No, and that's a good thing.
>you NEED a manual to play
shit game
What's with this youtuber bullshit? Is everyone moronic now?
I figured it out with no manual at 10 years old or so. Made a shit character, got rekt by the starting rats, thought about it, rerolled with high agility and had a playable character. For F2 I refined that and got close to the usual small guns character everyone makes
Jesus what a shit game. At least the 'stealth archer' play style in Skyrim was optional.
the duality of people who died to a rat in the first cave
They aren't impossible to play, at all. People just do not have the patience to actually try. My first Fallout was 3, and I have played 1 and 2 repeatedly.
You definitely don't need the manual. The game's not Ultima, where you're required to know hotkeys to get anywhere. Generally speaking, Fallout's interface is pretty streamlined, to the point where it's possible to play with just the mouse.
If anyone actually read the manual they'd realize the first game is just a simulation created by Vault-Tec to train dwellers before they go to the surface.
It's not even accessible to the millennial audience. You have to have an attention span for these bad larrys.
I'm 23 and have beaten both multiple times, fangames too. They aren't even hard, just run up to stuff and punch it. People my age are just shit at games that aren't like Dark Souls.
Yes. It’s pretty simple as far as CRPGs go
Yes. You might need a walkthrough if you've never played a CRPG or any older video game before but there's nothing in it that would be too much for your average moderately-interested zoomer.
No. Even for me who like old games, there is lots of clunky stuff that I don't like.
You have to read walls of text, think about your build and take your own decisions.
Not a snowball chance in hell.
I'm a millennial and it's inaccessible for me. I tried playing once and died to a rat in the first cave as soon as I left the vault. Uninstalled, there's absolutely no excuse for that shit.
You should be fricking ashamed legitimately
You’re a fricking vegana
>have to hope rng gives you a good character to progress past the first enemy
Nah that's absolute garbage game design.
>have to hope rng gives you a good character to progress past the first enemy
What am I even reading? Does this homie not know how to make a fricking fallout character?
Why would I remember anything about a game that sucks ass, let alone one I played for only 20 minutes a decade ago?
Lmao what a dumb b***h
I have too much useful information to keep worthless shit about some garbage old game just to please some moronic homosexuals on an anonymous forum. have a nice day.
how can you attempt to comment on game design if your memory is so bad you started to imagine systems that aren't there? There is no rng involved in character creation
The character creation wasn't the thing that made me drop the game, why would I remember anything about it? I just remember the rat hitting me while I could do nothing and dying then closing the game and uninstalling it.
then why post this if you literally cannot remember
>>have to hope rng gives you a good character to progress past the first enemy
>Nah that's absolute garbage game design.
moron
>there's absolutely no excuse for that shit.
I couldn't agree more, in my day people like you were put in special homes to stop them mixing with the wider population
>provides no excuse for that shit
And people like you would go off to war and get killed while I fricked your wife
If you treat video games that seriously in relation to real life achievement, you should be the ones who's institutionalized.
No I'm 20 and died to the same rat was talking about. It doesn't help that the only turn based game I've ever played is the stick of truth
Why did you fight the rat when it was obviously superior and you didn't need to?
How do you die to the rats, that's like dying to a mudcrab in Morrowind
I got through it to the first big town but couldn't really figure out where to go from there. I wanted to join the caravan but didn't really have the gear.
I'm a zoomer and I love original Fallouts. The only problem is that the combat is painfully slow even for a turn based game. Also, there's gay marriage.
couldn't you turn combat speed up? I remember all animations moving crazy fast
It's still very slow when you're fighting a lot of enemies and having lots of companions.
I never used a companion once while playing FO1, what did I miss?
Getting friendly fire burst shot killed a lot
In my experience they waste all the ammo/healing you give them and die. I've never found them to be worth it, I just sell the ammo and use the healing myself.
Agony
>what did I miss?
If you have Ian in your party he'll have a text pop up when you visit various places in the wasteland, like when you're about to enter junktown he'll give you a short opinion about it or in hub he says a thing or two about different shops places or people.
I'm still surprised how easy this game is still to this very day. The only issue is when the Super Mutants come in but by the time they're raiding you kinda maybe encounter SOME, but the second you get a decent gun and power armor the game is over.
I don't see why not. It doesn't have the WOL stuff that makes modern games more accessible, but it's not too different than a game like baldur's gate 3
the penultimate scene in the finale really felt like an homage to this
This looks like AI shit
no looks quite good
>posts a pic of current day LA with some cringe steampunk airship in the sky
yeah they're on steam and gog. you can buy physical for pretty cheap too.
They are on myabandonware, so yeah
1 and 2 are extremely accessible and way easier compared to earlier CRPGs so yes
t. 22 years old and beat both by the time I was 15
Yes
t. zoomer that beaten both games multiple times
I had a friend of mine preaching to me about the themes and messaging of Fallout, saying how the show nailed it because it focused on wacky humour and anti-capitalist messaging with vault tec plotting to destroy the world etc. and how it showed the communists were in the right.
You guessed it, he had played four Fallout games in his life, and three of those were made by Bethesda (the other was NV).
>satire IP becomes the thing it used to satirize
Many such cases
I haven't played since I was a child and I'm pretty sure I have brain rot, how the frick do I vats?
If you click the icon of your weapon it'll change firing modes, one of the modes is vats
I seem to have taken fast shot without really thinking about the whole "no time to aim thing" oops
>390 KB JPG
>Are Fallout 1-2 accessible
Yes
>to the zoomer audience?
Who cares?
Who cares?
Yes
t. zoomer
I killed the rats in FO1 but couldn't figure out how to progress after that. Uninstalled.
Fallout 2's tutorial has filter countless generation. Zoomers aren't immune to it.
FO2's tutorial isn't really a "filter" given that it's actually dogshit.
I'm literally in the process of replaying the game and the entire beginning portion is ridiculously tedious. Even if you tag melee or unarmed and lure enemies into the light, you still spend half an hour missing every other swing.
The smart way to do temple of trials is to run past everything, go to klamath acquire a weapon that isn't complete trash like spiked knuckles or 10mm pistol and then go back to arroyo and quickly clean up the temple, your combat potential at level 2 or 3 with gear is exponentially higher, like 10x better than level 1.
>give Sulik the super sledge
>spend the remainder of the game chasing enemies around because every one of his swings sends enemies flying 10+ hexes back
>>give Sulik the super sledge
Rookie mistake.
Sulik is for Ripper or Powerglove
Fallout has always only been accessible to fricking morons regardless of generation
