There is zero reason not to have a convenient auto function in a turn-based RPG.

    Only for farming, yes.
We have jobs and all of them are different, people too tired to get on a game just to farm dailies, people also lose motivation when they face High Level difficulty battles and use everything on Farming.

Yes, because Skip function are way better.

      This.
A lot of gacha games I've dropped over the last few years have just been the same
      >Start stage, hit auto and wait for it to clear takes 20 minutes
and the ones I kept with
      >Go to stage click skip x times and be done with it
Skip just generally works better in daily grinding.
I will genuinely view a game with a skip option but you are forced to manual play the first time as superior to one that you can set to auto the first time but have to auto clear it every time after.

This is a feature found in already terrible games so it can't do any worse.

They're good because they allow easening the burden of farming for people who have no time
They're bad because they enable devs to keep farming in the game

they're a mainstay in gachas because most gachas have terrible gameplay that the players don't actually want to play

Yes if it makes it so I have no gameplay input.
No if the game builds around the moronic AI going rogue and forces you to manage your initial positioning and skills and units in a way that would make them hold the formation and fight effectively.

I'd really love to see an auto-battler type game where the idea is to set up the AI itself, rather than selecting gear/skills for the characters

Skip and auto functions should be mandatory for any repetitive task.
If it's not new in any way, forcing manual play is just tedium.
Gacha games are not mechanically good enough to make the same fight interesting, especially since the gacha format generally restricts what you can use and incentivizes you to build/improve the same old teams.

auto features should be mandatory for gacha
i dont want to manually grind everyday, which is like 90% of the gameplay in gachashit games
thats why star rail definitely feels a lot better than genshit

I don't play gachas for pure gameplay. If it doesn't have any convenient features to cut the time it takes to do chores then it fails as a side game.

what do you play gachas for then? coming from someone who isn't into the genre. Is it just the high of waifu gambling

Something to do while taking a shit.

Yes. It should be a requirement at this point unless you need few clears to farm like in Star Rail.

nta, but it depends. I appreciate games like Epic 7, Star Rail or the late Dragalia even though they don't have skip tickets. Something about the gameplay is satisfying enough to keep me motivated. Yet stuff like BA, which has skip tickets, doesn't because gameplay is non existent outside of two modes

I wish there were gacha games with more reasonable gameplay so that they didnt need an auto or a skip button. Its stupid to have to do the same stage on repeat for weeks if not months at a time.

Does not compute. Gacha's profitability hinges on tedium that annoys you to the point you open your wallet to get what you want. Any conveniences it has exist only to prevent you from getting too pissed off to carry on and to keep you addicted. And in the end, Asians, the primary market for this crap, are perfectly accustomed to dealing with this, and don't really need any more gameplay to go with the jpegs. Hell, anons in this thread treat the grind and the farming like it's the most normal thing to exist, and only want more means to have the game play itself without their input.

I don't consider it grind when you don't do shit like kill enemies for drops in Genshin. That takes real time away from you and is clearly just.. grind.

What most gacha do isn't grind, but simulation. You spend resources and gain other things for it. It's just done in a long term way. But this can have its appeal, as your decisions have real weight. For the vast majority of players, money can't help you here either.
It's also rarely heavily sold. Like you can whale as much as you want on jpegs, but try doing that for character or account exp. All that is a lot more limited available. You can still do that, to an extend, but there are often hard limits. Be it stage limits where you can run a stage only X times per day, no matter what, be it with energy where there's refresh limits or whatever really.

It's not called bonsaige without reason. You slowly raise your account. The appeal is likely lost with the more zoomy generation that need things NOW.

As for auto battle, it's a worse way of skip. I think it's the absolute least, but skip should be the standard. Downside of skip is only if you have no regular content. People should see their characters on a regular basis, otherwise the bonsaige fails. It's like raising a bonsai without ever seeing it..

Nah. It's nice for farming and multi-tasking.

there's an optimal amount of automation/skipping type QOL features imo
if there's none or too little, any farming or grinding is bound to end up being mind-numbing boredom.
if there's too much the gameplay will just eventually be replaced with the player pressing a button and occasionally watching a number go up like it's a tarted-up spreadsheet program.
