DP absolutely are worse than BDSP. BDSP adds plenty of QoL and fixes every issue people had with DP. A truly delusional doomer thinks otherwise. However, I still think there are interesting things about DP's gameplay. I think if you want the original experience you should play DP, however if you want speed and some more challenging content you should play BDSP.

Most of the game is overall easier due to a number of mandatory changes. It also doesn't help that some trainers were made easier as well.

I had to start actively avoiding trainers because I was overleveled for the mandatory fights.

second, if you've already experienced sinnoh i think arceus is the way to go, it's a great companion piece. i never had a moment in that game where i didn't feel like i was in sinnoh experiencing it for the first time again. pure soul, quite possibly.

I played BDSP and it was fun for a very casual game. But the game is far too easy unless you impose some sort of self challenge. The only fight where you need to actually pay attention is Cynthia. Everything before that will get crushed by a toddler rolling their head on a keyboard and pressing random buttons.
With that said I've never played DP and am going to be playing Renegade Platinum once I'm finished with my current Emerald run.

BDSP are better than DP and arguably platinum because they don't have the distorshit world that drags what is already an arduous hike up the mountain to spear pillar into a fricking 30 minute long maze with a moronic strength puzzle while also having lots of the great amenities of modern pokemon like EXP share (no grinding), anywhere boxes (can alter your team on the fly), no HMs (the worst mechanic in pokemon), and the Grand Underground (which adds the Platinum mons into the game) as well as superior postgame (new ways to catch old legendaries instead of the buttsex gaytier which only people who are bad at compshittery like to claim they're good at pokemon).

BDSP = 9-9.5 (doesnt have Frontier)
