested in retroarch/libretro)
>Ultima? Let me tell you about Ultima.
Wasn't spoony supposed to make a comeback?
I really should get around to watching that legendary review. its like 5 hours long right?
Remember when you could talk about any video game and not have homosexuals try to make the thread about homosexual e-celebrities?
No.
homosexual e-celebrities are borderline if not completely retro, my dude.
No, they are not. This board is for retro video games, not e-celebs, and you are a fricking off-topic shitposter who deserves a ban.
I don't know but I intend to find out.
They say the user lives outside the net, and inputs games for pleasure. No one knows for sure
>but I intend to find out.
REBOOT!
The Ultima III Ultima IV ports are pretty good. The Ultima VI and VII ports are terrible.
Not a port. Runes of Virtue was Gameboy exclusive.

Your pic was a good port.
Exodus was good, but Quest of the Avatar was incredible. Its still my favorite NES game to this day
any recommendation for someone playing those versions for a first time and who's never played Ultima? Or is it fine to go in blind?

The thief isn't essential, but it makes grinding take a lot less time.

1 and 2 are trash. Play NES 3 then PC or Master System 4 and play 5-7 and Underworld and stop there.
>Underworld
No thanks. That game is not a good experience.
