FEAR 1 is the best in terms of AI behavior but all enemies are dressed like Airsofters. FEAR 2 has the best art direction but the AI pales in comparison to the first one and the lighting engine is less sophisticated. FEAR 3 isn't even a FEAR game to begin with.

Play it co-op or don't even bother. This can be great fun when played with a friend - the gameplay is on par with 1 except expanded on in a few very interesting ways (possession especially), the story and 'scares' are garbage.
