2 nukes = that
3 nukes = ???
imagine the uooh
This is the best argument for a third bomb I've ever heard. Let's get it done.
one was too many
2 were not enough
A world where anime means uncensored hentai
I want that umbrella.
They were. Now all games are trash.
There was a time they were but nowadays even slavs make better games
Yes they are better. The reason there's a "bias" in the first place is because they really are just objectively better. Weebs exist for a reason. You think it's because they appreciate the culture and history of Japan? Sure, maybe they learn about it later but weebs are weebs because of games and anime. If Japs weren't better at games than the west, weebs would only be like half as common as they are.
What kind of logic is this? Japanese games and anime are niche. They are despised by the general population. By your logic there should be more weebs than people who like western games and cartoons etc.
Okay, so then where are the weeb equivalents for countries like Vietnam or China? Why are there coincidentally no common terms for people who obsess over any countries besides the one pumping out games and anime?
Not those two countries specifically and not that anon but top of the dome:
>westaboos
>wehraboos
>wiggers
>plastic paddies
And before you cry that two of those are linguistically derived from weaboo, don't forget that weaboo itself is a wordfilter corruption of wapanese, a derivation of wigger.
>Japanese games and anime are niche. They are despised by the general population.
not anymore. anime is as normalgay as capeshit
There are lots of popular Japanese games, i.e. Nintendo, Capcom, Namco are all popular Japanese publishers. And manga has been outselling comic books for a while.
What the hell do you think Japanese games are? Lots of classic and well-known franchises were made by the japanese.
>Japanese games and anime are niche
you aren't this moronic right?
> "Japanese games and anime are niche."
Nintendo singlehandedly resurrected the gaming industry in the mid 80s after the west absolutely fricked it up.
The overwhelming majority of western developed games from the mid 80s~mid 90s were noticeably of lower quality than those made in Japan.
Try again, zoomer.
By that same logic, capeshit is better that normal movies
Modern Cinema? Yeah, maybe. Have you seen the garbage coming out now?
not that anon but you just made me realize this was the last movie I went to see
It felt like a syfy original with slightly higher budget but Im kind of autistic over crocs so I enjoyed it regardless if I had to resist nitpicking over incorrect stuff
fug
Lol, this movie was actually pretty funny. Not a good movie, but I thought it was worth a few ironic laughs.
5/10
>$13 Million budget
Well frick. Hollywood films really do have bloated budgets conpared to their quality, don't they?
>"Aja is set to direct a live action adaptation of the manga series Space Adventure Cobra".
Frick. I didn't think Crawl was very good, but a live action Cobra film would still unironically be more interesting than the SW sequels.
Their games aren't better
They just have a visual style with exaggerated emotional expression that appeals to those with autism
i was thinking about that the other day. Japanese games are style over subtance (persona 5, dragon quest, suda and swery games, etc) meanwhile western games is about adding every amount of content they can (fallout, skyrim, any fortnite type of game that have a shit ton of costumes) even if it doesn’t fit the game (GoW having RPG elements, the 272729 collectables in every open world, etc)
>(fallout, skyrim, any fortnite type of game that have a shit ton of costumes
How are those not "style over substance?" Skyrim and Fallout have extremely unengaging gameplay, everything is just copy/pasted ensuring there are no unique encounters and no challenges and no fun. But
>oooooh fantasy dragons and post-apocalypse!
anon read my post. i said big ammount of content, not good content. skyrim and fallout are known for be big and having a shit ton of mission and quest and shit to do. you’re right their gameplay is mediocre. the few japanese people that play western game gets impressed over how big theses games are. but i mist admit fallout is another case of “style over substance” with post apocaliptic/50s mic they do
It's not "style over substance" if the style also leads to the gameplay being fun. A single, linear, tightly-designed and 90% enjoyable experience is infinitely preferable to an open world that only has truly good chances of being enjoyable for the 10-20% of the time you're doing a properly linear and curated sequence of events.
>It's not "style over substance" if the style also leads to the gameplay being fun.
most japanese games are rpg, anon. and the gameplay on thoses aren’t that fun. Only nintendo game and action character games (dmc, bayonetta, ninja gaiden) are fun. The rest you play them to experience the story or because the do something innovative/unique enough that makes you play it, even if in the end is pretry jank, like suda and swery games
No, they're not. Most Japanese games aren't RPGs at all.
That aside, I like JRPG gameplay. Sometimes it requires me to do something weird to be truly fun but it's usually at least enjoyable.
well maybe i was harsh saying that all jap games are rpg like it is a bad thing. Tactical JRPG are cool, and a lot of game does intersting stiff with the genre like Kingdom Hearts and Twetty
Anon, you’re not getting me. Even mostly standard JRPGs are good. The whole nine yards: Four party members, turn based, elemental spells, MP systems, armor and shit. I had more fun with fricking SMTIVA than I did with Skyrim.
Jap games have ludo substance and DQ and Persona have style + ludo substance. You either or lack-wits make me sick.
people are biased
both sides make shit and bad games. The thing is that nowdays western games have pozzed shit, and people want tonplay vidya to inmerse, so bringing up irl politics ruin the experience. Japan doesn’t do that so nowdays japs makes a better experience, even if still prefer to play western games nowdays because i am dumb dumb i guess
>Americans actively joke about bombing a country twice
>They call people edgelords for joking about 9/11
Why are they like this bros?
>America is one person
>America is one person
>assuming random people are American
Obsessed
Normalgays are unable to handle the fact that some people are more creative than them so they have to attribute to an external event. With Japanese creatprs, it's because they got nuked; with western creators, it's "What drugs were they on?" It's not a "joke", it's the insecurity of consumers who lack imagination.
They aren't pozzed and generally distinct enough from western games to be interesting without having the low quality that non-Whites usually put out
sums it up pretty well
>Moving back to Japan in less than a month to seduce the woman who molested me as a teenager
Wish me luck gays
Do you disapprove
I recognize that guy
have fun
Nice doujinshi story anon. I hope she's married so you can NTR her husband.
She's single, and from what I know of her hasn't even dated since I left. We were really close even after the time she diddled so I'm hoping that means I've got a real shot at this.
As a youth in the early-mid 2000s, I liked the more colourful and imaginative japanese games while the west was making either crime sims (GTA) or grimdark military sims (CoD).
>New Hampshire Democratic State Representative Nickolas Levasseur wrote on his personal Facebook page "anime is a prime example of why two nukes just wasn't enough.."
They're just better than mutt games but then again: pretty much anyone is better at making games than mutts.
They generally are better, yes.
Anyone noticed that the only games that get remembered are the japanese ones? Like, noone gives a shit about western PS2 or PS1 games anymore.
Grand Theft Auto
Tomb Raider
Spyro
Crash
>Like, noone gives a shit about western PS2 or PS1 games anymore.
Ratchet and Clank, Mortal Kombat, Jak and Daxter, Doom, Medievil, Crash, Spyro, Sly Cooper, Halo, etc. you would have a point if you were talking about ps3 games
>japan makes an ecchi thing
>”two nukes wasn’t enough”
>american makes a pozzed thing
>”two tower wan’t enough”
Japanese games aren't INHERENTLY better if that's what you're trying to say, it's just that Japanese games, most often more obviously Japanese games, are more likely to be good on average, at least within the AAA sphere.
The main reason, I think, is that "hobbyist culture" in Japan isn't as dead as in the west, so many games are still developed with their actual audience in mind, rather than the largest possible crowd that wants a taste of something that was once the domain of hobbyists.
The indie scene is more hit or miss, though.
>at least within the AAA sphere
Everybody knows western AAA games suck ass. You have to compare them to western AA and indie games.
AAA games suck ass, full stop.
If one country’s AAA still manages to be occasionally enjoyable even if you’re not a complete surface level homosexual they’re doing something seriously right, wouldn’t you say?
you guys may wantbto laugh at me, but i feel like snoy are the only ones that makes good western AAA. I still think abput Spiderman and Dad of War, even if it have flaws
Where can I buy this umbrella from?
japan
Biased for good games
For the most part, yes they are better.
I am, in fact, based.
>wind blows umbrella inside out
>"KYAAAA!~"
I dont hold jap shit up it just happens to be significantly better than western stuff most of the time and it doesnt just apply to vidya
I love tons of western movies from the 80s to around 2000-2005~ and tolkiens work is probably my favorite single piece of fiction
Vidya follows a similiar pattern where some of my favorite games from my childhood were western games like spyro/tony hawks pro skater/diablo 2/C&C but all the western studios I liked were fleeced and are either dead or are something else wearing the originals skin
Dont get me wrong my favorite jap devs have had ups and downs like capcom around 2010 until a few years ago or konami for like the last 15 or square enix and its fricking wild inconsistency since square soft and enix merged
And thats without mentioning how far western landscape has come with nickel and diming and focus group testing for player retention to wring out more etc, its practically as bad as the shit korea does but atleast the asiatics dont try to hide it
Ironic that you mention Korea. Most games I know of from the place are abysmal, but specifically one of my all time favorite dev teams is based in Korea. They’re probably an exception though.
korea can make good games they are just routinely plagued with pay models I find distasteful
I fricking loved the way Terra played for example and im currently keeping an eye on lost ark
I also knew a guy from WoW in like 2009 or so tha was fricking OBSESSED with GunZ
Japanese games are targeted at children and teenagers, because japanese adults don't have time for video games. You can actually gauge the maturity of a person by how much they like japanese games. Well-adjusted adults are more likely to enjoy western games, with genres such as strategy and simulation that are common in the west but totally absent in Japan.
If being well adjusted means being so self-conscious you have to hold up your tastes as more “mature” on an anonymous Mongolian throat singing forum, then I think I’m happy being maladjusted, thanks.
It's not about doing mature things out of self-consciousness, anon. It's about enjoying these things anyway.
Yes, which is why you felt the need to post about it on Ganker. Very mature of you.
I don't know what your definition of maturity is. But if your tastes haven't changed since you were a child, then you haven't matured.
Personally I stopped enjoying japanese games when I was growing up, and started enjoying strategy and management sims more. Simple as.
My tastes have changed since I was a child. I like more and more complex games. I just don’t know what sort of moronic world you live in that you have to abandon old likes to gain new ones, or where the west is the sole source of complex mechanics.
>LARPing this hard
>MOMMY MOMMY LOOK I'M A BIG BOY IT'S JUST LIKE A MOVIE
Western games desperately try to be a movie when they should be a game, the biggest midwit take their is, is yours.
Where the frick did I talk about movie games? you would know there is more to western gaming if you cared to look beyond the most surface-level AAA games.
>MOMMY MOMMY NOOOOOOOOOOO I'M AN ADULT LOOK HOW MATURE I AM WAAAAHHH
The triple AAA industry for the West is literally movie: the video game. Their entire premise is to make a medium for idiots that want to be passively entertained and weirdos like you that are obsessed with "muhh serious mature story!" You can gloss over the cs lewis quote that btfo your argument but it won't stop it from being true.
They produce trash like we do it's more or less because certain ~~*people*~~ and ~~*politics*~~ aren't shitting up their industry. Generally I think it's an American centric problem, people Bobby Kotick are American made. You get greedy nips but they're no where near as torrentially hedonistically money obsessed as your average American corporation. Kind of like how when you go to a country with actual food and heath standards their mars bar doesn't have 10 billion additives derived from petrol. The culture of California and their politics are also a major reason.
I'm biased because in the 35 years I've been playing games, I've observed Japanese games to be superior.
Western Indie > Japanese > Western AAA
Yeah, that sounds about right.
Although, I would also say that many soulful Western indie devs were inspired by Japanese games from their childhood.
>japanese developer panders to customers
>american developer panders to twitter autists
West has budget but that's it.
In the 80s and 90s, I'd say indisputably.
But once games started becoming movies and graphics got better, they dropped the ball because Japanese people rarely make good movies. Plus their gameplay in the early 2000s was bogged down by tradition. Western games took that opportunity to innovate and blast them out of the water.
Now we're in the era where a giant like Square Enix is trying to make a Skyrim/Witcher game as their next FF. What a world.
Japan’s problem was catering to people who last played video games in the 80s.
And now western games are bogged down pleasing people who NEVER played video games in the first place. So Japan is back to dominating. In another 10 or 20 years I bet the western indie scene will be capitalizing on nostalgic inspiration from those turn of the century western games, though.
You make it sound like that was a bad thing. That behavior is exactly how we got Demon's Souls, during a stagnant console generation chock full of hilarious amounts of handholding and tutorials.
Gamers were starving for "NES hard" games that harkened back to the 80s/90s, where you actually had to learn a game's mechanics to progress.
I mostly agree with this, since FromSoft really moved the combat mechanics in the action RPG genre forward with Demon's Souls. Western games have been trying to catch up in that department ever since. That entire console generation felt really fricking stagnant. But otherwise, yeah.
As for good Japanese films, they really are getting shit on by South Korea, aren't they? A good relatively recent Japanese film is "One Cut of the Dead". Check it out.
They aren't exactly great it's that just the West is completely trash in comparison.
Is Japan open yet? I want to fricking go there on vacation.
"Open" is a strong word but I was able to secure a visa as a pretext to spending time with the Christmas Cake I'm trying to seduce. Tourism is pretty much a no-go.
I want to go to Japan and frick a Japanese high school girls hairy pussy
