My 6-year-old son has declared that he and I are gamers and loves Roblox and Minecraft. I think the anti gamer stuff comes from a similar place as the other anti social feminist propaganda targeting "white, male spaces" which need to be "diversified" according to the control freaks.

There's several reasons but primarily most people don't recognize that the presuppositions/premises for their assertions, facts, or science are also taken on faith and are unsubstantiated, unsatisfying, figurative, and/or incoherent etc. Merely beliefs like belief in a God. The kind of people you refer to have strongly identified with these beliefs and mistaken them for self-evident truths/facts inherent to reality. Some people also suppress an uncomfortable intuition about this. Then the beliefs are solidified into frameworks used to justify and make sense of themselves and their life. Hence the projection and antipathy.
